In discussing the decision to go public, the executive chairman Massimo Perotti highlighted three key reasons. The foremost was family-oriented; he aimed to ensure that his children would not feel compelled to follow in his footsteps. “By transitioning <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/374" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanlorenzo (Company)">Sanlorenzo</a> to a public company,” Perotti explained, “my children have the flexibility to either remain major shareholders or to step into management roles without obligation.”The second reason Perotti cited for taking <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/374" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanlorenzo (Company)">Sanlorenzo</a> public involves enhancing management quality. "Normally, a company owner might resist strict rules. However, although these regulations might limit my autonomy, even dictating my salary, there's a significant upside. Our management team must adhere to rigorous standards, including quarterly financial reporting. One pivotal decision was to establish a foothold in Australia, leading to the opening of an office in Sydney. Simultaneously, we aimed to solidify our presence in markets where we were notably absent, such as Vietnam, with the opening of a showroom in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with our partners <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6836" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="O2xH2O (Company)">O2H2O</a>,” he noted. Perotti emphasised the strategic importance of these expansions. Maintaining a presence in these emerging markets is crucial for long-term growth and visibility."While the future increasingly leans towards Asia, driven by rising wealth in the region, the standout market in 2024 so far has been the Middle East," stated Perotti. In discussing the decision to increase the size segment of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/313" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nautor Swan (Company)">Swan</a> yachts, Perotti cited market dynamics as the driving factor. “The market is expanding because the UHNWI, who are mature individuals from well-established markets, increasingly prefer larger sailing yachts. Their preference is influenced by concerns about pollution and sustainability, which aligns with their values,” he explained.The second reason for acquiring <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/313" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nautor Swan (Company)">Nautor Swan</a> and expanding its size range, as Perotti explained, is the limited supply in the market. “There are only two main yards that specialise in large sailing yachts, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/34" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vitters Shipyard (Company)">Vitters</a>, both Dutch companies.
