Austrian boat builder Kormaran has been impressing the crowds at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show with an innovative display of their K7 watercraft model. The K7 is visible to visitors in a virtual 3D form through holographic technology named HoloLens.

Visitors experience the display through reality glasses that transforms the Kormaran stand into a virtual environment along with the 3D display. “Our new way of presenting the K7 is a world premiere and it is literally eye-catching. It is a special experience that allows you to explore this new class of boat in mixed reality environment” says Oliver Kormann, CEO and inventor of the Kormaran.

Kormann feels that this way of presenting a yacht could become a regular feature for more builders at boat shows due to its substantially lower impact on the environment in having visitors experience the product in a virtual environment, a feature that is even ahead of the well-developed automotive industry.

The K7 is a new class of boats developed by Kormaran and is limited to 50 units. Each craft will be custom built according to each client’s wishes.

Austrian company Kormaran has revealed more about their latest limited edition product, the Kormaran K7. Following their official partnership with the Monaco Yacht Show for the second consecutive year, the K7 will be revealed in full at the inaugural Monaco Yacht Show Gala on the evening before the event opens its doors to the public.

The K7 combines both comfort and safety, transforming from an elegant, stable multi-purpose day-boat to a sunbathing island wherever her owner desires. The brand has taken technological expertise and inspiration from the automotive and aviation industries, as well as several of the America’s Cup vessels, resulting in engine performance up to 900 hp dependent upon the individual configuration specified by the client. This provides the K7 with a top speed of up to 50 knots in its powerboat configuration, and almost 40 knots in the hydrofoil configuration.

“The K7 is a real eye-catcher, technologically unmatched, and promising a thrilling experience,” describes Dr. Oliver Kormann, Founder and Owner of Kormaran. "Prices range from €1,200,000 to €2,500,000 dependent upon configuration and levels of personalisation, and Kormaran has revealed to SYT that several new features are now available in the Kormaran range, including hulls, ROTAX 300 hp engines, a new exhaust system and a new transmission system."

“The K7 First Edition is a high-end luxury product, manufactured with the highest super sports car automotive quality standards, in a limited edition of only 50 personalised masterpieces. The production of sold vessels is already underway, with the first deliveries expected in Spring 2017. Kormaran welcomes all at their dedicated stand at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show next week at QR3 on the Quai Rainier 1er to hear more about their latest unique product.

The limited edition Kormaran K7 gearing up for Monaco

The Austrian custom water craft builder Kormaran GmbH has released footage of the Kormaran in action on the waters of a picturesque Austrian Lake. Austrian company Kormaran GmbH, builder of the advanced Kormaran water craft has reported that the first prototype is performing well during her initial sea trials on the lakes in Austria. Tests will continue into the Autumn where Kormaran will be fine tuned and be optimised for production, which is to start in June 2016.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/156248/image/large-196ea1010526fe9ddb4acd7c70b0a088.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156248">The company is currently working on the transformation process of the craft, with its intricate combination of hydraulic doors, wings and bathing platform. To ensure the smooth operation of the hydrofoils, Kormaran GmbH have enlisted the expertise of America’s Cup specialists, who form an essential part of the testing phase.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/156249/image/large-0726ae6135b398116bf439c8ac94e4ce.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156249">Kormaran is a futuristic personal water craft that allows its driver to choose between various driving modes, ranging from catamaran, trimaran, monohul or hydrofoil modes. In hydrofoil mode Kormaran is able to achieve a speed of 44mph, powered by a 493HP triple jet drive. At top speed, the craft has a range of 200 km.The first craft will be available in the summer of 2016. Kormaran GmbH advices clients that if they interested in receiving their Kormaran within 2016, that orders need to be placed well before October this year, with the first edition Zero Series limited to only 50 craft.By Charl van Rooy

Kormaran water craft in final test stages

Porto Montenegro has recently announced they will be hosting the highly anticipated Kormoran prototype in their marina throughout summer 2016. The project has been in development by the Salzburg based company since 2007.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152394/image/large-d6c288bed1959f8ab76c5b1abf1dd37d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152394">The 7 metre vessel is designed to transform across six different configurations, including Mono Hull, Katamaran, Trimaran, Night Mode, Flying Mode and Bathing Mode. The idea is to offer owners the opportunity to adapt the boat as they wish, dependent on their differing environments and situations.Both practical and stylish, Kormoran is built from a combination of carbon fibre, titanium, stainless steel, teak wood and Boxmark Xtreme Leather. Amongst her many key features are her hydrofoils, an advanced technology that reduces water resistance by up to 80% resulting in higher speeds with lower energy consumption.
