DLBA is the naval architecture and marine engineering division of Gibbs & Cox that provides consulting services for the design and construction management of motor yachts, fiberglass recreational boats, and aluminum workboats. We specialize in high-performance marine craft, as well as supporting all types of vessels and clients including record-setting race boats and commercial marine tugs.
Since our founding, we have offered a professional service of creating and developing concepts that optimize the function, value, and appearance of vessels and components for the mutual benefit of both the user and manufacturer. DLBA started out as a small group of engineers specialized in the technical development of high-performance marine craft. We also offered, and still continue to offer, consulting services for the design, evaluation, testing, and construction management of motor yachts, custom sportfishing boats, and workboats. For 30 years, DLBA has recognized the need to stay on the edge of advancing technology. Change is inevitable, and being able to embrace, adapt, and implement that change for the better is one of the core values of DLBA.
Over the years, our naval architecture team has developed efficient and effective guidelines and processes for design and evaluation based on both published technical information and our own real-world experiences. Based on our understanding of our customer’s objectives from the initial technical kick-off, our team works to select and employ the best approach to achieve a cost-effective and efficient solution.
Comparable to our naval architecture team, our marine engineering team has experience that includes the development of propulsion and auxiliary systems for new construction, equipment installation or replacement for refit projects, and troubleshooting for in-service support.
DLBA continues to manage projects through the construction phase after the design work is complete. Producing a quality vessel on time and on budget can be both challenging and stressful, however, our team uses client-driven and industry-approved best practices in project management to reduce risk and make the build process easier on the mind. In addition to project management, we offer technical oversight and compliance inspections to owners and shipyards. We stay on board to support our projects through construction to sea trials and delivery in order to make the process as smooth and painless as possible.
