Artelier uses specialist sea fastenings to help secure them as well as niches and plinths. “Location is also a key consideration, as artworks need to be positioned strategically to minimise knocking and damage. Choosing where an artwork is placed is also fundamental due to UV exposure; yachts have an abundance of strong natural light, and UV is one of the most damaging effects on artworks.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/248009/image/large-08b7f89f0bf1d893529c3211f636b5be.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/248009">Yachts are ultimately spaces of leisure and contemplation, so to view them as floating art galleries is not that far of a stretch. However, Artelier does not recommend highly collectible artworks be stored onboard; “the risk of damage is far greater, and there are added complications for insurance as well as taxation, when these pieces are taken beyond national borders.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/234878/image/large-2c927dddbb685463717c937122aa87e1.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/234878">In 2020, the Spanish billionaire Jaime Botin, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and received a €52.4 million fine for ‘smuggling cultural goods’ by removing Pablo Picasso’s painting, 'Head of a Young Woman’, from national territory without a permit. According to Artnet, “Any work of art older than 100 years is considered a national treasure and requires an export permit.” Botin applied for an export permit, but was rejected. The court reports then state that he attempted to dodge this law, and smuggled the painting out of Spain onboard the 67-metre three-masted schooner, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1613" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Adix64.85m (212'9&quot;)Astilleros de Mallorca S.A.1984">Adix</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/248019/image/large-a0b172feb95fc1a9e34b62eb01b50b23.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/248019">Yachts in the Art and Design WorldThere has been a large increase in the number of shipyards who have chosen to participate in art related events in recent years. As Vasco Buonpensiere pointed out: "When they told me about the Association project, especially from the training point of view, I was immediately convinced of the importance of being part of it. We want to &nbsp;develop synergies and promote ourselves in the right way to make people &nbsp;understand that Marche is the right side of Italy to build Yachts. Like with cars, when you think of Italian cars Turin immediately springs to mind, but the &nbsp;best ones are actually built in Emilia Romagna. That is what we would like to &nbsp;see happen when it comes to yachts. That Marche would be immediately &nbsp;associated with the concepts of excellence and great opportunities offered by the Region”.

Pomponi noted that “Ceilings have innovative shapes and lighting has a central role in the whole project.
