It was a pleasurable experience all round.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/268368/image/large-296798132bfe02621c1837b317f2b1aa.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/268368">The work list included a full repaint; new teak decking on the foredeck; new teak caprail aft; revarnishing of all the exterior teak; new veneer on the main deck aft; installation of a sun awning covering the foredeck to create a lounging area; numerous interior items; technical maintenance; and upgrading of the LED lighting system. Moreover, an additional crew cabin was created that can accommodate two more crew members for a total of four (previously there was only space for two crew members before the refit). With so many yachts to see at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show, SuperYacht Times steps on board the award-winning 50.28-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">Broadwater&nbsp;</a>to find out for ourselves what has made this Dutch-built vessel such a talking point following her major refit in 2017. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/35427/image/large-feb4566d1ec47550fdc01d9a3e57a1b6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/35427">Originally known as Blue Moon and renamed Sweet Pea and Deja Vu later on in life, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">Broadwater&nbsp;</a>was built in 2000 for a highly experienced owner and yachtsman, with veteran superyacht designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/41" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Donald Starkey Designs (Company)">Donald Starkey&nbsp;</a>responsible for both the exterior and interior design of the vessel during the original build. It was in 2017 when she underwent her eight-month, all-encompassing refit which took place at the Lauderdale Marine Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and for which she won the accolade of the best-refitted yacht at the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/winners-of-the-2018-world-superyacht-awards-revealed" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">2018 World Superyacht Awards</a>.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65410/image/large-2630d4591f063f36c3de93417392707c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65410">As part of the refit, an entirely new interior designed by the Young Designer of the Year award winner, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1974" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Adam Voorhees (Company)">Adam Voorhees</a>, 2010, was installed. As well as the addition of a sixth stateroom, the extensive upgrades to the vessel’s layout included the creation of a dining/living space aft of the bridge, the installation of an exterior gym and spa and the addition of a beach club in her stern.&nbsp;Most noticeably of all,<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">&nbsp;Broadwater&nbsp;</a>also received a full exterior repaint, changing her hull colour from white to blue: a change which, as the judges at the World Superyacht Awards noted, has given the motor yacht a cleaner and more sophisticated appearance. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65414/image/large-651c44fc6da4b284cc0786e042823452.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65414">Stepping on board, the rejuvenating effects of the refit quickly become apparent. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1974" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Adam Voorhees (Company)">Adam Voorhees</a>’ interior offers a calm, casual and inviting atmosphere, with a minimalistic composition and subtle design details revealed throughout the vessel. Thanks to the removal of the original ‘Flume Tank’ passive anti-roll system, the refit released internal volume that was reassigned to storage space, and, indeed, a sense of breathing space is key to the 50.28-metre superyacht.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65419/image/large-4ca7de1eba6f83fd986b7f6912d2f039.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65419">The sixth stateroom - a VIP queen cabin on the main deck - provides between 12-14 guests comfortable accommodation on board <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">Broadwater.</a> A spiral staircase leads down to the four large ensuite lower guest cabins which feature distinctive metal finishes manufactured by Neal Feay and inspired by the Japanese practice, of omikuji (Japanese fortune telling paper strips that can be found at shrines and temples), creating multiple layers of reflection, transparency and gradient colouring. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65425/image/large-63dca6a8e52be373f640a0f2c57ff337.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65425">The four well-appointed guest staterooms on the lower deck feature king berths, two of which convert to twins and which also feature the option of additional Pullman berths (two in total). All of the staterooms have been refitted with new millwork, soft goods and stone. From the entrance foyer area, you can easily access the formal dining and main salon area, where a custom dining table for 12 and a new 275-bottle glass front display wine cooler can be found. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65411/image/large-b1d051bf9e5935f3a2c6ac7a4b250158.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65411">The tranquil main saloon features chevron pattern rift sawn oak flooring with sumptuous area rugs, as well as a modified L-shaped sofa, coffee table and two custom swivel chairs, along with an additional low credenza and accent chairs. The main-deck master suite is located forward and is full-beam with a king berth, large walk-in closet, generous storage and a private office with the additional queen cabin located to starboard. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65413/image/large-20b57a37e7d6807aa94c1958f5b92199.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65413"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/65412/image/large-8bcf85066c40a577c06a51e060d67c6c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65412">Aft, there is the playfully-designed circular skylounge designed for relaxing and entertaining, which is tastefully furnished with a Vladimir Kagan-designed semicircular sofa, a Finn Juhl coffee table and chairs, as well as a standalone table with four Hans Wegner chairs. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65415/image/large-19bf4319564206032d40f39ec9981277.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65415">From here, it is simply a case of using the external stairway on the starboard side deck to reach <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">Broadwater</a>’s sundeck, where you can find a built-in settee, loose furniture and table aft, a circular settee with table to port and further forward to port, a wet bar. As one of the boat’s standout features, a large Jacuzzi with ample sunpad area is in the middle of the sundeck forward. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65408/image/large-6e570f43de785035699b8c0632d74002.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65408">The gym area is forward on the bridge deck on the starboard side and also features a massage area option within the gym facilities, with the latest Technogym equipment including a Technogym Treadmill connect, kinesis, elliptical, and rowing machines and recently added TV/AV facilities. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/65416/image/large-2159a2d3b05d84bc4f962f25b16987ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65416">Finally, for any superyacht owner or charter guest, easy access to the water is vital, and this is easily achieved on board <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1442" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Broadwater50.28m (164'12&quot;)Feadship2000">Broadwater</a>. Using a wide spiral staircase from the main deck aft, you can reach the swim platform, where you can take advantage of the new set of tenders and toys provided during the 2017 refit works, or board a tender for the shore. The winners of Boat International Media's World Superyacht Awards 2018 have been revealed. Now in their 13th year, these awards celebrate the ingenuity and innovation which is demanded by the design, engineering and construction of the world’s finest superyachts.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/35396/image/large-4c2cc25bd028e6aec6c3cf7b4c53a1d8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/35396">This year, two new categories were added, Support Vessels and Sail-Assisted Motor Yachts, in order to reflect the ever-changing nature of the superyacht industry. The Awards are judged by a committee of superyacht owners and thus represent the only peer-reviewed yachting awards in the world.&nbsp;There were a total of 68 nominations making up this year’s highly competitive class, with a total of 18 Neptune awards received by the winners. Winners of the 2018 World Superyacht Awards revealed 

The 36.5-metre Palmer Johnson superyacht Vanquish has found a new owner after having been listed for sale by SuperYachtsMonaco. Michael Mahan of Worth Avenue Yachts represented the buyer in the acquisition. Vanquish was listed for sale at €4,950,000 and is currently lying in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to intelligence sources, the yacht has now been renamed BW.

Built in 2006, BW forms part of Palmer Johnson’s successful PJ 120 line of yachts designed by Nuvolari Lenard. She is powered by twin 2,285hp MTU 12V 4000 M90 diesel and reaches a top speed of 28 knots.

BW is currently undergoing a refit that is being overseen by designer Adam Voorhees.

Superyacht Vanquish sold and renamed BW

Developed in collaboration with Dykstra Naval Architects, Adam Voorhees has recently revealed a brand new 70 metre sailing yacht design. Developed in response to a specific client request, the design brief for the ketch demanded a fast vessel which retains high levels of comfort on board, respecting the heritage of the sailing yacht tradition whilst utilising the very best of modern technologies.

Commenting on the development of the design with these requirements in mind, the Voorhees team explains: “The yacht moves beyond the facade of simply using classical styling and a modern underbody but instead arrives at an authentic expression all its own. This is clearly articulated in the sleek glass deckhouses that appear to push through an envelope of teak. In the living spaces the formal decorative appliqué so liberally applied to traditional sailing vessels now becomes a background canvas for highlighting focal pieces of form, furniture, and art to support thoughtful living.”

Owner’s accommodation on board includes a private lounge and cockpit, as well as study and luxurious ensuite facilities. Amongst her other notable features is a spacious beach club, and two tenders of 8.5 metres and 6.5 metres respectively. With storage for both found on the foredeck, the tender well also has the capability to be transformed into a swimming pool.

Dykstra Naval Architects has drawn a fast and efficient hull shape with a versatile sail plan optimised for performance and ease of handling. Maximum weight savings will be made possible through advanced construction and materials, while hybrid energy technology and the latest sailing and onboard systems will be employed.

Adam Voorhees reveals new 70m superyacht design

Adam Voorhees has revealed his latest superyacht concept, a 100 metre vessel inspired by Californian casual luxury and Hollywood glamour. Adam Voorhees unveils 100 metre superyacht concept

Design Studio Adam Voorhees has recently announced the contract and refit design for project Sapphire Knight, a 26 metre fast sailing yacht. Built largely in Kevlar and carbon, construction is now underway at the Seaway yard in Monfalcone, Italy and will include a new deck and house, transom extension, complete interior, as well as mast, boom and keel modifications.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152501/image/large-663478daffa24a1e19171db0c34dbbba.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152501">Utilising a 25 meter racing yacht as the starting platform with naval architecture by Bruce Farr, the yacht boasts an aggressive yet easily handled sail plan and will be at home on the race course, the high seas, and the choicest cruising grounds.The experienced owner's design brief called for a voluminous interior with full visibility from the large salon and fully equipped spaces to ensure casual luxury for family, friends, and on charter. The interior will be finished in a contemporary and comfortable style, complimenting the yacht’s clean lines and sleek profile. Accommodation on board include a large owners cabin forward, two en-suite guest cabins, and separated facilities including galley and two double en-suite crew cabins.
