It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of broker Anthony De Kerdrel. Anthony passed away following a short but courageous battle with cancer.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363106/image/large-a1af5b70fd97dd761bccb3d2d1b46493.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363106">Anthony’s influence on the yachting industry spanned multiple decades, during which time he built a reputation in yacht construction and brokerage. Anthony began his professional journey in the art world, before transitioning into the yachting sector.His entry point came through Whistocks Chandlers in Suffolk, which soon led to yacht building with Colvin Craft and the Carter 30 sailing yachts. In the years that followed, Anthony rented space at the Brooke yard in Lowestoft, before seizing the opportunity to build larger, custom yachts. With the support of a dedicated investor, he became Managing Director at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/16" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brooke Marine Ltd. (Company)">Brooke Marine</a>, where he oversaw the creation of several landmark vessels.Among his most notable projects were <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Maridome54.0m (177'2&quot;)Brooke Marine Ltd.1989">Maridome</a>, designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8232" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jon Bannenberg Ltd (Company)">Jon Bannenberg</a> and G Whiz&nbsp;now&nbsp;Argo, a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/16" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brooke Marine Ltd. (Company)">Brooke Marine</a> build for Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou. These and many other yachts under Anthony’s leadership reflected his eye for innovation, quality and craftsmanship.In the late 1990s, Anthony turned his attention to yacht brokerage, where he once again made a profound impact. He joined <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a> as one of its first sales brokers in London, later establishing the firm’s country office in Woodbridge, Sussex. Over a 15-year career in brokerage, he became a trusted figure among clients and colleagues alike.Anthony had a quiet but powerful way of nurturing younger brokers, always willing to share his experience, offer encouragement, and lead by example. He never sought the spotlight, but his kindness and strength of character left an indelible mark on those around him.After retiring from the industry, Anthony embraced a new chapter, dedicating more time to his family and enjoying life with his grandchildren. Her interior, styled by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1193" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seccombe Design (Company)">Seccombe Design</a>, offers generous volumes and a light, contemporary finish throughout. Boasting an impressive volume of 7,841 GT, the yacht showcases expansive interior spaces and features a superstructure lined with full-height curved windows, flooding the upper decks with natural light. Her standout features include a private owner’s deck outfitted with a panoramic saloon and a spacious aft deck. Designed for global cruising, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/237" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rising Sun138.6m (454'9&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2004">Rising Sun</a> is powered by four <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1409" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MTU (Company)">MTU</a> engines, delivering a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots. Formerly known as Lady A, she was sold last April and has completed an extensive refit this spring in Gibraltar. Her Art Deco-inspired saloon includes sculptural accents, black marble-topped tables, and cream leather finishes, adding a sense of timeless elegance. With a volume of 879 GT, she accommodates 12 guests across six staterooms, including a full-beam master suite with a private study, Jacuzzi, and generous wardrobe space.
