Superyacht of the week: The Conrad 115 Lunar

Just last week, Polish shipyard Conrad debuted their brand new superyacht Lunar at this year's edition of the Festival de la Plaisance. At 35.3 metres LOA, this stunning ketch shows off an unusually contemporary look, with an all aluminium hull and an intriguing silhouette. Having had an extensive tour onboard in Cannes, Lunar presents herself as an elegant, modern and dynamic vessel that combines gentle onboard luxury with an appealingly sportive personality.

At first glance, Lunar's exterior look is one of dynamic features and strong, smooth forms, with a certain nobility to her lines that make her look distinctly modern. From her axe bow, with flattened wide transom, to her smooth and curvy superstructure, she looks like a majestic mythological creature elegantly sliding through the waves. The gentle silver hue of her hull, combined with her contemporary look, turns Lunar into a superyacht that shows off ample poise and plenty of strength. Her exterior has a pleasantly futuristic look, with the quaint style of her superstructure, strong hull lines and tall bullwarks declining towards the aft.

Lunar presents a concept that combines a sumptuous sense of freedom with great onboard comfort. In fact, this design concept was specifically requested by her owner, having Conrad Shipyard cooperate with Germany-based Newcruise and the Dutch design company Vripack to realise this fresh superyacht. This teaming proved to be a successful one, turning Lunar into a luxurious vessel that combines a futuristic look with light and airy, modern interiors and a great overall sense of freedom. The latter is emphasised even more courtesy of her great sailing possibilities and an advanced automatic sails management system, making Lunar's performance and handling considerably more appealing and effortless.

Aside from a great sailing range in any weather condition, Lunar has two powerful engines and large fuel tanks that make her perfectly suitable for long-range, open sea cruising. Comfort is key, so the flybridge offers two steering stations, adjacent to a wonderful recreational deck that has a panoramic U-shaped cockpit with sky blue upholstery, a barbecue area and more than enough space for deck chairs and leisure equipment. Her main aft deck boasts, aside from a large swimming platform which easily functions as tender storage, an al fresco dining area with large dining table and a big aft sofa, making this deck feel particularly like a large motor yacht's aft deck.

When at anchor, a wonderfully spacious and panoramic fore deck offers not only great areas for sunbathing and lounging, but also has a large Jacuzzi as prime feature. This Jacuzzi can also conveniently function as tender storage when necessary.

Inside, the living offers an open, airy and panoramic room with large L-shaped lounge sofa, invitingly big armchairs and an overall ambiance mixing classic hospitality with modern lightness. Large surrounding windows offer ample amounts of natural light and dramatic vista views, while big leather furnishing, the spacious layout and a fully equipped bar assure every guest with a comfortable, stylish and relaxing space to spend their time in perfect luxury.

Moving fore, either through the port side pantry or the starboard corridor, the equally spacious and open main saloon offers a collection of large, inviting leather armchairs and a big sofa, all placed in an airy, open and light atmosphere. Again, impressive vista views perfectly add to this room's ambiance, with particularly fascinating views fore and a big flatscreen television as some of this area's key ingredients. With luxury materials and a colour palette of light, natural tones, the living room and main saloon offer every guest a wonderful sense of luxurious comfort. And with the impressively sized flatscreen television, it is easy to imagine this room being instantly transformed into a perfectly private cinema room for endless cozy movie nights.

Right in between the saloon and living room, just a few steps fore and below the flybridge, a large wheelhouse with cozy L-shaped lounge corner is present for navigation when sailing on engines.

From the starboard corridor connecting the living room and main saloon, a stairway leads belowdecks to the owner's private quarters. Here, an impressive full beam stateroom, fitted with office area, lounge and ample storage space, plus a big en suite, and an adjacent children's suite with it's own en suite, are at the owner's disposal.

Soft lighting, large windows and luxurious amenities make these quarters a true delight. The warmly styled en suite is spacious, has a big shower area and boasts a luxurious ambiance.

These suites, which can be reached through the main saloon, offer light, spacious and elegant staterooms and large en suites. Styled in an airy, invitingly modern design, these suites form luxurious dwelling for every guest. With each twin stateroom offering an additional Pullman berth, Lunar can accommodate a company of up to 10 guests.

Lunar is a spacious, luxurious and contemporary sailing yacht, which offers plenty of light and airy ambiance and high levels of luxury. In some ways, she feels surprisingly like a mixture of a lush sailing yacht and a grand motor vessel, greatly adding to her charm and possibilities. In any case, Lunar will undoubtedly all of her guests with her inviting personality and appealing sense of overall freedom.
