SYT Media partner of the Mediterranean Yacht Show

SuperYachtTimes is proud to announce that we will be a media partner of the Mediterranean Yacht Show. Organised by the newly formed Greek Yachting Association (GYA), the luxury yacht charter show will take place from 3rd to the 7th May 2014 in the historic town of Nafplion in the Peloponnese area.

The GYA was founded by Greek yachting professionals involved in the charter, brokerage, management, insurance and construction of large yachts. The GYA and its members represent over 90% of the crewed charter yachts in Greece under central agency agreement. The objective of the association is to maintain high standards of professionalism in charter, sales and yacht management; closely cooperate with MYBA association as MYBA members and MYBA companies; organise an annual charter yacht show for the Greek and foreign flag charter yachts under Central Agency Agreement.

The organisers of the show, though in no shortage of options around Greece, have chosen Nafplion as the host for this year’s show for its typical Greek beauty and large modern harbour for the superyachts on display. The organisers are hopeful that the location will prove to be a sure representative of the diversity of locations around the country which fall into Charterers ‘must visit’ lists.

Although an exciting event for the Greek yachting industry, it is still important for foreign brokers to visit the show in order to observe the level of quality of the yachts on display, as well as the level of service on the charter yachts by the crew. Although the Mediterranean Yacht Show are enthusiastic of creating a bigger and better charter show than ever, it is no doubt disappointing to many that the show is still not open to foreign flagged yachts, an area of contention that will hopefully be improved in the future.

Regardless of this, an impressive list of superyachts will be attending the show which are being displayed to the professional charter industry. As an extra incentive, visiting charter brokers are invited to join a mini charter themselves after the show. Some of the boats that will be attending include:

Alexandra, 50 metre motor yacht from Benetti
Lady Dee, 47 metre motor yacht from Voorland Shipyard Holland
Ionian Princess, 45.73 metre motor yacht from Christensen
Barents Sea, 42 metre motor yacht from Mondomarine
O’rion, 40.97 metre Motor yacht from Siar Moschini
