Perini Navi at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

In style appropriately “fit for a king,” a shipload of luxury yachts will arrive at the Dubai International Boat Show and the inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (set for March 3-7 and March 12-14, respectively) next year. And while the Burj Al Arab is designed to mimic the sail of an Arabian dhow, the Yacht Express claims its own signature visual—it “sinks,” either dockside or a short distance from the waterfront to allow yachts of any size to arrive by their own power and be safely floated on and off as cargo. Traditional carriers, on the other hand, use a lift-on/lift-off method with hoists and straps. “This will be the first time Yacht Express has visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE),” said Clemens van der Werf, president of DYT, which is based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and maintains an entire fleet of semi-submersible carriers devoted specifically to transporting yachts. “It sends a strong message in support of Dubai’s and Abu Dhabi’s initiatives to develop the UAE as an international yachting destination, which includes world-class marinas and unrivaled opportunities for sport fishing, yacht racing and cruising.” Matthew Bate, Regional Director of Marina Operations for Island Global Yachting (IGY) Middle East, agrees. “IGY is pleased to see the Yacht Express in our backyard, as the arrival adds to the growing international appeal of the Middle East's waters as a luxury megayacht destination.” Bates explained that IGY is helping to create 20,000 new berths in Dubai, and its marina locations include the Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, and Palm Deira), which are the largest land reclamation projects in the world. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/125609/image/large-9aefa04d2f399519e0ba2644e317bd39.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/125609">Yacht Express will leave Ft. The ship will then reverse its route after the shows, with a stop in Genoa set for early April and arrival back in Ft. Lauderdale due for mid-April. “Yacht Express made its maiden voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to Genoa, Italy, this April with a mostly-megayacht load worth $154 million,” said Van der Werf. “It has crossed back and forth across the Atlantic several times and made its official debut ‘Down Under’ in July. The Arabian Gulf, like the Mediterranean, is now slated to be on the regular yearly routes of Yacht Express.” The size and power of Yacht Express (it has a service speed of 18 knots) typically pares down transport times, delivering your yacht in record time. Yacht Express to deliver luxury yachts in time for Dubai and Abu Dhabi Boat Shows

With just under a year to go until the inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show opens its doors at the luxurious setting of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the organisers have announced confirmed attendance of the first yachts that will be on display in the new marina complex. Also in the marina will be Dubai based IFA Yachts, a specialist yacht ownership club and sales agent for Maiora Yachts, which has taken a package of 28 metre berth, adjoining pontoon space and a stand within ADNEC. Further recent sign-ups taking space within ADNEC include UK based Devonport Yachts, Italian megayacht yards Cantieri Navali Lavagna and Fincantieri Yachts, which specialises in vessels over 70 metres, and Dubai based Pino Meroni Yacht Interiors. Franck Dailles, Group Director of the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show believes the industry now recognises the importance of this new show and its audience. "We have exhibitors signed up from Europe, US and the Gulf, all of whom want to meet the elite, wealthy visitors who are in the market for yachts upwards of 30 metres. Leading US broker, Northrop &amp; Johnson is the first broker to join other US megayacht companies at next year’s Abu Dhabi Yacht Show. The company joins shipyards Burger Boat Company, Palmer Johnson, Trinity Yachts and Westport Shipyard at what is destined to become, according to Group Director of Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, Franck Dailles, "The megayacht show for buyers in the Gulf region." Other familiar megayacht brands from other parts of the world have recently signed up including superyacht shipyard, Danish Yacht and Dubai based design company, Greenline Design. US broker joins megayacht builders at inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

The Gulf’s first dedicated megayacht show, the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, has announced the appointment of Fabien Hauret, strengthening the sales team for the show as world wide interest from exhibitors reaches an exciting level. Fabien is highly experienced in yacht management and promotion and brings with him an exceptional understanding of the market. Based in Geneva he is ideally located to handle growing interest in this prestigious show from the European Megayacht shipyards and service operators. In tandem with his duties for the Show, Fabien will also represent the World Yacht Racing Forum which will take place in Monaco during December 2008.
