New Zealand shipyard Profab Engineering has signed a contract for the build of a 39.5-metre catamaran explorer yacht codenamed the Beast. Known as the builders of Adagio and Black Pearl, Profab Engineering’s dedicated superyacht division will oversee the build of the yacht.

With an estimated launch date of December 2018, the project is being built for an experienced yachtsman who is no stranger to owning Kiwi-built yachts. The Beast will comprise of a 495 GT internal volume, largely due to her enormous beam of 12 metres.

Designed for the vibrant charter market of the South Pacific with 37South Yacht Charter, the yacht is being built to house several guest-pleasing tenders and toys to ensure hours of fun on the water. On her aft deck she is to carry is a 13-metre sportsfishing tender as well as a 9-metre amphibious tender that gets guests onto land without having to get their feet wet.

She will sleep 12 guests in five cabins and is designed to operate over long distances with a fuel tank of 76,000 litres. The Beast is designed by local New Zealand design office LOMOcean.

Profab Engineering signs build of 40m multihull explorer

Build Project 08 is currently under construction at Profab Central Engineering Ltd in Palmerston North, New Zealand. The hull was successfully rolled over in October, and the superstructure is now rapidly taking shape.
