(Company)">Baglietto</a>. (Company)">Baglietto</a> carved out accommodation for as many as 10 guests, who’ll reside in one of her five staterooms. She can also carry nine crew. Arriving in crisp Vacallo this October, the little mountain town was abuzz with voices and the clinking of glasses as the gardens of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life</a> office were filled with guests, ready for the unveiling of a new series of explorer superyachts. Championed by the inimitable <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Person/1214" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Andrea Pezzini, Italy (Person)">Andrea Pezzini</a>, a man who has collected more experience in the industry than most teams have collectively on their staff (having started out as a yacht designer and worked in virtually every field from construction management to surveying since), <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life</a> is an all-inclusive yacht management service. With 19 yachts currently under management, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life</a> manages assets to the value of €128 million, with 140 crew selected between 2,600 direct crew contacts and a combined yacht length of 870 metres, no small feat for the Switzerland-based team. Following this short introduction, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Person/1214" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Andrea Pezzini, Italy (Person)">Andrea Pezzini</a> took over the spotlight to introduce the culmination of the last 10 years' efforts: the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">FL</a> Explorers. The series of full-custom superyachts, comprising three models; the 38.7-metre FL38, the 42.90-metre FL42 and finally the 47.2-metre FL47, all of which sit below 500 GT and have an impressive 5,000 nautical mile range. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210930/image/large-42eefc71c4b6fd1825f6aef44be72cd5.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210930">With all of the models, owners are given the opportunity to fully customise the superstructure design and interior spaces, but should they wish to retain the original design, Pezzini has packed the yachts full of unusual and innovative solutions. Here we will take a closer look at the FL42, which sits comfortably in the middle of the range and ticks all the boxes, including extensive range, expansive on deck space, a comfortable beach club and even the option to have an exclusive owner’s deck.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210907/image/large-e89c8b4f797d0b9f515d56abe54b03e3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210907">From the water, the FL42 strikes an aggressive yet sport profile, with bold lines from the bow to the aft and regular, heavily tinted windows punctuating the hull profile. The bow features high bulwarks that protect guests on the foredeck from the prevailing wind and rough seas, as well as from the onlook of other yachts anchored in proximity. The standard version has an angular upper deck with a prominent mast and large sundeck, while the owner’s deck version partly closes off the upper deck, creating a spacious suite with a private sitting room and terrace. Designed for long periods of cruising, this owner’s deck arrangement provides total privacy from the rest of the vessel, with independent access to the rest of the yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210905/image/large-7810de98a1b7c26329dcbb8f76095409.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210905">When viewed from the aft, one of the most striking features of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">FL</a> series is the centralised exterior stairways that all of the yachts share. Beginning directly from the large swim platform, which is home to a gym, and provides access to the spa and beach club, the stairwell leads guests to the main deck where two large sunpads span on either side of the vessel. Moving forward is a U-shaped settee, lowered into the deck where guests can enjoy a respite from the sun under a shaded bimini, or directly access the main deck communal spaces.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210913/image/large-cf4b6f7b5c1b8842cb288992ac1fbe19.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210913">Another central stairwell leads to the upper deck where the main table is found, flanked by sofas and with seats for as many as 10 guests. It is easy to picture yourself here, looking over the water, the light teak soft underfoot and mirrored in the rail that wraps around the bulwarks. To the starboard side is another stairwell, leading to the sundeck, with a Jacuzzi to the fore and sunbeds to the aft. The central masthead ingeniously holds a shower and toilet, meaning that guests can immediately cool off after lounging in the sunshine, without having to venture into the body of the yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210910/image/large-75f5eeecabb86c38df083fbb8300acc1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210910">Stepping inside, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">FL</a> series certainly does not disappoint and one of the most distinctive features of the yacht is the clever use of space and carefully considered access routes. The lower deck features four en suite staterooms, two doubles and two twins (though owners could also amend this to their preference), and all of the staterooms have a clear and direct line of access to the beach club.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210908/image/large-679bdcccb867fa2812998d2447f4b956.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210908">At the bow the nine crew are accommodated between four sizable cabins, with their own accessway to the upper decks. Up on the main deck is a large dining and lounge space, filled with light and with a deck that wraps 270 degrees around the yacht. From here the owner has direct access to their full beam master suite via a large office. This master suite, with its central bed and twin loos also features foldout balconies to port and starboard, further privatising the owner’s space with direct access to nature.The upper deck is home to a skylounge, with 360 degree wrap-around balconies, giving guests access to the protected foredeck. It is here where the wheelhouse is located, alongside the captain's cabin and pantry, likewise with private crew access through a central stairwell. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210911/image/large-e88cb51d321c5f00e41531e26e49f550.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210911">The yacht's interiors are in an elegant and classic palette of dark wooden panelling, grey leather furnishings and cream finishes. Shining white and grey marble is carefully placed throughout the interiors and there is a certain sense of unity and calm that punctuates the spaces. &nbsp;The bathrooms, finished in beautifully hewn stone with curved ceramic sinks, are comparable with some of the world’s top spas.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/210917/image/large-84db461701ef0acf8e4847c7f32fbf21.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/210917">With complete customisable options, including where the yacht is constructed, there is no doubt that these are yachts designed to appeal to any owner, and part of the motivation behind their design is exactly that. (Company)">Nauta Design</a>, as well as the complete renovation of her interior, and a fresh exterior hull paint job. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Loro Piana Interiors (Misa Poggi) (Company)">Pier Luigi Loro Piana</a> spoke at the relaunch, stating, “The most important element of this entire project was time. During this refit, a new swimming platform was also added. She features an original exterior design and naval architecture by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1095" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Blue Fin Yachts srl (Company)">Blue Fin Yachts</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199410/image/large-1d6068ad5bf57f4a507f8e6b57af0f17.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199410">Her original interior comes from the drawing boards of Italian designer, Andrea Pezzini, owner and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life Charter & Brokerage Ltd (Company)">Floating Life</a>, and have now been updated by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Loro Piana Interiors (Misa Poggi) (Company)">Misa Poggi</a>, and saw a reorganisation of the interior arrangement. In addition, the furnishings have been updated, as have the ceilings and floors.&nbsp;The explorer yacht is constructed with both a steel hull and superstructure. Performance-wise, Aspire can reach a top speed of 14.4 knots with a cruising speed of 13 knots. She has a range of 4,500 nautical miles and is operated by a crew of nine.Mario Pedol of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/153" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nauta Yachts S.r.l. (Company)">Nauta Design</a> commented, “We are particularly proud of this project that we were lucky enough to follow from the beginning, alongside the owner. The profile of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1798" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Masquenada51.0m (167'4&quot;)Penglai2007">Masquenada</a> is now much more sleek and elegant and, in redesigning the stern block, we have managed to improve the contact with the water and the liveability of this area, now transformed into a “pieds dans l’eau.” In addition to the aesthetic and architectural changes, many of her mechanical systems have been updated and refurbished.

<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/895" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lusben Shipyard (Company)">Lusben</a> have completed the refit of the 46.6-metre explorer motor yacht, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6034" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Audace42.8m (140'5&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2019">Audace</a>, originally launched from the Ancona shipyard, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2354" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) (Company)">Cantiere delle&nbsp;Marche</a> in 2019. The vessel underwent an extensive overhaul by the Lusben team, who notably extended her overall length from the original 42.2-metres, with a 2.4-metre extension at her stern, and a 2.2-metre extension at her bow. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/193878/image/large-221b917679f20c984c244486fcc8f1dd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/193878">The motor yacht, originally commissioned by the late Andrea Merloni of Fineldo and Indesit, was due to undergo the refit prior to her owner's death. After the incident, Merloni’s family moved to go forward with the intended modifications out of respect for her owner. Her previous owner was a major contributor to the works, collaborating with Andrea Pezzini, CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life</a> and the naval architect Mauro Sculli. The work has entirely amended the interior spaces of the motor yacht, which now has an increased top speed of 17 knots, from the original 15,8 knots, offered by new generators. Her consumption has also been reduced by 20%. In addition to the structural changes, her interiors have been refurbished, two lifts have been added and an emergency staircase from the owners suite has been installed. SuperYacht Times was recently invited to take a short cruise aboard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6034" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Audace42.8m (140'5&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2019">Audace</a> just prior to delivery to her owner.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/68490/image/large-b3cb4b0d4e2a7b070d15f830b92fb14a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68490">At just under 500GT and spread over five deck levels (including an under-lower deck) she is very high volume for her overall length. The high bow and chunky superstructure may not be to everyone’s taste and her general arrangement is certainly unconventional, but once on board the owner’s reasoning behind the styling and layout becomes much clearer. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/68515/image/large-ce7a701e474b12c3eab052dc4d87d248.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68515"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/68516/image/large-1be2e06a8f37f0074157915d6ead31c4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68516">“I’m single with no children, I have time on my hands, and I’m fortunate enough to have some money in the bank,” Andrea Merloni, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6034" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Audace42.8m (140'5&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2019">Audace</a>’s straight-talking Italian owner, told SuperYacht Times last summer.&nbsp;“I want to make the most of life and this yacht is my way of doing that.”Merloni, who plans to live year-round on board, had two principle requests in terms of design and layout. Firstly, he wanted a real explorer rather than a floating palace&nbsp;“full of marble and gold taps”; and secondly he wanted the entire top deck reserved for his own private use. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/68232/image/large-b05f9ea35468ede093b1202c575b6098.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68232"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/68223/image/large-f138cd9f90a5a96a3cc8ffaf47256a54.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68223">In fact, the owner’s deck can only be accessed by a private staircase with a security door at the foot of the stairs to prevent unauthorised access. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/68231/image/large-f4720ce05a960c739b102af5c6f4e0da.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68231">The cabin itself with double bathroom is located forward, and there is a small galley connected to the pantry so he doesn’t always have to rely on crew service. Aft of the staircase is a living area with comfy loungers and a giant flat-screen TV. With walk-around side decks, there is a Jacuzzi on the open aft deck.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/68225/image/large-5364a45a3921aab1e52eb34c1c9fa39d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68225">The upper deck wheelhouse has a Böning/Furuno integrated bridge system and an island console so crew on watch can get up close to the windshield, and there is also a Portuguese bridge. Behind the captain’s cabin, the rest of the deck is taken up with a cosy guest salon that can also be used as a cinema/media room overlooking the stern terrace.Half the length of the main deck is taken up by the open and semi-open aft deck. The open deck will carry a 10-metre custom tender being built by the owner when not in use or being towed and is deployed using an 8.9-tonne capacity crane that the owner specifically asked to be painted Ferrari red.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/68221/image/large-66527e655c095a67a5969d03920bce60.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68221"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/68222/image/large-cdc56095da174c2c18df6bd20505d4df.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68222">A similar but smaller crane in the bow is used to launch a customised land Rover Defender (yet to be delivered), a BMW GS 1200 off-road motorbike, a Jet Ski and the crew tender. Interestingly, the mezzanine deck in the bow is made of lightweight composites so it can be easily removed during loading operations. &nbsp;The owner did not want a formal salon on the main deck that would never be used. Instead, there is semi-enclosed, multifunctional space with a DJ station for partying and a TV screen that lowers from the ceiling and swivels 360°. Inside are two guest cabins with double doors that open onto the side decks. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/68226/image/large-29a56838d648a471db3e83ad67e8dcb8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68226">The lower deck aft is taken up by another multifunctional space that serves as a beach club or disco equipped with a sophisticated DJ and audio-visual system (the walls and ceiling are clad with extra-thick insulation to ensure all the sound stays inside the disco when in port). Amidships are two VIP suites with private fold-down balconies. The pro-spec galley fitted out by Marrone is enormous and can prepare food for up to 250 guests at a time. There is very comfortable and spacious accommodation for eight crew forward.“Another priority for me was the crew quarters,”&nbsp;says the owner. “As a live-aboard owner I spend more time with my crew than with my guests and – believe me – if they’re not happy, neither am I.”&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/68229/image/large-67afeca007cf9bba3006ddf9f202b0b5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68229">The under lower deck, highly unusual for this size of vessel, runs the length of the yacht. It is divided into various compartments comprising an aft control room, engine room, forward control room, laundry, refrigerated garbage room and cold storage. All the technical equipment, from valves and pumps to switchboards and stabilisers, is easy to access for maintenance and&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6034" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Audace42.8m (140'5&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2019">Audace&nbsp;</a>is able to cruise for weeks on end without re-provisioning or re-fueling (powered by twin CAT C32 Acert engines, at an economical 10 knots the explorer yacht has a range of 5,400nm)<img src="/uploads/store/photo/68228/image/large-581e86788ab70db7ec81ee767e1909db.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68228"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/68494/image/large-43dec2ecbb80f60f2d87a0fb28fa9950.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68494">Spartan by superyacht standards, the simple yet crisp interior decor is based throughout on teak joinery, blue-painted wood wall panels with matching soft furnishings, and Corian wet surfaces in the bathrooms. The owner resisted any attempt to add cosmetic frills and there is no marble or other exotic materials on board. Beginning as a master’s thesis for the young members of Studio Satura, the design of the K47 Taxilia yacht superyacht has already impressed a slew of potential owners, according to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life.</a><img src="/uploads/store/photo/63585/image/large-58e1516d492c2222493e4268815efb98.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63585">The team based their design of this superyacht concept Taxila K47 on the naval platform of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life’s</a> K-Series 45-metre yacht which was developed by Andrea Pezzini himself and has been lengthened to 47 metres in the final design. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/63584/image/large-8a8c825a9a1eb116f5c9dd4592d69e3b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63584">Along with her extended naval platform, K47 Taxila yacht features a refreshing combination of classic style and sporty lines. With exteriors designed to heighten guests' sense of contact with the marine environment, the vessel also incorporates several noteworthy features. We have already shown it to potential owners who found it very interesting indeed,” explains Pezzini. “The three designers have a very fresh yet sophisticated touch. I even put them in contact with my children so they could keep collaborating. New generation K47 Taxila yacht revealed

Audace, known as project K42, touched the water yesterday at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2354" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) (Company)">CdM</a> shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The 42.8-metre explorer superyacht was built for an Italian owner who will live onboard all year. The full-custom design includes a unique shape and special features such as the top-deck owner’s apartment, two discos and range of toys and tenders. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/60340/image/large-dab8da4686573b514ac88e825a8149ea.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60340"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/60354/image/large-555df9acf91011f312e86f2faaa78519.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60354"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2898" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Sculli (Company)">Studio Sculli</a> designed the new exterior and interior together with Floating Life and the owner. More specifically, Andrea Pezzini of design studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1087" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Floating Life (Company)">Floating Life</a> developed the yacht design and naval architecture with Mauro Sculli from Studio Sculli and the owner. Sergio Cutolo from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1181" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hydro Tec S.r.l. (Company)">HydroTec</a> supplied the superyacht’s engineering, which was project managed by Domenico Ranieri, who worked in close collaboration with the owner’s representative Andrea Pezzini of Floating Life. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/60344/image/large-29b2c6c1da56ec69d0a6401d9b51a79d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60344"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/60343/image/large-0ee0c3d56b37a75962435eeef381317a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60343">The four-deck layout, including a large tank deck, can accommodate guests in four staterooms: two on the lower deck with balconies and two on the main deck with direct access to the side passages. With nine berths for crew and a professional galley for two chefs to prepare meals for up to 250 guests, CdM has “created environments and amenities that perfectly fit his [the owner’s] lifestyle.” &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/60353/image/large-d9e24fa0bf384dfa1a2f31660b27e300.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60353">The 490GT superyacht is stocked with a Land Rover Defender, a BMW motorbike, water-ski, and crew tender, which are stored on the forward deck.
