First unveiled during boot Düsseldorf 2016 in January this year, the team at Beiderbeck Design has come up with a redesigned version of its original Dahm 120 sailing yacht concept. The original 36-metre yacht has been redesigned after a special client’s request and now features a more classic exterior with nearly 20 metres of added deck space.

Measuring 53 metres in length, the new Dahm Classic is designed as a comfortable cruiser with every modern-day luxury one would expect, on board. An elegant deckhouse provides a great indoor space with exceptional views to the outside, without interfering with the yacht’s sleek profile.

As with the Dahm 120, the new Classic model is designed to be built in under two years from GRP with carbon fibre reinforcements where needed. Up to ten guests can live on board with space for six crew members.

A good separation between crew and guest areas sets up the Dahm Classic for both private use and charter trips. A large cinema room, wheelchair-friendly elevator and a range of other optional extras provide clients with a custom superyacht able to be built in a reduced time frame.

We speak with Michael Storck, Managing Partner at Dahm International, about the company’s presence on the Balearic island.

 

How important is the Palma Superyacht Show to Dahm International?

With our head office here in Palma de Mallorca as well as being one of the co-founders of the event four years ago, this is certainly one of the most important shows for us. We feel the show is getting more and more interesting each year. The increasing presence of large sailing yachts here at the show fits in perfectly with our business model.

There is an established German community here on the island. Is this part of the reason why Dahm International is based here?

Yes, that certainly is part of the reason. The island has historically been known as a retreat for Germans to escape to. But because of the high concentration of yachts here in Palma all year round, this has become a hub for anyone looking at purchasing a new yacht.

 

What makes the Palma Superyacht Show stand out from other yachting events around the Mediterranean?

I think the mix of visitors here at the show really makes it very special. It not only caters to the ultra wealthy and therefore keeps you on your toes when it comes to identifying new yacht owners. The other reason is of course the amount of sailing yachts here. At the Monaco Yacht Show for example, a big sailing yacht can easily get overlooked amongst the crowd, but here clients really have an opportunity to enjoy and appreciate these lovely sailing yachts in their environment.

Earlier in the year you unveiled the Dahm 120 sailing yacht. Have you received any interest about the project since then?

Yes, we have a very small group of clients who are extremely interested in purchasing the project. It has not been sold yet, but we are reaching the final stages of the agreement. The concept is completely different than what is available on the market today, and we found that clients really appreciate that.

Two job openings at Dahm International

Dahm International has announced that they will display four yachts at the upcoming Palma Superyacht Show located in Palma Mallorca, including Mastiff, Tamara Rd, El Baile and Fantasea Blue.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153698/image/large-8762d6eb0e9c06835b3b963ab7848f2b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/138146">The 28.70 metre Mastiff was built in 1967 by Appledore Shipbuilders, underwent an extensive refit in 2010 and is built entirely of welded steel. She hosts up to nine guests in a VIP suite on the upper deck – with access to the aft deck lounge and private elevator to the salon -, two twin-bedded cabins and a VIP cabin on the lower floor, all of which are en suite. Dahm International to display four yachts at Palma Superyacht Show

With the 2015 edition of the Palma Superyacht Show (PSS) fast approaching, organisers have announced an impressive list of participating yachts and exhibitors, with the number of berths and stands available seeing a substantial increase since the inaugural event in 2013.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153206/image/large-8f1992fa7085443495ee29050756c5fd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151752">Conducted in partnership with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association, PSS is a show that is run for the industry, by the industry, providing a platform for brokerage and charter yachts above 24 metres. Amongst the yachts on show this year will be the 49 metre Herreshoff designed Eleonora; the 43 metre Rubeccan; the 38.14 metre Twilight; and the former rescue tug, Mastiff.Hannelore Schmitz of Dahm International speaks highly of the show and its location in Palma, saying, “With every edition, the Palma Superyacht Show is more and more becoming one of the most important superyacht in-water exhibitions worldwide. Palma Superyacht Show prepares for 2015 edition

She had a major refit in 1991-1994 at Lürssen. Comprehensive works were performed on her hull and rigging – now using american spruce – and installing up to date technology, amongst others electrical and hydraulic winches. The yacht was seen last month at the Voiles de Saint Tropez.Aschanti IV of Vegasack is for sale with Dahm International, asking € 4,950,000.

Jurgen Koch in the Palma office of Fraser Yachts has sold sailing yacht Garuda, with Dahm International acting on behalf of the buyers. Dahm International has announced the recent addition of several new yachts to its Central Agency portfolio, widening the company’s variety of superyachts available. The announcement comes within the first six months of new management at their superyacht brokerhouse in Spain.In addition to the introduction of new vessels, three staff have also recently joined the team. Dr. Frank Lugert is the first addition, and has supported the company since September 2014 in business development and consulting in Munich and Palma. Valerio Biondi, with long-term experience in the brokerage business, has been appointed Dahm international’s exclusive representative in Rome, Italy. Dahm International expanding

This year saw The Greek Yachting Association (GYA) successfully organise the first Mediterranean Yacht Show in Nafplion from the 3rd to the 7th of May, targeting professionals of the yachting industry with an international exhibition of crewed yachts.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148648/image/large-b74cd3f2bb1e0b22685dac675bb5c7ea.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148648">The opening ceremony took place on 3rd May, followed by an impressive reception at the fortress of Palamidi, where those invited enjoyed a unique performance of live music by an electric string trio.During the exhibition, participants had the opportunity to inspect the boats, meet the crews and arrange deals. The yacht show was attended by the majority of leading global chartering companies such as Camper &amp; Nicholsons, Edmiston &amp; Company, Fraser Yachts, Yachting Partners International, Merle Wood &amp; Associates, Inc., Dahm International, OceanStyle by Burgess, Northrop &amp; Johnson and Luxury Charter Group.57 luxury vessels were on show, 21 pavilions hosted a variety of exhibitors and 202 yacht brokers from 17 countries attended the inaugural show. Nafplion hosts the First Mediterranean Yacht Show

Christian Hausser and Lukas Stratmann have recently taken over the broker’s side of Dahm International. Stratmann, who has been with the company since 2013, is a former skipper and shipbuilding engineer, while Hausser is an entrepreneur with a background in marketing and communications.By Merijn de WaardIn today's interview with SuperYacht Times’ Merijn de Waard, Hausser describes the move from the marketing and communication field to the superyacht business.“I love boats, I love the sea, I love the ports and I got to know Lukas a few years ago when I moved to Cologne for communication and marketing. Lukas gave me a phone call one day and said that Mr. Dahm might be interested in selling his company. After all analysis and checking out the strengths, weaknesses and the possibilities, we decided to manage this topic and to overtake this company. I think we have a pretty pleasant chance to succeed.”Rather than substantial changes to the company, Dahm International will go through what Stratmann describes as a ‘“freshening up”. The traditional aspects and extensive knowledge of the company will be brought forward into the future to make the brand better than ever. Though under new leadership, Hausser and Stratmann have also agreed to keep the name of the company, noting the sterling reputation and the strength of the Dahm name as an integral part of the sustained success of Dahm International.“There will be no major changes because we don’t need it. That’s what Dahm is. It is a traditional, small company, very dynamic, very family oriented. We don’t want to destroy the brand by saying, ‘we are now new’. It is going to stay the same.” Lukas Stratmann.For now, the company will continue to predominantly focus on the German speaking market, continuing Dahm International’s current strong relationship. However, the future will see the superyacht brokerage house open up internationally, looking to make cooperation with other countries and brokers.The companies sailing history combined with Stratmann’s strong sailing background have raised questions on the focus for the future and whether Dahm International will shift to a more sailing yacht focus. Hausser states, “a certain focus is always good but the luxury yachts are our products at the end and the more diversity you have, the wider the target group you may offer your products and services to. Therefore, I think it would be a mistake to only stay on the sailing ship side.”The company structure will see Stratmann taking responsibility for the operational side such as the brokerage, contact with clients, selling and the contracts, whilst Hausser will oversee the administrative aspects, including regulation of the texting, the employees and especially the marketing.Herbert Dahm is currently still in the office in Dusseldorf, offering his advice and experience to the new directors as honorary president. Stratmann states the owner of the company is, “like a mentor. He’ll talk to the clients. He still has got some great ideas. We discuss most of the things with him because it’s always good to have Mr. Dahm’s opinion, even if it’s not 2014. We are very happy to have him on board, to have him in the background and to have him as a mentor. He is and will be a massive support.”

Interview with new owners of Dahm International

La Reina Del Mar is a 31.40 metre superyacht built in 1985 by Hakvoort in Holland, and underwent her last refit at the Pendennis shipyard in 2005. The vessel’s accommodations for up to 8 guests are styled in teak wood in combination with alcantara ceiling panels and leather panels on walls. In the course of the reorganisation of dahm international, the brokerage department has been outsourced in April 2014. New owners Lukas Stratmann and Christian Hausser will be responsible for the management of the new brokerage company from April 1st 2014.In his function as honorary president of dahm international, Herbert Dahm will still support the brokerage department with his knowledge and advice. With the modification of dahm international’s organisational structures, the brokerage company has prepared itself for the oncoming challenges of the next couple of years, and confirms the company’s position as one of the first addresses when it comes to outstanding sailing yachts and handpicked motor yachts for sale and charter.<img alt="" src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/148110/image/large-0aa2b785b159e1208de12199eeef83e0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148110" class="legacy">Aside from the change in personnel, dahm international has also consistently expanded its portfolio and added further exceptional yachts to its sales listings. Dahm International under new ownership

The Palma Superyacht Show 30th April to 4th May 2014 promises a fantastic show in prospect. In only the second year since it began, the 2014 Palma Superyacht Show is unquestionably fulfilling its potential as the Mediterranean’s most attractive ‘season opener’.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/147617/image/large-16c0774248ec5a41c80b3bc0a42d3d3b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146818">From an international visitor’s perspective, Majorca’s hospitable climate, combined with mainland Europe’s 1st May public holiday, have made the prospect of visiting the Show an attractive proposition. From an organisational point of view, take-up has exceeded all expectations, with berths for over half the expected number of 60+ yachts over 24m length taken, and 75% of shore-side exhibitor stand space already allocated. Running concurrently with the 31st Boat Show Palma, in the heart of Palma, exhibitors and visitors benefit from the very real prospect that yachts can be sold and charters booked in comfortable readiness for the coming season.
