A cluster of Catalonian marinas are remapping and honing their specialities in a bid to provide unparalleled service. There will also be a lot less risk from manoeuvring the fuel in tankers around the site.The overarching philosophy at the marina has always been sustainability and this expansion will further emphasise this commitment. Next three editions of The Superyacht Show to be held in Barcelona's OneOcean Port Vell 

The Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA) has today announced plans to host a brand new superyacht show just ahead of the Mediterranean summer season this year. OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona will play host to the event which will be held from 2nd to 5th May, just a week after the MYBA Charter Show on 23rd to 26th April.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/20618/image/large-a85709100d935a4304028bb0b249f069.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/20618"> The concept of the show steers away from a typical business-to-business event model, and aims to focus on the visitor, creating an environment that existing and potential clients will appreciate, so says Jonathan Beckett, President of LYBRA. Port Vell transforms into OneOcean Port Vell

After taking delivery of this yacht, her original owner ordered a new and larger yacht, also called Le Pharaon, which was delivered to him in 1989. In 2010 Illusion was completely refitted and all of her three aft decks were restyled in order to accommodate a 5 metre stern extension. Superyacht Hermitage in Barcelona

Alex Chumillas of Tax Marine Spain tells us that the Port of Barcelona and Barcelona City Council have backed the creation of the Barcelona Nautical Cluster to improve the city's position as an international benchmark in the nautical sector. This organisation promotes cooperation, complementarity and competition between its members. The cluster seeks to achieve excellence in business, increasing the value of the services currently offered by fostering joint projects and creating economies of scale.The three main objectives of Barcelona Nautical Cluster are to generate high value knowledge, create new jobs and adapt specialised training programs to the needs of the nautical sector. Setting up this cluster should therefore help to identify and define the training needs of the Port and the nautical sector in the medium and long term and to implement professional training and employment actionsIn addition to public institutions, Barcelona Nautical Cluster also involves Marina Barcelona 92, which is the main shipyard for yacht repairs and maintenance in the Mediterranean; Marina Port Vell, which is undertaking a complete overhaul of its facilities to bring them into line with current market needs; and the Barcelona Foundation for Ocean Sailing. Initially the cluster is composed by 35 yachting firms.

Formation of the Barcelona Nautical Cluster

The Spanish marine trade association (ANEN) has announced that the Spanish Government will do away with the much debated matriculation tax on charter yachts, which meant that charter yachts had to pay 33% tax. For charter yachts over 15 metres in length, this will now be brought back to 21% VAT, which will finally open up Spain as a competitive charter destination."The involvement and support we have had from the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy in recent years has been instrumental in achieving this accomplishment. With the current intermediation DGMM team, led by Rafael Rodríguez Valero, the Ministry of Finance will give the green light to the elimination of the matriculation tax." said Carlos Sanlorenzo, Secretary General of ANEN.Norma Trease, Director-Salamanca Marine, commented on behalf of Marina Port Vell; “Needless to say, all of us at Marina Port Vell are thrilled to hear the news about the Matriculation Tax being repealed, and hope it will be implemented soon.
