Leopard Yachts has announced the first Leopard 28M yacht will begin construction this year following their acquisition by Seven Stars last year.

Italian yacht builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1364" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Permare s.r.l. (Company)">Permare Shipyard</a> has disclosed more details of its latest 41-metre steel explorer superyacht during this year’s Monaco Yacht Show: the Amer 41.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243377/image/large-15cd8d2204673f7775d179b07cb0a232.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243377">The exterior and interior designs of the vessel are by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/283" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luiz de Basto Designs (Company)">Luiz de Basto</a>, with naval architecture by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5771" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Optima Design (Company)">Optima Design</a>. Commissioned at the beginning of 2022, the 41-metre explorer vessel is slated for delivery in early 2025 and will be able to accommodate up to 10 guests across five staterooms, as well as eight crew members.&nbsp;Her builders outline that she will feature an innovative hull shape, as well as an advanced new propulsion system aiming to significantly reduce consumption and emissions, whilst still guaranteeing silence and comfort for her onboard guests.&nbsp;In addition, the yacht will also be fitted with a new evolutionary system to quickly and safely launch and retrieve tenders. Boasting a shallow draft of just 2.25 metres, the Amer 41 is expected to impress where performance is concerned, with her four <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5350" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Volvo Penta (Company)">Volvo Penta</a> 515 kw engines delivering an approximate top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots, with a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 11 knots.

(Company)">Permare</a> is now under construction in Tuscany, Italy, she is a fully custom design for a European client and will be delivered in 2026. Dr Vienna Eleuteri, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5877" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Water Revolution Foundation (Company)">Water Revolution Foundation</a>'s initiator and sustainability scientist commented, "Today, an innovative approach towards ecological transition is about acknowledging the ocean-climate nexus and the central role of marine ecosystem conservation for a healthy planet, I am very pleased with this group of builders taking the lead in setting up structural reinvestment by the yachting sector to regenerate our oceans."The entirety of the funds will go the Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) endorsed by the WRF and promoted as one of the most effective programmes for ocean conservation. The shipyards are committing to contributing the amount of €1 per gross ton they delivered in 2021. For each new yacht delivered, the yards will match the gross tonnage in euros and reinvest this via <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5877" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Water Revolution Foundation (Company)">Water Revolution Foundation</a> into IMMA for its North Atlantic project which starts in early 2022. The amount of €1 per GT is based on the €555,000 target funding needed to start the two-year North Atlantic IMMA project. This target amount was divided by the 455,000 total expected GT to be delivered in 2021 and rounded off to €1. The builders that committed have so far delivered around 60,000 GT in 2021, meaning that more builders much join the programme in order to meet the target amount, a firm call to action for the industry.&nbsp;
