There is an insatiable appetite for yachting in Poland which has gone relatively unnoticed – and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a>, the Warsaw-based yachting company has been reaping the rewards. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/257955/image/large-2b0fd28b614009661e789c70f5486031.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/257955">What started out as a small firm designing luxury projects in 2005, quickly morphed into a powerhouse of a firm that will soon expand with charter and brokerage operations in its new Monaco and London offices. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a> offers the full suite of services that includes the buying and selling of used and new yachts, as well as marine and charter bookings across the globe.&nbsp;“We have been working in the luxury sector for nearly two decades now,” Patrick Uznanski, CEO &amp; founder of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a>, told SuperYacht Times. “But we used to operate as the Global Company Group until 2015 when we decided to rebrand and ramp up our services.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/257934/image/large-751bcbc4bc6a180d5366ad85cb6b28d8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/257934"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a> has cornered the Polish market, securing exclusive dealership rights for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/374" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanlorenzo (Company)">Sanlorenzo</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5648" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluegame (Company)">Bluegame</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2793" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fairline Boats Ltd (Company)">Fairline</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5741" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Axopar (Company)">Axopar</a> and Pirelli | <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5736" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="TecnoRib (Company)">TecnoRib</a>.“Polish customers are absolutely becoming more knowledgeable and more experienced yacht people,” Uznanski said. “The fact that as a nation we’re a big producer of yachts has established strong international success, which has sparked local interest. Of course, compared with the likes of France and Italy it's a young market, but we’re still hitting impressive sales numbers even in the 30-metre segment.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/237325/image/large-54ac1c6eb94119271241d0199da7dd6b.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/237325">The first exclusive dealer rights signed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a> in 2009 was with a &nbsp;family-owned Austrian shipyard producing high-quality design day boats. While the most recent was <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/374" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanlorenzo (Company)">Sanlorenzo Yachts</a>, which builds yachts in the 24-73 metre range, is a true reflection of this blossoming market.&nbsp;“We don’t only cater to the Polish market, though,” Uznanski explained. “We have clients all over the world whom we offer both brokerage and charter services for &nbsp;– one of my most recent charter clients, as an example, is based in Dubai.”&nbsp;The charter department of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6641" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Patrick Marine (Company)">Patrick Marine</a> with its dedicated domain (<a href="http://patrickmarine.pl/charters/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">www.patrickmarinecharters.com</a>) achieved great success – roughly 40 weeks of charter per year with €70,000 net average charter price – the firm competes well with the average European brokerage house.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/257953/image/large-a07f72a3d62a33a0a9e786ae278d4888.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/257953">“We’re particularly proud of our charter team which we brought together just five years ago. Patrick Marine: How a boutique yacht company cornered the market and built a strong global presence

One of the yachting industry’s favourite shows, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/129" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma International Boat Show - 2022">Palma International Boat Show</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6679" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Village (Company)">Palma Superyacht Village</a> returns for 2022. The event previously known as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4309" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Show (Company)">Palma Superyacht Show</a>, will take place from 28th April to 1st May 2022 in the heart of Palma de Mallorca at Moll Vell Marina. The familiar and popular show offers an excellent display of superyachts above 24 metres that are available on the international brokerage and charter market.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/222707/image/large-a6bb6814f9d5cf95e711cd923b1c410f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/222707">When it comes to chartering, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6679" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Village (Company)">Palma Superyacht Village</a> is one of very few shows that welcome clients to inspect the yachts, instead of allowing access only to brokers. In addition, a wide variety of local and international refit and service companies will be at their booths, ready to do business and network with both old and new customers.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/222712/image/large-8bcc04b8a0b8fafd1fedae889e03de1f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/222712">&nbsp;The exhibitor bookings show a strong recovery from the pandemic-induced slowdown last year. &nbsp;From early March, the dock-side exhibition was just about fully booked, and much like the previous events, there is an important element of loyalty with a high percentage of returning exhibitors. Although the space is limited at the downtown harbour, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6679" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Village (Company)">Palma Superyacht Village</a> has always searched for ways to respond to the needs of the different segments of the industry. In 2017, the event saw the introduction of a Refit &amp; Repair Area which has since grown in popularity and is currently the first area to get booked up.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/222891/image/large-4403feb048bdc658d77e078bda544423.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/222891">This year sees the launch of yet another new concept, a crew area with a strong emphasis on professional training, crewing as a career and of course relaxed networking between professionals. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6679" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Village (Company)">Palma Superyacht Village</a> has teamed up with Acrew, a well-known Palma based professional network of over 15,000 captains and crew, to set up a training and networking hub on the Esplanade. This new concept will further enhance the show’s diversity and attraction among visitors and yachting professionals alike.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/222716/image/large-708bbdd64946d612de2aa9f0d52cfcfc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/222716">While details are being fine-tuned on the dock-side areas, including the new and exciting Crew Area, the moorings have been filling up at a fast rate. Brokerage yachts are normally booked very late for the simple reason that the availability status can change at a moment's notice, but this year the situation is different – never before have the yacht bookings been so active so early on. Hooper has just closed off an 18 year season with UK-based <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a>, where he rose the ranks to secure the position of Purchasing Director and member of the Board of Directors before joining <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2793" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fairline Boats Ltd (Company)">Fairline Boats</a> in 2019. The company are dedicating themselves to the provision of sustainable solutions to the current climate crisis, and firmly believe that as an industry, we are excellently set to turn the conversation into a reality.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197913/image/large-42d4f8eabe761a885ce17fcec2e22757.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197913">Can you tell me a little bit about your new role as Yacht Manager, and how you got started in this industry?I have been involved in the marine industry all my professional career, starting in marketing working with leisure marine brands like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/354" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sunseeker (Company)">Sunseeker</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2793" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fairline Boats Ltd (Company)">Fairline</a>, RNLI and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5777" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yamaha (Company)">Yamaha</a>. In 2007 I left marketing, moved to Mallorca and started working on yachts. I had a fantastic time and was very lucky to work at some amazing events, but by 2009 I was back in the UK working as a Technical Sales Manager in the Yacht department at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/354" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sunseeker (Company)">Sunseeker International</a>. We have seen a shift in thinking over the past couple of years. More and more people are aware of their impact on the environment. Some fantastic new initiatives have started to gather momentum looking at how we, as an industry as well as individuals, can have a genuine positive social, economic and environmental effect on our surroundings.This is something that we committed to and we recognise that change needs to happen now. That is why we have made a conscious decision to be at the forefront of innovation that enables the change that is required to make targets like carbon neutrality a possibility sooner rather than later. It’s fitting that superyacht builders are at the forefront of these technologies as the industry has the customers with the appetite and the resources to invest in the development required to make these a reality. It is vital for the continued development of these types of programmes that they are commercially viable in the future and part of that will be ensuring a solid, reliable infrastructure to supply the next generation fuels. Take for example <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>’s recent announcement that they are building a yacht with a Hydrogen Fuel Cell where the hydrogen is extracted from Methanol. A real milestone for the industry and something that will hopefully continue to be developed, and as it progresses, Peninsula will be working hard to ensure the rising demand for the new fuel can be met without compromise. Personally, I am very excited about the development of alternative, green energy solutions. Peninsula has the scale and resources to be at the forefront of this innovation. The future supply of the next generation of yachts has a big part to play in the development of the new propulsion systems and we have the knowledge and experience to ensure they are properly supported from day one.While developments in zero carbon propulsion systems is really exciting however, we must also consider the thousands of yachts already out there and the new yachts yet to be built that will have traditional drive systems. We are committed to working with all our stakeholders to look at ways that the environmental impact can be minimised throughout the supply chain. Whether that be through advancements in the fuel itself or looking at ways in which we can improve efficiencies, nothing is off the table.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/113514/image/large-199c0f473656b8f2ce1f203a5d7397ca.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/113514">The company has just undergone a rebrand, can you explain the motivation behind this and where you see yourselves in the future?The rebrand represents a lot more than just a new look and feel for the company, it represents a more appropriate picture of ‘today’s Peninsula’ and the future of our industry. The road to ‘zero carbon emissions’ represents a new challenge for bunkering and has been a major catalyst for Peninsula’s rebrand. The group’s dynamic and professional approach will secure its leadership status in ‘green marine’. The updated visual identity better represents Peninsula’s commitment to fully supporting customers with their transition into a more complex marine fuels environment. We are committed to a sustainable future and we will work hard to ensure we are at the forefront of marine energy’s efforts to minimise carbon emissions. It is vital that our brand properly reflects this vision and that we utilise all tools at our disposal to deliver the quality and flexibility for which Peninsula is synonymous.

This included debut boats from Sunseeker, including the largest yacht of the show, the Sunseeker 28 Metre weighing 78 tonnes, and yachts by Princess Yachts and Fairline Boats.Since then these boats, along with many others, have been manoeuvred into the South Hall surrounded by the busy preparations for the CWM FX London Boat Show.By Maarten Janssen

The eSprit was the focus of Fairline’s Concept Cinema at the 2014 London Boat Show, an all-new feature of the Fairline stand. Bio-derived epoxy resins with needle punched flax fibres are used in construction and the interior features ecoyarn upholstery fabrics, specially treated with a waterproofing plasma process. Recycled synthetic teak is used for the eSprit’s decking and the concept incorporates a solar panelled T-top that folds away to cover bow seating when not in use.The concept boat showcases an ergonomically optimised interior and includes a Multifunctional Steering Position with paddle throttles and integral LED control display.
