She offers an interior and exterior design by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Q London (Company)">Q London</a> laid onto a hull by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Diana Yacht Design B.V. (Company)">Diana Yacht Design</a>, a 3,600 nautical mile range, 295 GT of interior volume and accommodation for up to eight guests. James Ratcliffe, Managing Partner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Q London (Company)">Q London</a>, explained that he stuck to a clean, minimalist interior design that’s flexible and easy to customise, to keep her appeal high for a wide range of potential clients. In lieu of traditional teak, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Q London (Company)">Q London</a> opted for the more sustainable substitute, designed by Tesumo.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/220717/image/large-f799c97d07d211a4a2b0ff37a67c1f26.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/220717"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/220715/image/large-6b30f54aa3d456d4505380ee7e090ed1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/220715">But what makes Project Fox truly unique is that her design pivots on her 103.5 square-metre main deck aft, which boasts heaps of space for tenders, toys and all the paraphernalia necessary for adventure. When deployed, the spacious main deck is versatile and can cater to an all manner of needs. The vessel was built in Holland at &nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/20" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V. (Company)">J. &amp; K. Smits Scheepswerven</a> in 1961 and was transformed into the luxury vessel we see today in 1981. <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/itasca">Itasca</a> was originally built to cross oceans while towing extreme vessels and this power and transoceanic range of 16,000 nm makes her the ideal explorer superyacht. Out of a superyacht fleet spanning 4,981 yachts currently in operation, there are those vessels with stories behind them which are truly remarkable. Smits Scheepswerven N.V.1957">Seawolf.</a> Built by<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/20" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V. (Company)">&nbsp;J &amp; K Smits Scheepswerven N/V&nbsp;</a>in the Netherlands in 1957 as the steel tugboat Clyde,&nbsp;she underwent conversion works to transform her into a unique expedition superyacht. The work was done in Astilleros de Mallorca between 1998 and 2004. But this is not just any superyacht: <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/697" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seawolf58.83m (193'0&quot;)J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V.1957">Seawolf&nbsp;</a>back in 1957, where this fascinating part of yachting history began. Once upon a time, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/697" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seawolf58.83m (193'0&quot;)J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V.1957">Seawolf&nbsp;</a>was originally commissioned by the now-defunct shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/20" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V. (Company)">J &amp; K Smits&nbsp;</a>in Kinderdijk in the south of the Netherlands, to a design by Dr J. A. C Hoogenbosch. Both boats began their hardworking careers as tugs, towing flattops from the US to Belgium and Japan, cargo ships to scrap yards and drilling platforms to various destinations all around the world. All this labour was made possible by Clyde’s two Smit-MAN six-cylinder, four-stroke diesel main engines generating 1390 horsepower each. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/697" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seawolf58.83m (193'0&quot;)J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V.1957">Seawolf&nbsp;</a>still makes the most of these original engines during her world-cruising expeditions today. Boasting a top speed of 13 knots, a cruising speed of 10 knots and range of 9,600 nautical miles at economical speed. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/78440/image/large-f8782f7b32ae2967bd7d862ee87af9ec.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/78440">This first chapter in Clyde’s career came to a close in 1977 when she was sold to Matsas Salvage. She worked for 13 years at the salvage company in Greece until she was bought by a German towage enthusiast and gifted her the lupine name,&nbsp;Seawolfe. In 1998, it was all to change again. and a Greek owner based in the Caribbean took a shine to Seawolfe. He made the biggest decision in her career: to convert <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/697" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seawolf58.83m (193'0&quot;)J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven N.V.1957">Seawolf&nbsp;</a>from a tugboat into a luxury yacht. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/68002/image/large-0e65e0b43c7dac3cd40de5833971562f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/68002">Maintaining her distinctive and rugged tug outline,&nbsp;Seawolfe’s transformation took five years of hard grafting. The work was completed at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/211" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Astilleros de Mallorca S.A. Dedicated to the refit, repair and maintenance of large yachts from 20 to 75-metres, the Atollvic Shipyard in Vigo, Spain, regularly carries out work on some of the world’s most interesting yachts, none more so than last December’s refit of the classic tug Seawolf, for the fourth time.

With a varied and complicated list of works which can usually take at least six months to complete, Atollvic successfully completed the project within a little more than three months utilising the maritime skills and experience of up to 65 shipwrights and sub-contractors, often working on board in simultaneous harmony.

The work included the rebuild of her main engines, sandblasting and complete bottom paint antifouling and hull-partial superstructure with an Awlgrip scheme. Other work included aft-deck crane refurbishment, interior furniture repair and varnishing, crew shower renewal, some teak repairs, full revision of two generators, bilge piping repairs, gas exhaust cleaning and galley exhausts, steel works in the anchor pockets, hawse pipe and SS cut water plate, all external doors for the superstructure repairs and design and supply-installation of the aft thruster clutch was done.

Summarising the range and depth of their achievement, Mr. Marco Villar, Atollvic Shipyard Managing Director, said: “The only possible way we could account for the necessary skills and quality of work required to complete this kind of intensive work schedule, including the painting as the most challenging issue, in such a short amount of time, was by calling upon the significant maritime skills and labour resource that we have access to in this amazing Ría de Vigo area, in the northwest of Spain.”

Seawolf’s Captain, Shaun L. Preacher, added: “As Project Manager as well as Captain, I found the yard personnel to be self-motivated, highly skilled, with a work ethic that is second to none. The skill with which they performed their work is on par with the finest yards in Europe and the finished works on M/Y Seawolf attest to their abilities. I would bring any future project either re-fit or new build to Atollvic Shipyard and would certainly bring Seawolf back.”

She was converted to the luxury superyacht we see her as today in 1980.Constructed with a steel hull and superstructure, she is Lloyds Registered and accommodates up to 10 guests on board as well as a crew of up to 12. Performance wise, she is powered by twin Smit Man RABL-459 1,250 hp engines, giving her a maximum speed of 12 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots.
