Palmer Johnson has announced that the first vessel in the brands’ new day boat series is currently under construction at Latitude Yachts in Riga. With outfitting to take place in Italy, she is scheduled for completion in June 2017, the PJ63 Sport has been specifically developed to elevate smaller open yachts to ‘another level of luxury.’

Berkeley March, head of design at Palmer Johnson, comments on the development of the new vessel, stating: “The main focus of the Sport series and in particular the PJ63 is living on the outside of the yacht, and using it as a true day boat with the capability of weekend use. The design of the exterior living was to incorporate a vast open cockpit, whilst still keeping strong flowing lines and a sense of timeless design. The 63 offers a 6.3 metre beam with unobstructed views for maximum enjoyment.”

The launch of the first day boat series for Palmer Johnson follows the announcement earlier this year regarding a substantial order for the build of 30 of their PJ48 and PJ63 Open Sport series yachts. Valued at over €40,000,000 and all destined for the US market, Palmer Johnson has confirmed to SYT that the order is still active.

Built as one of two identical sister ships by Latvian shipyard Latitude Yachts,&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5751" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Galaxy of Happiness53.32m (174'11&quot;)Latitude Yachts2016">Galaxy of Happiness</a>&nbsp;is based on a lightweight trimaran hull constructed from a blend of fibreglass and carbon fibre. Two powerful engines propel the yacht to speeds in excess of 28 knots. Coste Design is the company behind the design and engineering of the project.

Latvian shipyard Latitude Yachts have launched two identical trimaran superyachts earlier this month. The spaceship-like vessels each measure 53.32 metres and are reportedly destined for the Middle East upon completion of their harbor and sea trials.

The hulls of the two craft are constructed from a combination of fiberglass and carbon fibre which delivers an extremely lightweight and tough solution. Together with their lightweight construction, two powerful engine packages will ensure a top speed of over 28 knots.

Exterior decks are laid with naturally grown Burmese teak, fabricated and fitted by an Italian company DUCA Solutions using the innovative vacuum technology.

“These two yachts mean two years and five months of intense, complicated and very interesting work,” said Valdis Irbe, the co-owner of Latitude Yachts. “This was a great challenge for me and I was brave enough to agree to bring this project to life. They have no analogues in size – they are the biggest trimarans in the world.”

The shipyard reports that a further two yachts of similar dimensions are on the cards also for Middle Eastern clients.

Currently under construction in Riga at Latitude Yacht this sailing yacht catamaran of 101' designed by Coste Design &amp; Partners. The USA-based partner broker Victoria Investments, Inc. has just partnered with Latitude Yachts, a new super-yacht yard based in Riga, Latvia. Signed during the Boat Asia Singapore 2011, the representation and engagement agreement for business brokerage services will run six-months term starting from May 12th. Latitude Yachts is a new shipyard based in Riga, Latvia and they have just commenced their first superyacht project, the Latitude 88 Double Deck.
