The judging process proved enjoyable and challenging for the panel, given the high calibre of the nominees.After hours of debate and careful consideration, the panel of judges reached a unanimous decision, selecting three distinguished individuals as laureates deserving of recognition for their exceptional contributions to the superyacht industry. Monaco Yacht Show is without a doubt one of the cornerstones of the industry, and it's had quite a journey. SYT dives into the history of the event.

After a year of uncertainty, <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palm Beach International Boat Show - 2021">PBIBS 2021</a> is back. The show will take place on the weekend of 25-28 March along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach, the US.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/30218/image/large-8673d8081c2f8ea4435b9b181f1304bc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/30218">This year marks the 35th annual edition of the event, which is set to showcase more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts and accessories. The line-up includes hundreds of boats ranging from 2.5-metre inflatables to superyachts up to 92 metres.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/114971/image/large-d13b0031183412a92551fe76d7c75d5c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/114971">Wise up on water sports&nbsp;The show this year is set to feature fun, educational activities including a new space called AquaZone and a fishing clinic for children by Hook the Future.&nbsp;AquaZone is described by organisers as “a show within a show”, an experience that utilises water sports and innovative products to keep visitors entertained. Previously held in a 40,000-gallon pop-up fresh water pool, the AquaZone’s new open-area location on the Intracoastal Waterway will allow product demonstrations to reach higher speeds and go for longer distances.&nbsp;Located on the south end of the show, it will provide in-water demos on all show days. The area will also serve as a one-stop learning shop to pick up water sports knowledge and product information. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/117704/image/large-cf2b6886669d4e03e66bfa576d74682f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/117704">Keep the family entertainedAspiring anglers aged four to 16 can visit <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palm Beach International Boat Show - 2021">PBIBS</a>’ fishing clinics to receive instruction in basic fishing techniques. Run by Hook the Future, these clinics offer interactive instruction for children and teens that want to learn how to select tackle and lures, cast a rod and reel, learn how to reel in a fish, as well as learn to understand fishing ethics. Children that complete all the learning stations are in with a chance to win a prize.Hosted by Captain Don Dingman, the clinics take place in the Meyer Amphitheater field between Datura and Evernia Streets inside the show grounds. They will be held on Saturday, March 27 at noon and 2 pm, and also on Sunday, March 28 at 1pm and 3pm.&nbsp;Fishing-averse family members need not fret, there is plenty to keep the others entertained too. Other attractions on the day include live music and refreshments at the show’s floating cocktail lounges; guests are invited to come by boat and can tie up to free docks located south of the in-water boat displays.&nbsp;Treat yourself to a VIP Experience&nbsp;The show’s Windward Club offers visitors the chance to embark on a VIP experience of <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palm Beach International Boat Show - 2021">PBIBS</a>. Attendees will have access to a premium open bar, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, happy hours, and exclusive events in a unique indoor and outdoor lounge setting. Centrally located inside the Lakeside Pavilion on Flagler Drive, the Windward VIP Club is open from Thursday through to Sunday during show hours. The layout of the event has been updated and the entire exhibition will take place in the open air. Plus, there will be six entrances and exits to ease pedestrian traffic and promote social distancing. Attendees will also be required to wear masks.&nbsp;President of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5342" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Informa (Company)">Informa Markets</a> U.S. Boat Shows Andrew Doole explains: “The health and safety of our staff, exhibitors, visitors, and community remains our number one priority.” He goes on to say, “We also recognise the importance of our boat shows to the local and state economy, and the marine industry at large. After the large majority of <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/news/events" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">live events have been cancelled</a> this year, <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/flibs-2020-go-ahead" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">last week’s news from Fort Lauderdale</a> may have been a pleasant surprise for many. After a series of government meetings, it was finally confirmed that the 2020 edition of the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fort Lauderdale International Yacht Show - 2020">Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS)</a> <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/flibs-2020-go-ahead" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">will go ahead.</a> <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/103685/image/large-5bb26aa88c2b0ef1d1e1d71af432fac8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/103685">The set up may not quite be the same as there are many health and safety protocols that will be added, but show organisers Informa are confident the show will be a success and is exactly what the industry needs at this time. To find out more about their new adapted plans to host the show, SuperYacht Times spoke with Andrew Doole, President of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5342" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Informa (Company)">Informa</a> U.S. Boat Shows, who shared some insight into the situation. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/175117/image/large-fee899f0125705ded48eda9d650e03ae.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/175117">Did you have any doubts that FLIBS would not be allowed to happen? What were the reasons it was allowed to go ahead? &nbsp;In my opinion, unless the state was shut down again there was no reason to shut down the event. It is a shame that other shows have been cancelled. In Florida, the number of positive covid-19 cases has been declining. We are looking forward to Broward County and the City of Fort Lauderdale moving into phase two of reopening. &nbsp;We recognise the importance of the show and have spoken with key stakeholders, customers and local government officials, and the resounding response has been in support of moving forward with the event. Also, the very detailed operational plan we submitted met both city and county protocols. It is a 40-page document on how we are going to operate the show and includes our AllSecure plan which outlines our significant efforts to safeguard the show. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/103690/image/large-2bdbfa112446da48cebfa4e20ff1b82a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/103690">What health and safety measures can visitors expect to find? Has Informa seen these measures in practice at any other events? &nbsp;Face coverings will be required across the whole site and everyone will be able to social distance with visible markers every 1.5 metres. We have an enormous amount of hand sanitising stations, thermo-imaging systems for temperature checks and an air purification system that can change 3,000 cubic feet of air every hour. &nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5342" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Informa (Company)">Informa</a> has hosted multiple safe and successful events in Asia using the temperature scanning machines and the AllSecure health and safety guidelines. These machines can scan multiple people at a time. &nbsp;We have a strict regime for enhanced cleaning throughout the show – including on our increased water taxi and bus services. Food and drink services will also be adapted with single-use, disposable covered containers to keep everyone safe. All of these details and more have been shared on our website, so hopefully, visitors will know what to expect. &nbsp; &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/104441/image/large-01d505ca3986ee8e33e3a611c2e09ff3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/104441">If the turnout isn’t as expected, are the show organisers predicted to or willing to make a loss?&nbsp;There are many positive factors that are contributing to our optimism: the rise in boat sales since the onset of the pandemic, the pent-up demand for life on the water and that more than 80% of the show is completely outdoors.&nbsp;The additional plans have been made possible at a huge expense in order to safeguard the show so that each and every exhibitor and attendee can participate with confidence. The show is really important, not only for the industry but to the South Florida community. Hotels, restaurants and many other small businesses rely on the show happening – especially as last year’s show generated a $1.3billion economic impact. We are looking forward to an active show. &nbsp;
