Eidsvik Skipsbyggeri</a>, the yacht was originally delivered to her first owner in 1962. Brooklin Boat Yard has launched its latest custom sloop: the 27.86-metre Sonny III.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/36700/image/large-14f9cd1b5bc23fd0d71706f08b58eabc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/36700">Sonny III&nbsp;is a replacement for the owner's current 70' yacht which was built by the same yard. After 18 months of construction, the custom cold-molded vessel was christened last month and has just completed sea trials.As her new owner is a retired senior with limited mobility, he requested a yacht with more accessibility, with Sonny III&nbsp;incorporating unique modifications to provide solutions to this, including chair lifts at each companionway, a power reclining chair in the master cabin, a side-boarding ladder and a transom-boarding platform.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/36706/image/large-f105c67207bbce3f2e0da4317d1b357b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/36706">"We're proud to provide Sonny's owner with a yacht that performs to his high expectations and accommodates his unique needs,"&nbsp;said Steve White, president of Brooklin Boat Yard.&nbsp;"He's been a great collaborator on every boat we've built for him. This was a true challenge that required a lot of teamwork -- a highly customized, 91-foot yacht built in only a year and a half."With a flush deck and an aggressively raked bow, Sonny III is designed with performance in mind. Due to the aggressive build schedule, we began construction six weeks after we started working with the owner. This project could not have been possible without Brooklin Boat Yard's in-house designers who were invaluable, producing exceptional construction drawings."<img src="/uploads/store/photo/36705/image/large-203ee9cf487211bfe92dfc71dce06599.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/36705">On deck, Sonny III shows off her double headsail rig with hydraulic curlers built by Harken. The non-overlapping headsail configuration with chainplates pushed outboard greatly reduces loads and allows for a smaller mast section, winches and hardware. The mainsail has hydraulic in-boom furling and the carbon mast is from Offshore Spars, with 3Di sails by North Sails. &nbsp;Below deck,&nbsp;Sonny III has two guest staterooms in addition to the owner's master stateroom. An elliptical dining area adorns the main salon and the interior is finished in Herreshoff style with white and cream paint which contrasts with the American cherry joinery, leather, teak, and maple.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/36704/image/large-32274e21ba382db73f0a48fc1e1f4f33.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/36704">Due to the tight build schedule for Sonny III, portions of the hull and deck construction were subcontracted to the Maine-based yard, Rockport Marine located in Maine. This is not something out of the ordinary for Brooklin Boat Yard, which used Front Street Shipyard to build the composite deck for Sonny III's predecessor, Sonny II.&nbsp;"This project wouldn't have been possible without the collaboration and support of many partners,"&nbsp;commented White.&nbsp;"We achieved our high standard of craftsmanship within a consolidated timeframe through teamwork and a shared vision."

Brooklin Boat Yard launches custom sloop Sonny III

After spending the past winter season under cover inside Front Street Shipyard’s refit and repair facility in Maine, the classic 1930 motor yacht Atlantide has been returned to sea and is looking as good as new.

Amongst some cosmetic touch ups, Atlantide is now also fully equipped with modern surveillance and entertainment systems onboard. Her classic interior’s teak decks also received a new coat of varnish treatment and her distinguishing yellow funnel was repainted.

Classic motor yacht Atlantide completes refit at Front Street Shipyard

Northrop &amp; Johnson have announced the sale of the 38.4 metre Feadship superyacht Sirenuse with brokers Chris Chumley and Gregg Child having acted in behalf of the buyer. Built in 1978, Sirenuse has been well maintained since her launch and is one of the few yachts of her size who have embarked on a trip around the world, made possible by her impressive range of 4,500nm.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157000/image/large-fffb035f9ced1d7da13bda28cf99683c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157000">Sirenuse is currently at Front Street Shipyard in Main, USA where she will undergo yet another refit, her last one being 2004. According to the yard she will have much of her interior refitted as well as a new coat of exterior paint applied. Classic Feadship superyacht Sirenuse sold

The U.S. based Front Street Shipyard has announced that the 27.4 metre yacht Asha has been launched after spending the entire winter and spring at their facilities in Maine. Her extensive refit included exterior paint touch up’s, a comprehensive update of her interior, modernised galley, granite countertops in the master head and stonework in both showers as well as the addition of heated floor tiles.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153848/image/large-dea9b0e0e5bcc10e61a29a37caa5faf8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153848">Asha’s systems also required some maintenance and updating, and the team at Front Street Shipyard installed a new stern thruster. The hydraulic system also needed updating, and the team replaced almost all of the hydraulic fittings and hoses. In the power system, the shaft, flexible coupling and props were refurbished, and all major pumps were either replaced or rebuilt. Concluding the bulk of the work was the installation of several new electronics on board, as well as new nameboards.The team at Front Street Shipyard are currently finishing up some small projects. Upon completion, she will be heading south.

The 42 metre steel and wooden superyacht Cangarda (ex. Magedoma) has arrived at Front Street Shipyard in Maine, U.S. for her latest set of work. Built by Pusey &amp; Jones in 1901, this classic yacht has a colourful history. Like many yachts built prior to WWII, she played her part in the warfare of the 1940s, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. After the war she sadly fell into disrepair, and was mainly lost in a Boston Harbour sinking.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153849/image/large-e5342730ad13e18faa9030c16d61a228.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153849">Some of her remains were salvaged, however, and in 2004 a complete reconstruction begun. she was relaunched in 2009, and has been used as a private vessel since then, though her owners have opened her up to the public on occasion in the form of a museum.Work at Front Street Shipyard on Cangarda is scheduled to be completed towards the end of Spring this year.

The US builders Front Street Shipyard has revealed a new line of sailing yacht available for construction. Designed in-house in collaboration with Bill Tripp of Tripp Design Naval Architecture, the modern sloops include 84’, 102’ and 112’ versions with a range of interior options.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153074/image/large-835962462b47d8879fb75ae88e0c941f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153074">The 84’ and 102’ designs primarily feature flush decks yet have an aggressive low profile deckhouse aft of the mast, adding additional light in the spacious main living areas. The 112’ sloop is a true pilothouse boat. All three models include a central social cockpit protected by the deckhouse and an aft sailing cockpit.The sailing systems on Front Street Shipyard’s newest designs are fully hydraulic with carbon fiber rig packages. Twin headstay furlers provide a working jib on the inner stay and a reaching sail on the outer stay. There is a bowsprit to handle a Code Zero or Alpha sail and the mainsail has in-boom furling, and all winches are hydraulic self-tailing or captive, dependent on the model size.President of the shipyard, JB Turner, comments on the collaboration with Tripp, saying, “We’ve long hoped that we’ll have an opportunity to build new yachts with Bill Tripp, whose designs are renowned worldwide. Front Street Shipyard reveal new line of sailing yachts

Completed in 2004 by the US shipyard Hodgdon Yachts, the 47.15 metre ketch Asolare was originally built under the name Scheherezade and, at the time, was the largest cold-molded yacht ever built. A decade after her launch she was due for a minor refit, and in Autumn of last year, she arrived at the Front Street Shipyard in Maine for her Lloyd’s survey, a fresh paint and systems maintenance.<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" scrolling="no" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cUcxNxgMwpI" width="560"></iframe>Describing the systems work on the yacht, the shipyard comments, “Asolare’s systems are comprehensive, which meant we had to put all of our best technicians aboard. Working with the yacht’s crew, our team identified several updates that would put Asolare back in the water with more comfort for the crew and her guests."“Our electrical team ran a significant amount of new wire through the hull and mast for computer, electronics and entertainment systems. Some of Asolare’s hydraulics also needed maintenance, so we made upgrades to the most critical systems on board the boat.”She'll spend the winter cruising in warmer climes and is scheduled to return to Front Street Shipyard in Spring for some additional work ahead of the summer season.By Gemma Fottles

Front Street Shipyard in Belfast, Maine, has completed a refit of the 32.97 metre pilothouse sloop, Marae. Launched in 2004 by Alloy Yachts and originally named Paraiso, Marae spent five months at the shipyard completing her 10 year Lloyd's survey whilst undergoing systems upgrades, new paint and maintenance. Designed by Fontaine Design Group, Marae won "Best Sailing Yacht" from the International Superyacht Design Awards in 2004. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150365/image/large-bf40ad57caca53bd52c0873f88c0b216.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150365">The most intensive aspect of Marae's refit was a complete paint application including her hull, deck and superstructure. The finishes team at Front Street Shipyard made several corrosion and cosmetic repairs to the hull and deck before sanding and spraying multiple coats of Awlgrip.As part of the Lloyd's 10 year survey, the systems experts at Front Street Shipyard dropped the rudder, centerboard and both shafts, and then reinstalled them. The metalwork team fabricated several new and replacement parts, ranging from hull fittings and windlass parts to pedestals and bilge plumbing. The carpentry team updated her swim platform and made minor repairs to her interior.The shipyard are currently anticipating the arrival of two new refit projects in September, superyachts Axia and Asolare. Front Street Shipyard completes Marae Refit

Front Street Shipyard tells us they have become the home-away-from-home for two New Zealand-built superyachts, that just joined the yard after trips north from the Caribbean. These Kiwi sisters will be summering in Maine whilst undergoing refits.The 33 metre (108-foot) pilothouse sloop Marae will be getting new paint on both her hull and superstructure, as well as addressing systems and electrical needs. The yard will also be making some modifications to the owners' cabin.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148188/image/large-8804b737e601bc67600609ac145fc5dc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148188">The 29 metre Symmetry, built in 2004 by Yachting Developments, is a one-off custom yacht designed by Germán Frers. She's been a comfortable cruising boat around the world for the past decade, and is spending the next few months getting new paint from the top of her 130-foot mast to the bottom of her 12-foot keel. New rendering released of W.100' superyacht

Front Street Shipyard has relaunched the 130-foot superyacht Magic, which had arrived in September 2013 at the yard for a major refit. The vessel's owners commissioned Setzer Yacht Architects, Magic's original design team, to complete the redesign. <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/pdpsehkfvy4" width="560"></iframe> Design changes include a reconfigured sundeck layout, seen above, where her central radar mast has been replaced with a new arch and hardtop, as well as a day head addition.
