The multi-million-dollar restoration was carried out at the company’s refit and maintenance facility, The Watersheds, in the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. She was converted 2007 by her previous owners as a luxury private superyacht called Plan B. Following her refit, she will return to service as a charter yacht.“In my 32 years in the industry, this is the largest, most challenging refit in the shortest time frame,” said Captain Juan Koegelenberg, Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Liquid Yacht Support (Company)">Liquid Yacht Support</a>, who also acted as Project Manager and Owner’s Representative. In preparation for the refit, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Liquid Yacht Support (Company)">Liquid Yacht Support</a> sourced all necessary materials in advance to ensure a consistent supply for the various trades to keep the project on schedule.“Without the in-water sheds at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5437" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Boat Works (Company)">The Boat Works</a>, staying on track with our timeline would have been impossible,” commented Juan. “The watersheds provided protection from the heat and rain, especially over summer, and convenience for trades and deliveries. When Cyclone Alfred was bearing down on the Gold Coast, we were undercover, with the vessel protected and once given the all clear, work resumed without missing a beat.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363514/image/large-d3949133af708b0098403e5445aac45c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363514">The vessel was securely sheltered within her own dedicated 100-metre chute and benefitted from full scaffold coverage and easy access. Crane operations ran smoothly, while the extra-wide pontoons provided ample space for painters and their equipment during the transformation of her dark grey exterior to a fresh white superstructure and light grey hull.With a 10-metre beam and a volume of 746 GT, she showcases expansive decks, a large garage for water toys and tenders and a helipad, establishing her as a “go-anywhere” superyacht.“It’s well-built and well-maintained,” Juan explained. “The steel hull is 10-millimetres throughout and there was no corrosion.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363513/image/large-bfc0e7cc1887e2bd8b23c8b93a812ec4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363513">The project began with the vessel being stripped back to bare metal, followed by a full overhaul. This included a fresh exterior respray and a complete redesign, led by a naval architect, to ensure full compliance with both Class and Flag regulations.Next came the fabrication of the interior spaces. All six guest staterooms, along with lounges, corridors and bathrooms, underwent complete refurbishment, which required new furnishings, flooring, glazing and lighting. This step was crucial to rebuild the yacht into a five-star charter-ready motor yacht capable of global cruising, according to Juan.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363515/image/large-f32abdb2b4af2da649fab49dfe873d48.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363515">Moreover, on-site glazing specialists <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2867" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Integrated Marine Group (Company)">Integ Marine</a> Windows created an enclosed ‘glass house’ with sliding doors on the bridge deck. They also replaced the original windows with larger panes to enhance natural light and provide sweeping panoramic views to guests onboard. The installation of a two-metre swim platform is the final touch of the refit.Given the scale of the work, the refit provided employment for marine contractors and small businesses across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. “The on-site trades were exceptional,” Juan added. “It was a huge job, so we assigned each level to a different company and they all excelled.
