Hong-Kong-based design house <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6867" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="M51 Concepts (Company)">M51 Concepts</a> has unveiled the renderings for a new superyacht concept Amplitude. The unique 95-metre aluminium and composite superyacht boasts new developing technologies, such as two inflatable wing sails. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275465/image/large-1f4e44e88bbeccbc2bd7f54fb8a7cd28.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275465">Amplitude draws inspiration from another one of designer Anthony Glasson’s concepts, Pendulum. “Pendulum, which is a run of the mill motor boat design, inspired by a simple doodle of the bow design, which dictated the rest of the exterior design,” described Anthony. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275464/image/large-6d0ad455274aeb892c6a66b221d11414.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275464">“However, the philosophy of Amplitude is not run of the mill. She is a futuristic attempt at a large motor yacht style vessel, with as low as possible environmental impact, without going full sail boat.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275469/image/large-15d5f9948832fbe44fded4023076fe12.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275469">Amplitude is equipped with two inflatable wing sails, a developing technology, which plans to offer a lot of advantages for operation. The sails will reduce the need for complex deck equipment such as winches and halyards and can be easily inflated or deflated. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275456/image/large-eb3123138c876377137632ef22d26529.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275456">The sails will be computer-controlled to allow for automatic sailing and will be able to withstand various wind conditions. “Currently the wing sails would be used in conjunction with the propulsion drive to reduce fuel consumption,” explained Anthony Glasson. “But as the technology improves one day, they could be used alone on a vessel of this size.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275457/image/large-1e67fd67c303753303723363449236da.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275457">Much like her exterior, the interior of Amplitude showcases a modern design. “I wanted it to be almost futuristic Sci-Fi but with more traditional yacht materials, such as wood and marble, which are used throughout as highlights,” added Anthony.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275455/image/large-886416d2ef4d876685b92278732e63d1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275455">The bridge deck of Amplitude is home to a large living and entertainment space, with vaulted ceilings and skylights to increase her flow of natural light.
