New 49 metre superyacht design by Nick Mezas Yacht Design

Nick Mezas, a young and upcoming designer from The Netherlands, who was one of the finalists for the recent Young Designer of the Year Award, has send us details about his latest design concept, a 49 metre displacement superyacht.

SuperYachtTimes.com asked nick to explain his concept: “this is a wide body yacht with the tender garage located forward on the maindeck, a gym with a skylight and beach area aft and a new type of superstructure design”. Nick continues: “The goal was to design a modern yacht with a new futuristic look and a recognizable silhouette when seen at the horizon”.

With the maindeck being full beam, the main salon is very spacious. The sense of space is further enhanced by the fold down balconies, on either side of the yacht. Nick moved the main dining room one deck up, on the bridge deck, where it is serviced by a pantry with direct access to the galley below.

The yacht offers accommodation in 5 double cabins for a total of 10 guests on both the main- and lowerdeck. The four guestcabins on the lower deck have direct access to the yacht’s gym and beach area located aft, a feature only seen on a handful of much larger yachts, such as the 62 metre Icon. The owner’s cabin on the maindeck includes a private office, a spacious en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobes. Forward of the owner’s stateroom one finds the tender garage, which houses a 21ft tender, a 16ft rigid inflatable boat and an array of other toys.

Nick invested a lot of time to come up with a practical, functional and spacious layout, which provides maximum privacy for guests, by allowing crew to move virtually unseen throughout the yacht through separate crew corridors and staircases.
