Platinum Marine Services launched the 120’ Spirit of 2010 motor yacht amid the fanfare of the 2009 Vancouver International Boat Show. The custom superyacht refit project was commissioned by a local Vancouver firm who plan to use the vessel for exclusive charters. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/127135/image/large-5650adb42b1ba5a7ee3ff90115425bbf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/127135">Platinum Marine Services commenced the project from an existing decommissioned yacht. It was stripped down to the bare hull for a complete refit including new bulkheads, stringers, web frames and new structures. Platinum Marine built the yacht to stringent Transport Canada safety standards. Naval Architect George Roddan designed a bulbous bow to increase fuel economy and improve sea keeping. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/127136/image/large-0e88f49ad6500e00fb07eb63eedc9716.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/127136">Spirit of 2010 is powered by C-18 Caterpillar engines which produce 1050 HP per side. The engines are smaller than the norm for a vessel of this size but fuel efficiency is a priority, the bulbous bow adds to the fuel economy. The vessel tops out at 17 knots but sea trials have produced results showing cruising all day at 12 knots will burn only 35 gallons per hour total on both mains. The interior of the vessel was designed by JS Westoff and Co., of Kansas. The cabinetry features Makore, an African mahogany. The electrical and domestic systems were designed and built in-house at Platinum Marine Services. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/127137/image/large-25859204bae58463ede5e73de8eb4ca8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/127137">Spirit of 2010 is designed exclusively for entertaining, targeting both the overnight weekly charter market and large groups up to 100 people for cocktail style parties. The superyacht is equipped with opulent features such as the 65 inch plasma TV in the media room and the 900 gallon custom hot tub situated on the bow. There are accommodations for up to six crew. With minimal furniture re-configuration, the entertaining areas can quickly adapt to accommodate overnight guests on weekly charters or large daily rental groups such as weddings or special events.
