Island Global Yachting announces expansion plans

IGY has announced its acquisition of Fairport Yachting Support, its new IGY Trident program and an expansion into Sardinia.

The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2184" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Island Global Yachting (Company)">IGY</a> Marina Málaga will offer superyachts berthing in the centre of one of Spain’s busiest cities.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/193822/image/large-31db2a52a106ee39ad42870c5ad4189d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/193822">With the construction loan now closed, development will begin for the marina, which will feature all new amenities and infrastructure, for the accommodation of yachts between 24 and 180-metres, making it one of the larger marina’s in Europe.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/193821/image/large-84422da6a8c3e3c4328fae4425cc98ff.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/193821">The marina will include additions such as in-slip waste pump out and management, vessel concierge and power for up to 2000 amps. The marina will be developed and constructed during the summer of this year, with plans to fully open by the end of 2021. This means that superyachts will be able to begin taking advantage of the new marina during the winter season.

The destruction that engulfed many islands in the Caribbean ahead of the winter season as a result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria was one of the most devastating natural disasters the region has seen. Barbuda, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, St Barths and Sint Maarten were just some of the islands that were worst hit in September. Though international relief was swift and generous in many cases and a number of the islands are on a sure road to recovery, many of the islands are still struggling to return to normality.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/21998/image/large-e828aadcc74f62101618de928c20f118.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/21998"> As the memory fades for those who are not directly affected by the hurricanes, IGY Marinas are doing their bit to continue relief efforts with the establishment of the NYC Eastern Caribbean Relief Fund, created and funded by IGY and their parent company Island Capital Group. So far the charity has received contributions from several of IGY’s partners and investors, and recently selected five local charities in the Eastern Caribbean to receive the first round of donations totalling $125,000.“In the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the humanitarian needs throughout the Eastern Caribbean are profound,”&nbsp;comments Tom Mukamal, Vice Chairman of the NYC Eastern Caribbean Relief Fund and CEO of IGY Marinas.&nbsp;“The NYC Eastern Caribbean Relief Fund Inc. has recognised the substantial need throughout the Caribbean Islands and is dedicated to raising funds to continue the support as much as we can. IGY Marinas continue relief efforts in the Caribbean 

As a member of the IGY Anchor Club Loyalty Program created by IGY Marinas, Vibrant Curiosity has been racking up points since January 2012 while docking at an IGY owned marina. IGY Anchor Club members earn points for simply docking at an IGY marina, the 42k+ points equating to approximately 40 nights of dockage.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/146467/image/large-062a2196610f1126bec71dc845e5a8bf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133596">“We discussed what we should do with the accumulated points and Captain Jeff, my reliever, suggested we donate them to charity,” states Captain Mats Bengtsson, one of the rotational Captains aboard M/Y Vibrant Curiosity. The owner concurred.This is not the first time M/Y Vibrant Curiosity has donated to YachtAid Global. When it came time to pay the agent services bill for lining up tours and other details at North Island Marina at Port McNeil, British Colombia, marina owner Steve Jackman suggested the fee be donated to YachtAid Global. Steve Jackman is a huge supporter of the charity and was even on hand at the Admiral Technomar USA Launch event held at Chima restaurant during FLIBS 2013, where YAG was a partner in coordination with Lucid Yachts.YAG Founder Mark Drewelow introduced the yacht to YachtAid Global when they became a client of Drewelow’s Superyacht Port Agency, C2C, Inc. in April 2013 due to their extensive cruising schedule. “Vibrant Curiosity is a great client of C2C and is a perfect fit for the YachtAid Global program. BWA Yachting signs agreement with IGY Marinas

Island Global Yachting (IGY) held the Grande Opening of its first luxury yacht development — Yacht Haven Grande — on March 17, in St. Thomas, USVI. Celebrating in a backdrop of more than 50 megayachts, dignitaries and heads of state from around the Caribbean islands including Governor John P. DeJohngh were in attendance. In addition, celebrities, financiers, and real estate executives from such diverse places as New York, Miami, and Dubai flew in for the festivities, which included 150 local performers, a Beach Boys Concert, and a grande finale of fireworks over the harbor. Yacht Haven Grande broke ground in 2004 and today represents the most comprehensive advanced marina and upland facility in the Caribbean. Dubbed a “playground by the sea,” Yacht Haven Grande has already hosted some of the world’s most spectacular megayachts at its state-of-the-art docks and marina facilities.
