On Saturday the 6th of June 2009, at the presence of local Authorities and illustrious guests, a cocktail took place on the superyacht Anedigmi, moored on the quay of the new Quaiat Yard. The event has been organized for different purposes, the delivery of mega-yacht Anedigmi after a complete refit which lasted over 7 months and the official opening of the New Quaiat Yard.
Quaiat Yard is Marino Quaiat’s, a Triestine interpreneur, new business which comes alongside with the consolidated and internationally re-known activity of Marine Workshop. Quaiat Yard is located in a 3000m2 area, together with other 5 companies, all dealing in the marine and naval business.
Thanks to Trieste’s Port Authority concession of the State land, the yard can accomodate yachts up to 100 meters on the quay just in front . The quay measures 120 meters in length and 8 in depth whilst the surface measures 2000m2. Quaiat Yard has all types of cranes which can lift loads from 25 to 200 tons and has a dry dock at disposal at a distance of 2km from the yard.
Quaiat’s new challenge concentrates on refitting and re building of big and medium size yachts, starting with last year’s works carried out on the 92 meter sailing yacht Eos, built at Lurssen.
During the ceremony, as a surprise, Quaiat presented to the present guests and journalists the new Ambriabella project, in which are involved 6 interpreneurs: four from Trieste, one from Novara and one from Livorno. The ambitious team wants to rebuild and transform the historical coastal motor vessel Ambriabella into a luxury mega-yacht. The vessel sailed the Triestine seas for decades, and then disappeared.
The planning of this massive refit is in the hands of a well known ship engineering company in Trieste, specialized in historical crafts. The company is the same that Dubai’s government has recently committed the inspection and project to convert the well known English transatlantic Queen Elizabeth 2 in a static luxury attraction. After a long and intense research, Ambriabella was found, abandoned in a beach face near Pireo, in Greece, where she would have probably been demolished in a short time.
The team of well known planners and designers is ready to start working on the total rebuild of the vessel, which will be finished in two years. The complex works of reconversion and completion will be carried out at Quaiat Yard in Trieste, bringing to the whole surrounding area new opportunities of business.
