The 77m newly-refitted explorer Legend hits the water

After announcing the planned transformation of the 77.4 metre explorer yacht Legend towards the end of 2014, Diana Yacht Design has today announced that the newly-refitted vessel has been launched last night in Harlingen, the Netherlands. Diana Yacht Design undertook the extensive redesign of her exterior areas as well as her naval architecture, whilst Thom Beerens and Jan Verkerk were responsible for all elements of her new interior design.

Originally constructed in 1974 by the IHC Holland shipyard, the transformation took place at ICON Yachts. Amongst the list of works completed in order to upgrade her to an icebreaking passengership, her stern was lengthened by 3.6 metres, whilst her superstructure was completely redesigned and her mast rebuilt. Her hull was repainted in an attractive dark grey, and will be sure to make her stand out, particularly on visits to the arctic regions.

Furthermore, heavy cranes were also added to the impressive vessel to enable the efficient lifting of a wide variety of tenders and toys, whilst the aft deck was completely reimagined as a fully classified helicopter deck. Living up to her explorer classification, she also comes with a luxurious submarine.

On board, she is able to accommodate up to 30 guests in total. The enormous master suite is situated on the foredeck, and features a king sized bed, a settee sofa, a bar and opulent his/hers en-suite facilities complete with a Spa pool tub.

Elsewhere, Legend has been fully realised as a luxury explorer, with plenty of guests spaces to relax, entertain and socialise. The main deck aft is home to a large dining table to accommodate the very best of al fresco dining, with an additional formal dining area also inside.

Other amenities include a fitness room, movie theatre, medical suite, bar and BBQ areas. A highlight for many will be found in the music corner, with a Grand piano and other musical instruments for live music.
