Her long sweeping lines stretch to a sleek reverse bow and wave piercing hull, engineered by naval architect Andrew Lea of Norson Design. Her sunken foredeck provides protection from the elements and gives guests onboard an outstanding feeling of privacy. Plenty of space has been designated for sunbathing; she has a sun deck complete with a Jacuzzi and bar, a large swimming pool to aft, and a generous beach club with a spa.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/213231/image/large-dfb410435f0257ae92e49c341e601df3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/213231">The G250 accommodates as many as 10 guests across five VIP staterooms. Ghost Yachts unveils the new Ghost G180F

Ghost Yachts has announce that it's finalizing the development of the new Ghost G180V. The 55 meter superyacht started life as a concept design in 2010 and is steadily evolving into a high end platform fit for production. The Ghost G180V has been further developed in close cooperation with leading superyacht builder Feadship who provided Ghost with their technical expertise and naval architecture experience. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/140955/image/large-cf546a0a144e7698a526962b055136cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/140955">Although the original concept of the Ghost G180V was the foundation for the new yacht, the design underwent numerous changes to meet the vigorous Feadship standards for build quality, safety, and comfort. Despite the changes Stefano Carugno, head of design partner Gloss Design, managed to enhance the yacht's mesmerizing appearance and its signature Ghost Yachts design language. Both Ghost Yachts and Feadship wanted to preserve the unique characteristics of the original concept. Like the original, the yacht is designed within the 500 Gross Tonnes limits. The low volume and, for a &lt;500GT yacht, exceptionally large length overall of 55 meter give the yacht her sleek profile and athletic proportions. De Voogt's innovative Naval Architecture, the slender length to beam ratio and lightweight construction form the fundamentals for the yacht's extraordinary performance. They turn the new Ghost into an all-round performer that easily travels at high speeds but, due to its high fuel efficiency, maintains the possibility for transatlantic cruising at moderate speeds in total comfort. 55 Metre superyacht Ghost G180V unveiled

Dutch yacht company Ghost Yachts is currently completing the final details of its first sailing yacht, a 130ft sailing sloop named G130SS. Like the company's motoryachts the sailing yacht is designed to push the boundaries of performance and style. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/138622/image/large-238c4459bb615e50fc383396f300b889.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/138622">The G130SS is specifically created as a High Performance sailing yacht and boasts a naval architecture that is highly influenced by modern ocean racing yachts. Dual rudders, lifting keel, flat top mainsail and a carbon sandwich hull with high form stability are just a number of details that emphasise the yacht's intentions to compete with the best in superyacht racing. Ghost Yachts unveils 40 metre sailing sloop G130SS

A little more than a year after the first presentation of the Fast Displacement Hull Form concept (FDHF, patent pending), to a scientific audience at the FAST 2009 Conference, followed in April 2010 by the first publication of the Heesen 6500 FDHF, Van Oossanen &amp; Associates (VOA) have secured orders for the naval architecture of 6 more FDHF motor yachts. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133480/image/large-58d0f08aa40fe40c9a652bbf540a2b63.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133480">In July 2009, when Heesen Yachts were looking into the possibility of a 65 metre yacht as their new flagship, Dutch naval architects Van Oossanen &amp; Associates had just completed the development of a break-through in hull design. Van Oossanen &amp; Associates convinced Heesen to adopt this new hull form, the FDHF, because the new performance driven 65 metre was the perfect platform to use as a prototype for this hull form. The Heesen 6500 FDHF is currently under construction. Efficiency and Flexibility The FDHF offers a solution to the problem of having to develop different hulls for the displacement and semi-displacement modes of operation. The FDHF hull is efficient in both speed ranges and thus offers great flexibility when wanting a semi-custom series for a wide speed range because the naval architecture and engineering do not require changing when the speed requirements change - as long as the engine room is sized for both small and large engines. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133481/image/large-61cc337efde4df551dd2db656b450ed5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133481">An additional benefit of the FDHF is that it has significantly lower resistance values in the semi-displacement speed range than comparable hard chine hull forms. Often this is seen to be around 15% less resistance, which directly translates into lower required power levels to achieve the required speed. This superior performance at semi-displacement speeds does not compromise the performance at lower speeds. At cruising speeds the FDHF is as efficient as a well-designed round bilge displacement hull form. Model tests have proven the concept without a shadow of doubt. On the Drawing Board At the closure of 2010 six different designs based on the FDHF are on the drawing board at VOA. Two of these are smaller motor yachts: the Rivocean 1900 and the Storm 72, ordered by Dutch yards. Both of these have a maximum speed of well over 20 knots, and are required to be exceptionally fuel economic at lower cruising speeds. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133482/image/large-0952112228f03d08806c768e3836126a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133482">Another two designs of these are 50 metre, 500 GT motor yachts: a fully custom yacht for a private client, and the lead vessel of a series of semi-custom yachts for RMK Marine. The first 3 of these yachts are to a concept designed by Omega Architects, while for RMK Marine both Omega Architects and Espen Oeino have prepared a design. The Ghost Yachts series (G180, G180V and the G180H) are also under development. An exciting new FDHF project that has come just before the end of the year is a 73 metre motor yacht, also for a private owner. Furthermore, a number of yards, including some of the top yards in The Netherlands, as well as abroad, is currently considering the FDHF for their new designs, as a step up from current technology. Further Refinements Meanwhile Van Oossanen &amp; Associates have not stopped the development of the FDHF. The concept has been refined further since the first design in 2009. Research at VOA is now focused on optimizing the FDHF for a vertical stem configuration. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133483/image/large-2f0944964b96736e81fff9839fed8c26.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133483">For this, and for other general hydrodynamic optimization work, VOA is developing a fully automated optimization routine which features the Friendship Framework as a parametric modeler and optimizer, in combination with the fully viscous RANSE solver ISIS-CFD from Fine/Marine. Van Oossanen & Associates’ FDHF is gaining ground

Nearly a year after the presentation of Ghost Yachts' Ghost G180, the team of Ghost Yachts and the Italian design studio Gloss Design joined forces with Imtech Marine &amp; Offshore on the development of the Ghost G180H, the first full hybrid superyacht. The G180H is the company's next step towards more sustainable, innovative and efficient superyachts. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133144/image/large-93ffe4a072a348d09338a6b06b484dc3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133144">A solid foundation Ghost Yachts used its Ghost G180 platform for the hybrid yacht. Its Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) by Van Oossanen &amp; Associates offers the required efficiency to operate a large yacht with a relatively modest propulsion power. Imtech's smart Hybrid system combined with Van Oossanen's revolutionary FDHF have proven to be a perfect combination for a sustainable and efficient yacht. During the development of the system, Imtech managed to unravel the initial complexity of the Hybrid system and shaped it into a compact and sensible unit. Ghost Yachts reduced the required technical space by dividing the Hybrid's technical space in two levels. The silent parts of the hybrid system like the Power Electronics Panels, batteries, and main switchboard are located on the lower deck while the four Volvo Penta D16G generators are located in an insulated engine bay underneath the electronics room. The Ghost G180H is propelled by two completely new electric Voith Inline Propulsors (VIP) of 750kw each. These high efficiency hubless steerable pods have an integrated electric motor and eliminate the need for propeller shafts and rudders. The Voith VIP's and Imtech's Hybrid system result in an extremely silent and vibration free propulsion system. The Hybrid system operates in seven different modes ranging from battery only to full hybrid operation. Each mode is specifically designed to ensure an optimal efficiency in every situation. The system is controlled by Imtech's new IMAS variable frequency drives control system, with interfacing and remote control via the FT NavVision IPMS system. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133145/image/large-6d3321d47f1c751cfe75d71ec17fcff5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133145">Smart interior The G180H has been thoroughly reviewed to learn about the power consumption in navigation and at anchor. The prime consumers have been reviewed to see how much power could potentially be saved. To reduce the power requirement for the chillers and fancoils the G180H's windows are coated with a ceramic film that blocks out up to 80% of the sun's heat producing infrared light. The HVAC system is assisted by a cold water storage to extend the operational time of the system during battery only operation. The interior of the yacht is also designed to require less energy from the HVAC system. The main salon and dining room, for example, are equipped with four generous lateral sliding doors which provide access for a natural breeze that flows through the superstructure. The layout will create a more natural and balanced climate inside this large space by virtually connecting it to the outside areas. Van Berge Henegouwen reworked the AV and communications systems to optimise power consumption. A thorough review of the systems' components and the extensive use of LED lighting guaranteed a lower energy consumption. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133146/image/large-c2a5f682cbeede867b2d98c765af4d53.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133146">Remarkable results Ghost Yachts has compared the G180H to a number of modern displacement yachts with a comparable length and volume. The overall fuel consumption was reduced by a vast 30% while the fuel consumption for hotel operation showed savings of up to 50%. The performance of the yacht is perfectly in line with today's superyachts offering a cruising speed of 15.5 knots with a range of over 4500nm at a 13 knots passage speed. "Developing the G180H was very rewarding." Björn Moonen of Ghost Yachts explains. "In the beginning I approached the project with suspicion rather than enthusiasm. I was convinced that a hybrid system would be too complicated, too big and too expensive to build." he continues. "The Imtech engineers were clearly not sharing my opinion. They developed the hybrid system's layout with my concerns as starting point. These models also shared from the benefits of the hybrid's development, confirming the need for efficiency to create speed. The G180V offers a 32knots cruising speed and a 36knots top speed. An updated centre boost unit gives the G180V a top speed of nearly 50 knots. The efficiency of the yacht is probably best displayed with a range of 4750nm at a passage speed of 15 knots. Ghost Yachts present the G180 Hybrid superyacht

Ghost Yachts and Jongert Shipyard have entered into an agreement to cooperate in the building of the 55 meter motor yacht G180. At the end of November 2009 Ghost Yachts introduced the particularly innovative G180. The spectacular design of the G180 is a creation of the Italian company Gloss Design. The unique “Fast Displacement Hull Form” is developed by the renowned naval architects Van Oossanen &amp; Associates. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/130344/image/large-250f2fdc8d9c6a4a6f681546482de5b3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/129697">The decision to choose Jongert as a partner for building the G180 was a logical one, according to Björn Moonen, managing director of Ghost Yachts. “Jongert Shipyard is one of the most modern and best equipped shipyards in the world for building superyachts and they dispose of an extremely skilled workforce. The same applies to their subcontractors. Another important fact is that the Netherlands are pre-eminently known for their yacht building industry. We aim at building ecologically and as energy efficient as possible. This means for us that we take care of an optimal design and avoid unnecessary transports. All Jongert’s suppliers and subcontractors are located within a radius of 100 kilometers of the shipyard. The yacht will be built from hull to finish on the same location.” Another point for the decision to cooperate with Jongert is the fact that the company was taken over in 2009 by a syndicate consisting of three strong private parties and RABO Bank, the only commercial AAA rated bank in the world. “It’s a great challenge to build this innovative yacht in cooperation with Ghost Yachts, the Italian designer Gloss Design and the naval architects Van Oossanen &amp; Associates”, says Folkert Brongers, general manager of Jongert Shipyard. “A yacht like the G180 has never been built before. The shape of the hull is unique. This means that in the preparation for and during the building a strong appeal will be made to the craftsmanship of our workforce. We don’t just follow a design. The hull has a much lower resistance than a traditionally designed normal displacement hull. The difference in resistance of this hull design compared to a normal semi displacement hull is extreme. Thanks to the Fast Displacement Hull Form any type of engine can be chosen. Whatever engine is used, the G180 runs perfectly. If you feel comfortable with a speed of 13 to 14 knots, 2 x 820 hp engines will do the job. Thanks to the special hull the desired speed can be reached at a much lower number of revolutions, giving much better and comfortable sailing characteristics and considerably lower fuel consumption and consequently a much larger sailing radius. At this moment the finishing touch is put to the design of the second Ghost model, the G180V. This model combines all efficiency advantages of the G180 with the possibility to reach a maximum speed of around 40 knots. Ghost Yachts starts cooperation with Jongert Shipyard

The Dutch yacht company Ghost Yachts and Italian design company Gloss Design unveil their first project to the public, the Ghost Yachts G180. The yacht embodies the best of two of the leading superyacht building nations. The G180's design brief stated the desire to create a form that displays a sophisticated but uncomplicated design. It should be equally impressive and elegant. It also had to be instantly recognisable and friendly to build. Gloss Design produced a form that cleverly incorporates these requirements without compromising construction methods or the need for a large amount of custom made components. The exterior styling distinguishes itself by using lighting angles to emphasise the shape. With it's distinctive bow, 180' LOA and 30' beam the yacht displays it's powerful yet graceful proportions. Gloss Design has also been careful with the incorporation of design details that could become the centre of attention. The current issue of reducing the ecological impact of superyachts was taken into consideration by Ghost Yachts. Popular hybrid diesel/electric options proved to be insufficiently sensible for the concept of the G180. To maintain the goal of emissions reduction Ghost Yachts contacted the renowned Dutch Naval Architects Van Oossanen &amp; Associates. Over the past 10 years Van Oossanen have developed the Fast Displacement Hull Form. The hull form has less resistance compared to other hull forms commonly used, and also offers the possibility to reach semi-displacement speeds in excess of 20 knots. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/129699/image/large-7ef81766f9910521916660f9840f8078.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/129699">The input and experiences of industry professionals like captains, brokers and crew members proved themselves to be a highly valuable asset during the development of the G180. Various layouts have been tried and tested and Ghost Yachts decided to present a preliminary layout that will inspire owners to rethink the way they arrange their yachts rather than offering a fixed standard option. The yacht is developed as a semi-custom platform that allows flexibility in the interior layout. The vertical bow configuration not only resulted in improved seakeeping capabilities, it also offered a larger interior volume in the forward part of the lower and main deck. The benefits of the extra space resulted in larger crew accommodations and a tender storage on the main deck that can hold an 8.5 metre guest tender and a 6 metre crew tender. The preliminary layout shows logical onboard logistics for both crew and guests. It can either be used as an annex for the owners' stateroom or separated from the stateroom in case extra space is required for social events. The generous guest rooms have been planned on the forward main deck where they efficiently use the available space. The lower deck offers two VIP suites which offer an unsurpassed living area. Both suites are equipped with a separate lounge where the guests can enjoy a private moment after an exhilarating day at sea. The G180's technical platform has been developed to be as sustainable and production friendly as possible.
