Ocean Safety launches New Kru Lifejacket website with new ISO Range 

The latest addition to the performance Ocean UltraLite range of ISO 9650 liferafts is the even lighter valise version. The capacity of the raft ranges from 6 to 12 persons, allowing one liferaft for a complete crew, or alternatively two smaller valise packed rafts stowed either side. With a weight saving of more than a kilo over the equivalent carbon canister version, the valise packed Ocean UltraLite will undoubtedly prove popular with race crews and customers where weight is critical. Using state of the art sailmaking technology, the valise laminate fabric is strong, durable and flexible. It is manufactured in Kevlar and Technora (an aramid which is used in a variety of applications which require a high degree of strength) sandwiched in a Mylar film, with outer facings of polyester film providing UV resistance and a barrier against any water ingress. The liferaft itself features a light weight carbon fibre gas cylinder, which is wrapped in an aluminium liner with a thin layer of outer grp for added protection. The raft meets current ISAF Offshore Special Regulations, and by adding a grab bag can meet the requirements for MCA Code of Practice or Class XII Regulations. Ocean Safety expands into the Southern Hemisphere

The RYA has issued the first RYA tickmark logo for safety equipment to a range of liferafts manufactured by Ocean Safety. In issuing the RYA tick mark logo the RYA is satisfied, following a rigorous testing programme as set out by the ISO standard that the liferafts were found to be compliant with ISO 9650. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126091/image/large-dd5f312048e0a01dc9d13c04654354f5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126091">The liferafts are from Ocean Safety’s new Ocean ISO 9650 Type 1, Group A liferafts which include 4 man, 6 man, 8 man, 10 man and 12 man liferafts in a combination of valise (soft casing) and canister (hard casing). Ocean Safety will now be able to display the RYA tickmark on those liferafts tested and found to be compliant. Ensuring that they comply with international standards is paramount. The RYA tickmark programme has been running for a number of years for boats and has now been extended to safety equipment. It sets out to provide boaters with a visible assurance that any product displaying the tickmark logo does comply with the requisite international standard.” The tests were conducted by Mike Beggs, RYA Senior Evaluator, and included low and high temperature inflation tests, righting, boarding tests, and all other material tests as required by the standard.
