The 37.14-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1997" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Shore Boat Builders (Company)">Shore Boat Builders</a> sailing yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3471" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Corto Maltese37.14m (121'10&quot;)Shore Boat Builders1982">Corto Maltese</a> is for sale. The <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/corto-maltese/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">yacht Corto Maltese, for sale</a>, was launched in 1982 by the Canadian yacht builder as a ketch, but has since undergone a refit to convert her to a sloop rig. She also had a new keel configured in order to ensure the balance and stability of the yacht. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/217350/image/large-55fd14caa1bba1efca389ff1bc1a8bf2.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/217350">During the extensive rebuild in 2006, every element of the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">yacht for sale</a> was renewed at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1020" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Acico Yachts (Company)">Acico Yachts</a> shipyard in the Netherlands, meaning that she now benefits from Dutch construction quality and finishings. In 20021 she also underwent a full repaint and received a new set of sails.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/217347/image/large-a9205bfb7ad588d4caa4db9c0300d108.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/217347"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/217351/image/large-6d71f422fcb8b4cc3128ffba35df1f8e.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/217351">The <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/sailing/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">sailing yacht for sale</a> offers accommodation for up to eight guests in four cabins. The full-beam master suite enjoys direct access to the yacht’s stern, and the en suite features his-and-hers sinks. The remaining guest accommodation comprises two double cabins and a twin with an additional Pullman berth. With six cabins throughout the interior, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3404" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nassima49.0m (160'9&quot;)Acico Yachts2012">Nassima</a> sleeps up to 12 guests. Powered by twin CAT 3512C-HD engines, she has a maximum speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of over 5,000 nm at 10 knots. According to local Dutch newspaper Noord Hollands Dagblad, Jongert Shipyard has not been taken over by Acico Yachts. The news comes after Acico Yachts stated last September that they had taken over the Jongert Shipyard facility.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158062/image/large-27a601ef63d8d1b47ad982dfb0dfd952.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/125158">The Jongert Shipyard is situated at the Ijsselmeer in the Netherlands and was bought by the Veka Group in 2009. The Veka Group has tried to sell the shipyard for a while now and in September 2015 at the Monaco Yacht Show, Acico Yachts announced acquisition of the Jongert Shipyard. Based in Enkhuizen, Acico Yachts would move their production to the facility of Jongert in Wieringerwerf.SYT contacted Acico Yachts on the matter, who don’t wish to comment on the developments just yet. According to the local newspaper the deal did not go ahead because the Acico board in Kuwait did not give the permission to go move ahead, however the parties involved have not confirmed this.With the deal between the two companies denied, the Jongert Shipyard will again be for sale. The Veka Group has for some time now expressed their interest in severing ties with the Dutch yacht building facility and would like to focus on the construction of service vessels built at their yards in Werkendam, Lemmer and Plock in Poland. The Jongert Shipyard measures 44000 square meters with 3 sheds to built ships till 60 metre.

Takeover of Jongert by Acico Yachts falls through

SuperYacht Times can exclusively reveal that Acico Yachts has bought the Jongert shipyard. SYT caught up with the Managing Director of Acico Yachts, Christian Bolinger, for an exclusive interview ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show, revealing the details behind the recent acquisition of Jongert by Acico Yachts, and what this means for both brands in the immediate and distant future.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/156291/image/large-2e6176258bef7e3ae2e05951ac7d2e51.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156291">When did you start looking for yards for sale? This one has been on the market for a while.Not that long ago, actually. We started looking at the beginning of June and it went really quickly. We didn’t have the exclusive purchasing rights at the time, but shortly after that expired we placed our offer. It then went on a little with the lawyers on both sides, but I am really happy that it’s basically done now, this is a great step for us.Do you have any projects under construction at the moment?We currently have four projects under construction right now. They’re definitely smaller than projects we have previously worked on, so more in the 20 to 24 metre range, plus a sailing yacht of 35 metres.Did you buy the shipyard because you needed a new facility, you wanted to have the brand, or both?The facility is definitely part of it. When you have people coming in who want to build a 50 to 60 metre vessel, you have a completely different appearance with these amazing facilities. Further to this we will be able to optimise our building costs too as the setup is fine-tuned for yacht building, but I think for us the facility was just one part of the total. It’s really the brand. That’s extremely interesting to us.Will you keep both Jongert and Acico?That’s an interesting question. We actually did some research and looked at market reactions with people in the industry. With Acico Yachts we’re currently building for brands such as Drettmann as well, and we see a setup where Acico is the building party, and Jongert will be the brand to push. We’ll use it in both sailing and motor yachts, as we clearly see the added value in the Jongert brand – also for motor yachts.Traditionally Jongert is a sailing yacht brand and Acico has mostly built motor yachts. What will you build under the Jongert brand?Since Jongert went down the first time, there have been a lot of changes in this industry. We all know that the sailing yacht market for which Jongert had been iconic is a fraction of today’s total industry. Therefore we need will be working in both markets using the Jongert brand with its heritage.The brand has been a bit troubled over the past ten years. Are you looking at ways to revive the brand?Definitely. We will have Herbert Dahm as an ambassador in our setup and he will help us to regain the sphere that Jongert had before. The other really nice fact is that we at Acico Yachts have over twenty people that have been employed with Jongert for very many years before, so it’s like coming back home for them and it gives the Jongert brand its standing. Thus we are not just purchasing an empty brand but are able to give it its core value – the craftsmen building these wonderful products.Will Herbert Dahm be an exclusive sales agent like he was in the past?No, we’ll be working with brokers as any other shipyard does. We already have a close relationship with certain brokers. I think it’s amazing what Herbert Dahm did together with the Jongert family. This is part of our heritage, and it’s nice to close that circle by having him involved again. We see him as an ambassador to bring the name back out from the Jongert family.Jongert had organised regattas for their yachts in the past. Will you introduce the Jongert Regatta again?Yes, and I have a few ideas about building up owners clubs and really having a bit more of the socialising again. That’s the good thing about the sailing yacht side of the industry; you can work nicely with these regatta tools to generate a society around your product, and to kind of generate this bond between your different clients themselves. As a shipyard you’re actually quite an attractive centre point for people to utilise your network. The aim is also to bring these high net worth individuals together. It’s an interesting tool that is often forgotten as a shipyard and only now, with such a large group of Jongert owners, are we are able to build up on this asset.Now you are building for Drettmann. Will you continue to build for other brands?Yes, we will. Definitely, but this will all be done under the Acico brand. With a young brand as Acico Yachts still is, we had to be creative and look at partnerships. We find that building for other brands and shipyards is a good strategy to build up your pedigree in the market and grow correspondingly.While Jongert, a well-established brand, will only build Jongert Yachts, we will not start building for any other brand using Jongert as builder.Is the Acico Group looking at purchasing other brands?Well this is for now certainly not in our books, we first need to carefully look at further developing a well-run setup after this new venture, and I think we need to really focus on this and take care of it. It needs to flourish before we look into others.Jongert started the construction of a 32 metre sailing yacht. Will she be finished and is she sold already?We have two clients that are potentially interested in it, but because it has been quite quiet with Jongert for the past few years, it’s important that we can relive this brand and to really pick up where it was left off at the peak. You want to have a yacht representing our identity again, and I believe that the 3200P is a wonderful design precisely doing this. Super Yachts London has announced that they are now Joint Central Agent for the Acico 160 model, superyacht Nassima. Measuring 49 metres in length, she is constructed entirely out of aluminium and was completed by the up and coming Dutch shipyard Acico in 2012. Brokerage deal of the Week: The 49 metre Nassima

SuperYacht Times recently spoke to Acico Yachts Sales and PR Manager, Sytse de Vlas, who explained more about the history of the Dutch shipbuilder, their current and past projects, and the companies presence at this years boat shows all over the world.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152745/image/large-06cab897b07470d0b3fd5213942ac977.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141973">Acico Yachts was founded in 2010, and came after a takeover of Dutch Yacht Builders by Acico Industries. Based in the small but thriving town of Enkhuizen in the Netherlands where the Acico Yachts yard now reigns, Dutch Yacht Builders was established in 1995. By combining the managing and financial resources of Acico Industries and the long lasting Dutch yacht building tradition of the shipyard, Acico Yachts was born and is managed since then by the Swiss naval architect Christian Bolinger. The largest of these were the 43 metre Latitude and the 47 metre LadyDee motor yachts designed by Cor de Rover.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152749/image/large-bb7b1259d40bb647364ee2c8c2d54387.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141984">As a relatively new brand in the industry even half a decade on, De Vlas comments on the introduction of a new series in 2014 at one of the most important dates in the yachting calendar; the Monaco Yacht Show. “During the show we introduced our new semi-custom series that we designed together with Sea Level. These yachts ranges in sizes from the largest design of 50 metres accommodating up to 12 guests, to the smallest design of 26 metres accommodating up to 8 guests. The first impressions we received were very interesting, and we’re now in the process of continuing those conversations that were begun at the Show."<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152750/image/large-dc9b2767a6e57e29f7f244a32dcbbcce.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152750">De Vlas discusses another introduction of the series, saying that, “Another label that we will launch during the Dubai yacht show next month is designed in cooperation with HotLab. These series contemporary designs include yachts of similar sizes from 25 meter, 35 meter and 50 meters in length.”Aside from the development of the semi-custom series, current projects at the yard include an explorer yacht with diesel electric Azipod propulsion system that is being constructed for the German shipyard Drettmann, which is due to be completed just before the summer cruising season. Explaining further projects, de Vlas says, “We’re also starting up the 40 metre sailing yacht we have previous worked on and of course we have the explorer, as well as two performance yachts under construction. In February we’ll begin a 21 metre yacht for a client that is also under a different brand name other than Acico, and we’re also in the process of doing engineering works for a 35 metre project which we will hopefully start building soon.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152751/image/large-b0cc3d16cc4e95fbf9478858a6a433fd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145325">Despite a seemingly full shipyard, de Vlas told SuperYacht Times that there is more than enough capacity at the yard for further projects. In terms of delivery time, he comments, “We have various projects that can be finished in a relatively fast period of time, and in that way we can still build other big projects in a reasonable time frame. It gives us a lot of opportunities. Moreover, we are one of the few Dutch shipyards still offering full expertise of yacht building under one roof. Weather it is semi-custom or full custom, we are focussing on producing yachts of 35 meters up to 60 meters in length.”Acico will be present at several shows this year, including the Dubai International Boat Show, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show and the METS.By Maarten Janssen

The yacht is available for charter, and SYT's Maarten stepped on board in Greece in the spring of this year. The Dutch flagged superyacht Lady Dee

Drettmann Yachts latest project is a 24 metre explorer yacht. Built by the Dutch shipyard, Acico yachts, the yacht is expected to be completed later this year.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150556/image/large-c3e151789daf6d7de55ac00c8b22be7f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150556">The exterior design is by Drettmann and Focus Yachts Design, and portrays a masculine, sporty profile created for long excursions at sea. She includes an impressive beach club area with a spa, with a bar and ample sunbathing areas located directly above the water, as well as a large dining and living area on the main deck.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150557/image/large-d8ddf5e5bd7ae0c95284a8a6fb8cd364.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150557">Her luxurious and sophisticated interiors are by Claudia Drettmann and Birgit Schnaase, and she accommodates guests over a three cabin layout.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150558/image/large-fb7b7aff1ca83933cb44f1565af7628a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150558">Head of the company, Albert Drettman, comments, "We are very delighted about the positive resonance which has received our new Explorer series already in the forefront. Thereby, it is important to us, not only yachts in different length, but also to offer absolute custom-solutions. We move what customers wish.”Powered by triple diesel engines, the 24 metre explorer will reach a maximum speed of 13 knots. She is also fitted with diesel-electric POD drive systems and built in accordance with the CE A regulations.
