The sale of Silent Yachts’ flagship model demonstrates the “confirmation of this trend for a much greener future” in the yachting industry, according to the founder and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5188" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Silent Yachts (Company)">Silent-Yachts</a>, Michael Köhler.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186770/image/large-a35d6908953769a201fc0b1fab4750f2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186770">The Silent 80 Tri-deck expands on the previous flagship model the Silent 80. The new flagship is designed and engineered by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4335" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Marco Casali Too Design (Company)">Marco Casali</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5288" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MICAD (Company)">MICAD</a> and is the company’s most spacious solar catamaran thus far, though the yard has indicated design plans are in progress for a new, bigger Silent model.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186773/image/large-bd039c1633aeb78143e1383c60cb74bb.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186773"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186774/image/large-f9faed99eace9c199a5e33a27dc9d861.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186774">One of the flagship’s most notable features is the option for either a closed sky lounge or an open 90 square-metre fly deck on the yacht’s top deck. Of the three sold units, both open and closed options have been commissioned. Inside, her main deck features a large saloon equipped with a 10.95-metre beam. She sports two fully electric engines that allow the catamaran to reach speeds of up to 20 knots. Silent Yachts has sold three units of its electric catamaran yacht Silent 80 Tri-Deck, an upgrade from the company’s previous flagship design.

Austrian shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5188" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Silent Yachts (Company)">Silent Yachts</a> has announced the sale of two more units of its 24.3-metre flagship yacht, the Silent 80 solar-electric catamaran. Marking a total of six units sold to date, the innovative Silent 80 concept was initially visualised by Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5188" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Silent Yachts (Company)">Silent Yachts</a>. These recently sold units feature interior and exterior designs from the drawing boards of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4335" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Marco Casali Too Design (Company)">Marco Casali Too Design</a>, and naval architecture completed by the Italian studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5288" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MICAD (Company)">MICAD</a>. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/104679/image/large-5abfb2db7aa7069a9fc7ed774a6c21d7.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/104679">The Silent 80 catamaran model showcases clean lines and large windows that line the exterior. As well as flooding the interior with daylight, the windows allow for sweeping views of the surrounding elements throughout the yacht. Outdoors, guests can relax by the aft lounge and bar area or under the sun on sea-facing sofas and sun pads located at the front of the vessel. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/104681/image/large-74c5099d899fcaeda770f360245bf4d4.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/104681">Equipped with 70 highly-efficient solar panels carried atop the flybridge, the vessel displays a sporty attitude thanks to horizontal air grills inspired by sports cars. In terms of functionality, the solar panels can generate up to 25 kW of energy, which can subsequently charge the yacht’s regulators, lithium batteries, and household appliances thanks to a 20-kVA inverter. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/69666/image/large-e73c74f3849b82499fbec673507d378a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/69666">As well as using solar energy, the Silent 80 yacht is a solar-electric catamaran that uses silent electric propulsion to allow for an unlimited cruising range without noise or fumes and minimal vibration, making the vessel virtually maintenance-free and self-sufficient. All guest staterooms offer double or twin beds and all heads include a separate shower. Michael Köhler commented: “We moved the first Silent 80 hull from the first production facility to the final production facility 50 km away at the end of March. Two Silent 80 catamaran yachts sold

Silent Yachts has recently sold two further units of its flagship yacht, the Silent 80 catamaran, marking a total of six units sold.

The creator of the first solar-electric catamarans, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5188" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Silent Yachts (Company)">Silent Yachts</a>, has sold four Silent 80 yachts. Previously named Silent 79, the first Silent 80 yacht was sold to her South African owner, Neil Murray, and is now under construction in Ancona, Italy with delivery planned for early 2020. Three more units have also been sold and will be delivered later in 2020.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65680/image/large-dc16dbb2c6ccb5fd9dd80f0df3c4cef3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65680">“To me, this yacht is a great synthesis of form and function,” said Neil Murray. “My intent is to promote the concept of solar yachting and I want people to see elegance in the concept, not just practicality.”Through the use of silent electric propulsion, the Silent 80 has unlimited range without noise or fumes and minimal vibration. 70 solar panels, electric motors and lithium batteries used by Tesla have been put together thanks to the interior and exterior designs of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4335" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Marco Casali Too Design (Company)">Marco Casali of Too Design</a> and Amedeo Migali of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5288" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MICAD (Company)">MICAD</a> for the naval architecture.&nbsp;“Solar power is about square meters, so we need to dedicate as much surface to the solar panels as possible while keeping the overall balance in shape. What I tried to achieve is an interesting Italian design, sophisticated and refined. This is a nice-looking yacht that meets efficiency,” said designer Marco Casali.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65679/image/large-1e5a17fcea81cd7bf5939981b952926c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65679">With straight lines and huge windows and the addition of the solar panels and flybridge, the Silent 80 features a sporty exterior. Up to eight guests can enjoy large outdoor spaces such as the forward sofa and sunpads, whereas indoors the layout benefits from the lack of engine room and is fully customisable. The layout can be adapted to fit a 60-square-metre saloon, galley, lounge, dining area and up to six guest cabins. “The first unit, which is under construction now, has a balanced four cabin layout with two real owner cabins”,&nbsp;explains Marco Casali.&nbsp;“The aft master suite has a huge room, a study, a walk around closet and even a sauna.”&nbsp;“There is enough space for a 4.5-metre long tender, an amphibious car and a gyrocopter on floats, which is quite impressive for a yacht under 24m long”, comments Michael Köhler.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65678/image/large-aad16702282cb3d67ba6460abc55a8ba.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65678">The new yacht is built using vacuum-bagged resin and can reach a top speed of up to 18 knots. At 7 knots, the Silent 80 can travel in complete silence and at a range of 100 nm per day.&nbsp;
