Here, we summarise this exciting new series in full. &nbsp;With American clients in mind, US-based naval architecture firm <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/627" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Overing Yacht Designs, LLC (Company)">Overing Yacht Designs</a> were the minds behind the design of the new superyachts. The builders collaborated with Seattle-based <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sylvia Bolton Design, Inc. (Company)">Sylvia Bolton Design</a> to develop interiors to a “fresh and comfortable” design brief. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/180809/image/large-6838eba90652507f4a2db53f4703457d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/180809">Described as “rugged expedition vessels”, the new yachts are built with full-displacement, steel hulls with round bilges, bulbous bows, commercial-level equipment, and long-range fuel capacities. Uniquely, the yachts feature a tank deck that crew can use to transit the vessel from bow to stern.The yacht aims to champion practical work areas, for an efficient vessel, as well as sizable guest spaces. The yachts’ accommodations feature flybridge lounges and an aft beach club that designers assure will sustain that much-coveted connection between the owner and the sea.Models in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee Yachts</a>’ Explorer line include:&nbsp;107 Explorer&nbsp;Currently in build with an estimated delivery date of late summer 2022, this 32.76-metre yacht accommodates 10 guests and six to eight crew. She is a five-stateroom yacht, featuring a master suite on her bridge deck as well as a VIP suite on her main deck. Also accommodating 10 guests and six to eight crew, this slight alteration on the 130 Explorer features a bridge-deck master stateroom, VIP and captain’s cabins on her main deck, and three guest suites on her lower deck.130 Explorer&nbsp;This 39.73-metre yacht is also currently in build with an estimated delivery date of late summer 2022. With an operating draft of 7 inches to 7.5 inches and a fuel capacity of over 10,000 gallons, she is set to be a versatile vessel. Tenders and toys are easy to stow out of the way on the yacht’s foredeck. Like fellow explorers in this line, she can hold 10 guests and six to eight crew. Her five-stateroom layout includes a full-beam master suite located amidships.Cheoy Lee’s Tradition line includes:118 TraditionWith a cruising speed of 21 knots, this yacht features an enclosed sky lounge, which her builders say is rare on a yacht of her class. Her main deck encompasses a country kitchen and a master suite. She also has two VIP suites and two twin suites, making space for a total of 10 guests on board. Designed by Overing Yacht Designs, the latest line of Cheoy Lee Explorer yachts and Tradition yachts are coming to fruition.

Located on the main deck, the master suite includes a king-size bed, a vanity desk and en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The split-level VIP stateroom is completed by a Jacuzzi and shower. Here, guests can also make use of the large dinette and seating areas, Jacuzzi, three drop-down 40-inch TVs and grill.

It has been 12 months since we first introduced the complete rebuild project that is currently ongoing at the Derecktor shipyard in South Florida and how Anodyne is being transformed from a scrap-worthy vessel to one of the most meticulously built yachts in her class. The work on the 110-foot motor yacht has progressed in leaps and bounds since then, and her experienced build team have kept the project on track and ready for launch in the summer of 2018. We caught up with her captain, Parker Stockdale, to find out what the latest in the Anodyne story is.

While the hull of the project has been under cover at the Derecktor shipyard since 2015 – where it has been extended to its current 110 feet and completely transformed from its previous state – the superstructure is being built offsite by Southern Yacht Industries. Stockdale reports that the main deck structure is nearly complete with about 60% of the upper deck structure ready. While this work continues, blasting, painting and insulating of the lower deck compartments are underway to get these areas ready for interior installation at a later stage.

The next few months will see the completion of the pipework construction (in stainless steel and copper nickel) along with the installation of the full complement of onboard cabling. Local paint specialists Virgin Yacht will be in charge of the paint applications which is expected to start in the next two months. Anodyne will also be fitted with two custom tenders with construction on these to begin imminently.

The interior design by Lisa Pirofsky is completed and carpentry work will begin this summer. The exterior design of the project is the work of Overing Yacht Design, who is also behing the naval architecture, structural design, and engineering of the project. Anodyne is built on Overing's 'fast displacement' hull form.

On the technical front, every step of the design and construction process is being studied and documented by Captain Stockdale in association with Lloyds Register. Anodyne’s hull and machinery is expected to be awarded a Maltese Cross certification by the classification society. Heinen &amp; Hopman has taken over the management and installation of the HVAC and ventilation systems while Ultra Fog will make sure that Anodyne is equipped with some of the best hi-fog systems.

To streamline the process and make sure everything is running according to plan, the build team has erected a state-of-the-art office onsite at Derecktor and can be seen as proof of the good working relationship between the project and shipyard teams. “Our collaboration with Derecktor remains strong and healthy,” comments Captain Stockdale. “They have been excellent to work with.”

Build update: motor yacht Anodyne takes shape

The 37.19 metre superyacht Talos (ex: Flagship Lady; Bon Bon; Shogun) has been sold. Built by the U.S. shipyard Flagship in 1993, she is constructed entirely out of aluminum and features both naval architecture and exterior design by Overing Yacht Designs.

On board she accommodates up to eight guests over four generous en suite cabins, including a large master suite on the main deck, a full beam VIP suite and two double cabins. In regards to her performance, she is powered by twin CAT engines, providing her with a maximum speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots, and a range of 3,200 nm. She underwent an extensive refit in 2014.

Built by the New Zealand shipyard Sensation Yachts in 2006 and refitted in 2015, the 52.88 metre superyacht Noble House has been sold. On board she accommodates up to 12 guests over six luxurious en-suite cabins, consisting of a large master suite, four double cabins and one twin cabin. Powered by twin CAT 3516B engines, she has a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.Noble House was listed for sale by Scott Jones of IYC, with Donny Mathew of Nautilus Yachts representing the buyer in the deal. The 52.88m superyacht Noble House sold

“Build me the finest yacht for her length and tonnage ever created.” These were the words that has lead to the superyacht Anodyne - known before as Boundless - to be rebuilt at the Derecktor shipyard in Florida. We speak with the yacht’s captain and project manager Parker B. Stockdale to find out why her owner decided to set out on such a demanding venture.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158172/image/large-e16a6a652bd4f0b8f55c9746a6cb3bf4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158172">What started out as a non-intensive refit after being purchased by her current owner in March 2014, has now been upgraded to a complete rebuild and extension of Anodyne. Once completed under the Derecktor yacht brand, the once 95-foot yacht (originally constructed at Brazilian shipyard Inace in 2010) will measure 110 feet in length and feature an entirely new exterior design and interior arrangement and decoration.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158173/image/large-6d0fb118526eae413e3f8c4d93f0517a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158173">Parker notes that the decision to embark on such an intensive project was made soon into the original upgrade of the vessel. “As the layers were peeled back we found gross neglect which appeared to date as far back as the build of the project. There were immense structural defects, extraordinarily dangerous electrical arrangements, along with a seemingly endless list of extremely sub-standard ship building practices.” Retaining not more than 50% of the original shell plating as a base for the new yacht, it s not such a stretch to view Anodyne as a complete new build project in its own right.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158174/image/large-cd7ca2de13877367ed436db9dd524f90.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158174">Most parties would see this as more than enough cause to pull the plug on the project and be better off scrapping the yacht. However, the owner saw this as an opportunity to breathe new life into a vessel that would seem, was never meant to leave the harbour. “Instead of walking away from the project, the owner finds his enjoyment and satisfaction in taking something that was so poorly created and giving it a new lease on life,” comments her captain. It would seem then that her new owner and Anodyne were meant to be; a man who enjoys the process of such a rebuild project as much as the pleasures that come with the vessel’s use.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158175/image/large-2cb29e6f1e186ffded0b5e97eced5a32.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158175">Overing Yacht Design has been drafted to handle the project’s exterior design and naval architecture, with Lisa Pirofsky Designs responsible for creating Anodyne’s new interior. “The owner is very involved with the project down to the finest details,” says Stockdale. “He has worked very closely with me and the design team in choosing the finest materials, equipment, systems, and software for the vessel. The vessel is being built well above Lloyds Register standards for Special Service Craft as well as flag state standards.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158176/image/large-d0ece1fddec4c2102b585b30371c620f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158176">Some of these “above standard” features will include exceptionally low noise and vibration levels, an internal structure constructed using 316 grade stainless steel, as well as the first aviation grade glass bridge ever built in the U.S, supplied by CG Telemar. “Every detail is being scrutinised and heavily engineered, all the way down to the bilge pump float switches,” confirms Stockdale.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158177/image/large-9460f7d9d16b74f02ea1bb50f62e4374.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158177">And it seems that conducting the rebuild project in Fort Lauderdale had no alternative, with the owner strongly believing in the local skills and craftsmanship available here. “We are big supporters of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, and it means a great deal to the owner to build a vessel as specialised as this here, instead of Europe or elsewhere.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158178/image/large-9a6b9fb728622712a0f6a323992d55f2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158178">Once the project is completed in the winter of 2017, her owner intends to work with various non-profit orginisations like the Seakeeper’s Association to assist with ocean research and other environmental initiatives. In addition to this, the yacht will also be available for select chartering if not used by her owner during the planned world travels.By Charl van Rooy

Covered: The rebuild of motor yacht Anodyne in Florida

The 31.95 metre Global 104 series superyacht has been recently launched by the Chinese shipyard Cheoy Lee, as can be seen in the following pictures. Cheoy Lee launches Global Series 104 Pilothouse superyacht

Cheoy Lee Yachts Shipyard has recently announced the addition of a new model to their fleet, the Explorer 150. Created in conjunction with Overing Yacht Design, a model of the superyacht was exhibited at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show last week.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151448/image/large-d88d3bfc7b5d54c470761f3cb15cd6d0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151448">The new yacht comes with increased living spaces, with piping and wiring all conveniently located beneath the sole in order to utilise the full capacity of the vessel’s depth. The increased volume allowed added luxury and comfort inside. Designer Overing comments, “To keep the high level of efficiency plus a roomy hull is a challenge, but we have achieved that with these boats.” He continues, “It is a traditional, conservative boat with great interior space for amenities.”Powered by a single Caterpillar 3512B engine with a diesel propulsion engine forward as a backup, is combined with the large rudder and hydrodynamic bulbous hull to deliver an impressive 35% lower fuel consumption, adding a green factor to the shipyard’s Explorer series. With an increased fuel capacity, this Explorer will have a range between 7,000-9,000 nm.Traditionally known for building long-range commercial ships, the shipyard state that, “The luxury amenities of the model are unsurpassed by other vessels in its class. The yacht was launched in 1997 as&nbsp;Saint James and sold to her current owner in 2009.

Superyacht Mehzam in The Pearl Qatar

JFA is currently finishing a superyacht project that we believe started out at Inace in Brazil, although this has not been confirmed by the yard. The naval architecture was completed by Overing Yacht Designs, the interior by Kirschtein Designs.The main deck full beam Master cabin with its private salon, office, dressing room and his and her bathrooms provides a considerable private living space. Aft of this is the galley, dining room, guest bathroom, salon and expansive aft deck. The lower deck contains 5 guest cabins off a lobby with a separate crew entry.The interior of this 135´ motor yacht is fashioned from American cherry wood.JFA cannot officially comment on this project at this stage, but will release more information in the near future.

JFA completing 41 metre superyacht project

All Ocean Yachts is expanding its line of composite built Explorer Yachts.
