The hard work paid off and the satisfaction came when <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5636" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="White Rabbit84.04m (275'9&quot;)Echo Yachts2018">White Rabbit </a>was lowered into the water for the first time on 1 September 2018 and sat 100% perfect on the waterline. “Exactly how it was designed to be. We even achieved her top predicted speed bang on at 18.7 knots. It was the most perfect boat I have ever been involved with.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/117844/image/large-276626e8444dd4e67e67c23eaaf2407a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/117844">"Establish the company’s point of difference"It wasn’t always Stothard’s intention to take the upper hand in building such efficient superyachts. As soon as he realised our hulls are already 40% more power-efficient than most, Stothard formulated the plan to further improve the already industry-leading trimaran platform by leveraging off its 40% gains in power and fuel efficiency and looking at other technology to augment it with for further improve the house load fuel burn.“In the coming year or two, we will have a solution that will mean our propulsion systems will have us well ahead of the game. We will have done away with gen-sets and leverage on the hydrodynamic efficiency or ‘slipperiness’ of our hulls,” says Stothard.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/79591/image/large-7d5b4a8d148764c2589ac5eec140d1cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/79591">With only a small percentage of the world’s fleet being multihulls, here lies another point of difference for the yard. “I think there's a resistance for people to consider a trimaran hull form. This might be because people may be mistaking catamaran characteristics with those of a trimaran,” he adds.&nbsp;And if that isn’t enough, “the cost of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5636" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="White Rabbit84.04m (275'9&quot;)Echo Yachts2018">White Rabbit </a>would have been 30% more if she were built in Europe. If, that is, the client could have actually found any other superyacht builder to take on the risk of building this new hull type at the required scale.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/173367/image/large-1fb4ea4ac19156f39802075efca9fbfa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/173367">"Look to the future"Stothard is making waves with his confidence and solutions for the future superyacht fleet. Having designed a new range of active-foiling Trimaran Sports Yachts with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="One2Three (Company)">One2Three</a> Naval Architects, Stothard is convinced that “these platforms are going to lead the way in the future. We have already set new records for a vessel of that size doing the same top speed and range as a heavy displacement steel hull - with nearly half the amount of installed kilowatts onboard.&nbsp;“Life is a journey and along the way you get taken down different forks in the road – it seems that one of those will see us fine-tune this model for super eco-friendly and efficient yachting,” he adds. When that time comes, a workforce of 100, “or 300 at our peak”, are at the ready in support of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4342" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Echo Yachts (Company)">Echo Yachts</a> ethos. “We have fun down here - it’s a great team. I often have staff pulling me aside saying ‘mate, don't stop doing this! A contract for a new 56-metre catamaran Yacht Support Vessel has been signed for at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4342" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Echo Yachts (Company)">Echo Yachts</a> in Western Australia. On board, she can welcome up to 16 overnight guests in eight cabins and features a swimming pool next to a helipad. Echo Yachts in Australia is nearing the completion of its new 84-metre trimaran motor yacht project, White Rabbit&nbsp;this month as final outfitting touches are currently being carried out in Henderson, Western Australia. Successful initial trials at sea confirmed the project’s anticipated hybrid cruising capabilities with a comfortable ride matched by impressive performance figures.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/53798/image/large-e85a46224a4ad1db6220c7a91c4451c1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/53798">Under intensive tests and with 5,000 kW of power engaged, White Rabbit managed to reach a top speed of 18.7 knots in fair conditions while simultaneously running house loads on board. Echo Yachts has unveiled its long-awaited 84-metre superyacht White Rabbit this week in Henderson, Western Australia where the shipyard is located. The vessel was presented for the first time inside White Rabbit’s build shed during a special preview event attended by VIP members, including the yacht’s owner and family, where four years of hard work and dedication was celebrated.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/45538/image/large-88b465c9d5fcb5a7bb7bd552df4924f1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/45538">Upon completion, White Rabbit will become the largest superyacht built in Australia and take the title as the largest tri-hulled private motor yacht in the world. Measuring 84 metres in length and stretching 19.6 metres across, White Rabbit’s internal volume is just shy of the 3,000 GT mark.&nbsp;Design studio Sorgiovanni Design from Australia drew the project's iconic exterior lines while ALIA Interiors worked on the yacht’s interior design. The Australian trio of Echo Yachts, designer Sam Sorgiovanni, and One2Three Naval Architects have released a radical new design based on the shipyard's expertise in building large trimaran superyachts. Developed and engineered to be built as a modern-day superyacht, the new 120-metre design offers clients an incredible amount of interior spaces along with the inherent ocean going capabilities presented by such a stable multihull platform.

Some of the onboard highlights include a touch and go landing pad on the foredeck with an additional sundeck helipad, outdoor dining areas for up to 26 guests, and separate owner’s outdoor entertainment area with private pool. A large tender garage forward houses the yacht’s fleet of tenders.

At-speed and at-anchor gyro stabilisers will ensure a smooth ride no matter the conditions outside. A hybrid propulsion system will deliver a top speed of 20 knots and enable the yacht to reach a range of 5,000 nm.
