We’ve certainly been busy at SuperYacht Times since the publication of our last issue, with the team travelling worldwide to get some of the most important news and features in the industry today.
Our eighth issue showcases one of our most important and compelling interviews to date and we are excited to share an insight into the life and mind of Dr. Al Barwani: Omani native, businessman extraordinaire and owner of both the Dutch shipyard Oceanco and Turkish shipyard Turquoise Yachts. Visiting Dr. Al Barwani in his beautiful home in Oman, here we get an exclusive look into his entry to the world of superyachts several years ago.
A little closer to home, we met up with one of the most well renowned sailing yacht naval architects, Bill Tripp, here in our home city of Amsterdam. We meet with the American naval architect to talk about his latest projects, amongst which is the groundbreaking 86 metre Aquijo.
This issue also features two interviews with two very different owners: John Staluppi, the self-made American millionaire and his host of Bond-themed superyachts, and Julian & Lisa Theng, a Singaporean first time owner who just took delivery of the very first Sunreef 68 catamaran.
Sparking another debate, we also interviewed several superyacht Captain’s to give us their thoughts on the relationship between Captain’s and brokers when it comes to the sales process of a yacht. As with all of our features, we invite you, our readers, to contribute to the conversation.
