Superyacht of the Week Mondango 3

At 56.4 metres, Mondango 3 is Alloy Yachts' latest impressive achievement, a sleek, elegant ketch built for experienced owners. Mondagno 3 is the owners' second collaboration with the acclaimed New Zealand shipyard, joined by a team from Dubois Naval Architects and Reymond Langton. With many years of ownership experience, the original brief reflected a wish to create a refined version of Mondango 3's popular predecessor.

Mondango 3's interior designs add softness and beauty to her grand, sweeping architecture which is aimed at extensive water cruising and perfect performance. The main saloon, open and with ample amounts of natural light flowing in through large surrounding windows, functions as the central guest area. A range of natural materials have been used to create an atmosphere of timeless luxury and finesse. Lightness all around, the main saloon consists of an inviting modern lounge, a bar and a formal dining area, all framed with panoramic windows and designed in a warm and natural style.

Materials such as ziricote, roasted oak and palmwood are stylishly matched with soft leathers, marble and onyx to create a unique blend of colours and textures that give Mondango 3's interior a supple, inviting and contemporary personality. Bleached oak is the main ingredient, with rich inlays and leather elements in bespoke textures, as well as striking glass art panels as a prominent feature.

Curvy cabinetry, large sofas, armchairs and leather-clad chests are just some of the main ingredients that catch the eye, and the warm, intimate dining room is framed with stunning artworks from different eras. This might very well sum up what Mondango 3 is all about: a smooth blend of elements, well balanced and tied together with organic elegance and warmth.

With regards to naval architecture, layout and design, a number of elements were reflected from the owner's previous boat, Mondango 2, ranging from the familiar radial pattern on the main saloon's floors and ceilings to the combination of oak and leather.

All guest suites have been carefully designed with their own unique identity. The impressively spacious master continues the main saloon's design of modern, subtly eclectic lightness with organically shaped cabinets, overlapping wall paneling, wavy textured carpeting and pieces of modern art with a tribal look, to form a gentle, contemporary and inviting space, a theme in which is continued into the ample en suites.

Exteriors are also impressively spacious, having been maximised to exquisitely enjoy life at sea. From the aft deck spa pool, several seating areas and an impressive al fresco dining area seating a company of up to 10, Mondango 3 knows how to emphasise elegant outdoor living. With the transom folding down to create a large swimming platform and tender dock, sub deck tender wells and a sided boarding platform, luxury and efficiency go hand in hand.

The large aft cockpit is perfect for al fresco meals and day to night lounging, and can be completely closed off from the outside with considerable sliding windows. An impressive dining area, several sofas and lounging spots and striking surrounding views all add to this area's delightful atmosphere. Upstairs, the flybridge extends this panoramic character with a remarkable deck boasting inviting lounge sofas, large sun pads and bimini shades. Here, too, inspiring vistas are simply outstanding, complemented by a modern design with a vibrant colour scheme of yellow and green.

For a more cosy, intimate setting, bimini shades can cover a substantial section of the foredeck, turning this area into a perfect spot for lounging and sunbathing. And for those wanting to take a refreshing dip after soaking up some sun, the large swimming platform and pool on the aft deck, surrounded by a sizable deck space and sun loungers, perfectly complete Mondango 3's range of lush amenities.

Mondango 3 is an impressive and elegant superyacht, with slender features and a sleek silhouette complemented by light, contemporary and pleasantly organic interior designs. Above all, she is about luxurious amounts of space, panoramic vistas and the sense of freedom that only sailing can give you.
