Additionally, it aims to enhance visibility and awareness of job opportunities within the industry.Dr. Aaron Farrugia expressed his enthusiasm for this historic milestone and commended the founding associations for their dedication to creating a more environmentally responsible and sustainable industry. He also emphasised Malta's commitment to the success of the alliance and assured them of Malta's steadfast policy to further enhance the industry's quality standards.This alliance is more evidence that Malta is increasingly becoming considered as one of the main jurisdictions in the superyacht industry.

The well-respected yacht broker Marc Händle knows his way around a boat or two. His journey with boats began as a young child and now with two decades of industry experience behind him, his expertise has been used by the likes of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2717" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MYBA - The Worldwide Yachting Association (Company)">MYBA</a> and the Palma Superyacht Show. Do you have a new perspective now that you’ve joined&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a>?The market is unpredictable as always. Brokerage has slowed down while the new build sector is showing growth, both in size and unit numbers. Over the past few years, this has been a very interesting trend. Of course, the market is always moving and there are many situations that can affect the price and turnovers in one way or another. However, good business always depends on the right timing and strategies and with a company like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a> I am sure to master both in the best manner - that is why I am excited to take the next natural next step in my career and be part of one of the most important luxury service providers for yachting. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/99406/image/large-76d58376cc245182a409fbf1c8eef319.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/99406">What would be your advice for a new owner coming into the industry now?First of all, take enough time before proceeding to the purchase. It is not an easy decision with all the options on the market nowadays. That is why it is also very important to get a good broker that you trust and develop a relationship with. A motivated broker will open the world of yachting for their client, arrange viewings, sea trials and put them in contact with the right people in the yachting industry.Each yacht is different, and you must pay attention to what type of yacht you want and its various features. For example, an explorer doesn’t need to have a super-shiny paint job, it must be a safe yacht with reliable engines, a long range and a strong hull. As a broker, you should spend a lot of time with your clients, get to know them and find out what they really want. Sometimes the first impression of what they like is not necessarily what they really want. &nbsp; <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a>&nbsp;have<a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/camper-nicholsons-and-nowboat-technology-merger" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">&nbsp;launched a new intelligence system.</a>&nbsp;Are you using it and how do you think it could sway the brokerage market?I am new to all of this as I have just started with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a>, however, I had some intensive training to use the company intelligence system and its many tailor-made features. Every day the market is becoming more challenging and but this new approach will keep the company on top of it. As I already mentioned, time is crucial and with this new intelligence system, I can tap into the database quickly and remotely. Technology here is a tool that can empower brokers.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/101881/image/large-52edbd4a948775cedf796f9bb404d63b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/101881">&nbsp;You were involved in establishing the&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/43" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma SuperYacht Show - 2019">Palma Superyacht Show</a>. Can you tell me a little bit more about that?We could say it was a coincidence - or maybe it was simply meant to be! After the Port Adriano was extended the port was still relatively empty. A boat show needs space and that is what my idea was based on, and so I got in touch with the port and made the suggestion for a boat show or an open day. The aim was clear: promote the yachts from our clients and the marina and in turn, bring more business opportunities. Arne Ploch, another Senior Sales Broker from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a> Spain, supported everything and so the following year we organised the boat show from scratch with around 43 yachts up to 63 metres. It was a great success for everybody, and that’s how the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/43" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma SuperYacht Show - 2019">Palma Superyacht Show</a> was born!<img src="/uploads/store/photo/104200/image/large-1b2569e8d622eeb7401beae5dc72ec0c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/104200">Do you think yacht shows are important for driving business?Yes, absolutely. For example, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/34" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2019">MYS</a> is one of the most important events in the industry where brokers and the clients can see the new trends on the market and get in touch with both business partners and clients. It is where shipyards and brokers can show off the products and any potential client should attend. Every yacht show is very important as it is the best opportunity to get clients on board various yachts in one place and get an idea of what they are looking for.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/99272/image/large-e66498e5564e8c01373d68f029fe5d03.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/99272">Finally, what would you say has been your career highlight so far?I have had so far many highlights over the course of my career, but what I appreciate the most is when I build a relationship with my clients and they no longer see me as a broker but as a friend. The Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA) has today announced plans to host a brand new superyacht show just ahead of the Mediterranean summer season this year. OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona will play host to the event which will be held from 2nd to 5th May, just a week after the MYBA Charter Show on 23rd to 26th April.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/20618/image/large-a85709100d935a4304028bb0b249f069.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/20618"> The concept of the show steers away from a typical business-to-business event model, and aims to focus on the visitor, creating an environment that existing and potential clients will appreciate, so says Jonathan Beckett, President of LYBRA. He continues: “Our long-term plans are ambitious but also realistic. The idea of a client-focused show was put forward several years ago and we’ve been working on the details for quite some time. We have a great team in place and while our expectations for the first year are modest, I’m confident we’re laying a very solid foundation for the future. 2018 will see the participation of all our member companies and in 2019 we aim to incorporate a number of top quality shipyards and other exhibitors. LYBRA to host new superyacht show in OneOcean Port Vell

The International Maritime Orginisation (IMO), an agency of the United Nations, have announced that the implementation of the new NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) Tier III regulations, which refer to the level of diesel engine emissions in superyachts, will now only come into affect on 1st January 2021 for yachts over 24 metres and under 500GT.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157367/image/large-c08cde9c38a800000f1d61140faed97a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157367">The postponement of the regulations comes after the commissioning of three separate studies by ICOMIA focusing on the design, technical and socio-economic issues associated with the implementation of the regulations. The findings showed that with the current technology available, the regulatory units that would treat exhaust gasses to be installed in engine rooms are simply not compact enough yet, and would lead to a considerable size decrease in guest or other valuable spaces on board yachts in this size range. Porto Montenegro to host first MYBA Pop-Up Superyacht Show

Porto Montenegro and MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association have announced the inaugural MYBA Pop-Up Superyacht Show. The event will take place in Montenegro from 3rd to 5th September, and will be open to all MYBA-registered yachts over 20 metres with no upper size limit, charter agents and brokers.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153828/image/large-38f8098d08b157614a575715ba7b3c3f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153828">The decision to launch the three day event comes as Montenegro grows into one of the most up and coming superyacht hotspots in the Mediterranean due its yacht-friendly legislation, outside EU tax benefits such as 0% VAT on charters, tax-and duty-free fuel, and rapidly growing infrastructure.“We are delighted to be working alongside MYBA and to be the host destination of this new event concept. Porto Montenegro and MYBA launch Pop-Up Superyacht Show in Montenegro

With the 2015 edition of the Palma Superyacht Show (PSS) fast approaching, organisers have announced an impressive list of participating yachts and exhibitors, with the number of berths and stands available seeing a substantial increase since the inaugural event in 2013.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153206/image/large-8f1992fa7085443495ee29050756c5fd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151752">Conducted in partnership with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association, PSS is a show that is run for the industry, by the industry, providing a platform for brokerage and charter yachts above 24 metres. Palma Superyacht Show prepares for 2015 edition

The Palma Superyacht Show 30th April to 4th May 2014 promises a fantastic show in prospect. In only the second year since it began, the 2014 Palma Superyacht Show is unquestionably fulfilling its potential as the Mediterranean’s most attractive ‘season opener’.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/147617/image/large-16c0774248ec5a41c80b3bc0a42d3d3b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146818">From an international visitor’s perspective, Majorca’s hospitable climate, combined with mainland Europe’s 1st May public holiday, have made the prospect of visiting the Show an attractive proposition. From an organisational point of view, take-up has exceeded all expectations, with berths for over half the expected number of 60+ yachts over 24m length taken, and 75% of shore-side exhibitor stand space already allocated. Palma Superyacht Show exceeded all expectations

MYBA is partnering with Yacht Carbon Offset to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions from the 24th MYBA Charter Show, which takes place in Genoa between 30 April and 4 May.
