Turkey is deep seated in the traditions of boatbuilding – and in recent years the nation has ramped up production in the upper echelons of luxury and class, delivering an astounding portfolio of superyachts from Istanbul, Yalova and Antalya. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243279/image/large-cded74eb6e1c5e9db030f827c223c065.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243279">During a press conference held at Yacht Club de Monaco at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2022">2022 Monaco Yacht Show</a>, it was announced that a key player from the region is riding the wave of success and looking to penetrate the superyacht segment with not one but three new models. That builder is none other than <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena Marine</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/208271/image/large-b34bc8466169490b74bb2a742e5aebd4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/208271">SuperYacht Times caught up with Çağın Genç, Chief Executive Officer of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena Marine</a>, during the bustling third day of <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2022">Monaco Yacht Show</a> to hear more about this innovative, and possibly trend defining new series of superyachts. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243282/image/large-39484601c6ba8fe4a9d2427e6d58b21b.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243282">What drove the decision to design and present a new flagship series? &nbsp;We like to move forward step by step, you could even call it a corporate approach. We’re headed up by a member of the Koç family, the family that owns Turkey’s largest industrial and services conglomerate, including <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>. Our financial backing then is unparalleled and incredibly sound – but we still wanted a firm footing and to establish ourselves before venturing into the superyacht segment.&nbsp;Our brand has become well established as we were initially producing yachts to an incredible standard for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/358" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut Yachts (Company)">Azimut</a>. Building for such an established and leading brand led us to the decision to start building our own fleet. In 2017 we delivered our first unit, a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 64, and in the subsequent years we expanded our portfolio with four additional models: the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 58, 68, 78 and the flagship 88, which has a length of 26.81-metres. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199548/image/large-ad12370d01095d92ef80c477854f87e4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199548">The series has seen great success and we have delivered 100 units in just five years. This speaks for itself, but the feedback we’ve received has been incredibly positive and our order book is full until 2025. Looking at the trends in the market, we feel we’re well positioned to step up and offer 35, 45 and 55-metre yachts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243278/image/large-1cc0e336b604c8769dfc7875707c9917.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243278">Have any emerging trends influenced the design of this new series?&nbsp;Yes, greatly so. The average age of our clientele has dropped by around 10 years, and many of whom are new to yachting. We’re talking about young professionals who have seen success in their respective industries – mostly tech. This new demographic comes with new sets of demands and, importantly, dreams.&nbsp;They’re looking at yachting differently, bucking traditional and typical design trends. One key aspect is dining; many of our new clients are looking for less formal dining areas and more versatile, casual social spaces. We’ve fed this directly into our new series, freeing up as much casual social space as possible, installing just two dining areas: one in the upper deck and the other on the sky deck. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243284/image/large-a4ec651cb9248826a48f7ae5b911a91e.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243284">Where did the inspiration for a split-level foredeck come from?Private space is an imperative for yachting; we wanted to maximise the amount of exclusive on deck space for our clients. We wanted to create something new and interesting – and importantly, something that can fit within the parameters of a 35, 45 and 55-metre platform. The owner’s apartment spans two levels, occupying the forward section of the yacht. We thought it only fit to offer the same character for the foredeck itself.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243283/image/large-475095c24f34ebfcb6cdbb8cfbf0ca7b.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243283">How has the reception been so far?&nbsp;We’ve had some really positive feedback from our clients, especially for the 30-metre in this new series. The smaller from the range is a natural progression for many of them, who have enjoyed life onboard one of our 58, 68, 78 or 88 models. The shipyard is bolstering this arm of things with three new explorer yachts each brimming with unique charm, and one of which is being built on speculation.&nbsp;The shipyard has a major luxury that many other yards don’t have, and that’s the financial prowess of a leading holding company that keeps the turbines turning. The explorer has been designed for an experienced yacht owner who requested a yacht that could handle long-range, super-efficient cruising. We are now ready to reflect all that experience in this new line of explorers.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/241492/image/large-e4b22f0ca1ae8946a207051795134a07.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/241492">Following Seven Seas is the 49.9-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a>-designed superyacht Aries. “We wanted to start a new build that will be sporty and attractive, rugged and elegant explorer,” Özgür Numan, Yacht Department Director at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>, commented. Therefore we agreed to collaborate with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a> to create a versatile exploring super yacht under 500 gross tonnes. The yacht resembles a previous joint concept by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a>, the RMK5000, but this vessel will feature a newly developed hull of greater volume and exterior area in the forward section”.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/241491/image/large-5edea38c8c5212358929567f21fda0c5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/241491">Aries is the most utilitarian project in-build and is expected to have a lavish interior that off-sets its masculine exterior lines. The superyacht will be able to accommodate as many as 12 guests and nine crew, and is set to be teeming with amenities. Arguably, her most standout feature is her open aft deck that is incredibly versatile, as it can be used for tender storage or transformed into a very generous social space, thanks to a pair of fold-out wings in her bulwark. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/241493/image/large-ade91f23f5e66842492740a8880ba3e9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/241493">The aft deck is home to a large pool and has multiple seating arrangements spread across the tri-tired deck space; offering guests a space that is simultaneously social and private. Aries is being built on speculation and is expected to be launched in 2024. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/223055/image/large-f9e8057e454caee1729e658684b5ac1f.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/223055">The final project underway at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a> is the shipyard’s forthcoming flagship, the 65-metre ER65, scheduled to be completed in 2025. The superyacht is being built to a design by Ivan Erdevicki and his Vancouver-based studio, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1343" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ER Yacht Design (Company)">ER Yacht Design</a>, and boasts state-of-the-art luxury coupled with round-the-world capabilities, meeting stringent ice &amp; polar class requirements.&nbsp;“This is the kind of project that a yacht designer waits for all his life,” Ivan Erdevicki commented. “The owner specifically requested a custom-designed long-range go-anywhere project for an expedition motor yacht, with style and an elegant timeless-classic look, that I was very happy to land on my desk!”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/223056/image/large-ce046b6ac62cb1b45b6099b4d8c51c81.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/223056">The 65-metre ER65 marks the start of a promising long-term partnership between the Canadian design studio and the Turkish shipyard. The first fruit of this relationship is certainly exciting and the team has ensured she packs a punch. The ER65 is fitted with a library, sauna, gym, beach club, massage room and medical centre. The 65-metre “go-anywhere” explorer will become the flagship of the yacht division of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/223055/image/large-f9e8057e454caee1729e658684b5ac1f.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/223055">“We are very excited about the idea of building this craft,” Özgür Numan, Yacht Department Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>, said. “ When we first saw the general arrangements of the yacht, we simply fell in love with its elegance and graceful sheer line, which is quite a rare feature nowadays.”&nbsp;While the ER65 may be the largest yacht, in terms of length and volume, to be constructed at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>, the site’s commercial counterpart has built and delivered a number of ships that exceed the 150-metre mark. “We have also built numerous Ice Class vessels to polar standards, which is one of the reasons why our shipyard is a perfect fit for a project such as the ER65,” Numan added.&nbsp;The ER65 will blend stately living with rugged exploration. Her interior design will be clean and minimalistic without compromising on comfort. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1343" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ER Yacht Design (Company)">ER Yacht Design</a> has drawn her with an array of state-of-the-art features and amenities; the ER65 will have a library, sauna, gym, beach club, massage room and medical centre. She’ll also have accommodation for as many as 12 guests and 20 crew.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/223056/image/large-ce046b6ac62cb1b45b6099b4d8c51c81.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/223056">“This is the kind of project that a yacht designer waits for his entire life,” Ivan Erdevicki, Founder and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1343" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ER Yacht Design (Company)">ER Yacht Design</a>, said. “The owner specifically requested a custom-designed long-range go-anywhere project for an expedition motor yacht, with style and an elegant timeless-classic look, that I was happy to land on his desk.”The exterior design also follows this minimalistic cue. The surfaces have been softened and rounded to create an almost organically sculpted, but technically controlled design. Importantly, the ER65 will be built to strict <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd’s</a> Ice Class standards and polar class requirements – she’ll be one of the few yachts to carry the title of Polar Code Category B – Ice Class PC 6.&nbsp;“The ER65 will be used as a true expedition vessel that continuously cruises the world for many years to come,” Erdevicki added. “The owner plans to visit the polar regions as well as more tropical areas of the world. The ER65 needs to be versatile, embodying the true meaning of expedition.”&nbsp;It’s not just her Ice Class that gives her expedition credentials, the ER65 will sport an innovative hybrid propulsion system and have bags of space for all the necessary equipment. She’ll have a helipad with a refuelling station, a deepwater submarine with a dedicated watertight compartment, a tender garage that can stow two eight-metre custom-built expedition tenders alongside Jet Skis and other toys.&nbsp;The keel will be laid during the third quarter of this year, and the ER65 is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.

When SuperYacht Times recently dropped by the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a> studio, we began by asking the company principals whether this has been by choice or chance. &nbsp;Antonio: A bit of both. Certainly most of our clients today are European or Turkish. When we were starting out it was probably easier to find work in Turkey and we’ve maintained those friendships and connections. Turkey is also ideally suited to our core business for yachts between 40 and 70 metres. A key aspect of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a> is that most of our work is full-custom, which is another reason why our Turkish customers come to us. We also have Latin American clients and we are working to develop the North American market through our broker contacts. But the market is opening up: a few years ago we would never have knocked on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>’s door, for example, but even they are now presenting smaller concepts within our size range.You head up a young team of designers – is that a draw for younger owners?Enrico: It certainly doesn’t do any harm. The owners of the first two 43-metre Atlantique hulls in build at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a> are in their early 40s like us, for example, and we have a lot of enquiries from owners looking to acquire their first yacht of 40 or 50 metres. This means they come to the table with very different set of expectations than the older generation of owners, who probably grew up with smaller boats before investing in a superyacht.&nbsp;We’re told that younger owners are more interested in sustainable technology for their yachts. Is that your experience?Antonio: Just recently we had a discussion with an owner’s representative interested in a 75-metre project with advanced hybrid propulsion, eco-efficient glass, energy recycling, and so on. But that was just one customer. Even among younger owners, sustainability is rarely a priority.&nbsp;Enrico: Yachting is at least a decade behind the automotive industry in this respect. I started to think seriously about buying an electric car in 2020 when they were still at a premium: now you see Teslas all over the place. The technology for yachts is still developing and it’s going to take a while for both the products and perceptions to catch up.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/213969/image/large-94be124531b9db0a91dffdfdf0b81467.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/213969">Your most recent exterior designs have a harder, cleaner edge to them. Does&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a>&nbsp;have an in-house style?Enrico: More than a style, I think we have an in-house ethos that is reflected in our designs. The Architecture for Voyagers philosophy looks to renew the balance between structure and form, elegance and versatility. The Columbus Atlantique range, for example, expresses what we are all about: clean, contemporary lines without any fussy adornment. Sailing yachts are rarely over-designed, so we combined Italian GT sports car motifs with a classic scooped-out sailboat stern that highlights the essence of travelling by sea.Antonio: Our focus has changed since Enrico took over as head of design and we’ve seen this in the projects we have in build or in development with four times the number of exterior designs we had ten years ago. The way we present projects to shipyards and brokers has also changed. We used to go with a portfolio of what we had already done, take notes on what they were looking for, and go away and come up with a design. Most of our proposals today have already been developed independently in-house. This was the case for the Atlantique range, but also the Neptune and Superleggera concepts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/202265/image/large-c3e133582ee8776af0ff79bcc50f5f26.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/202265">Is there a yacht project that you would like to design given the opportunity?Enrico: There are a couple of projects we worked on during lockdown when we had more time to spread our wings that I’d like to develop further, also because they are smaller than what we usually do. But I’m also very interested in the evolution of &nbsp;relationship between spaces in yacht design. We’re starting to see yachts of 55 metres or more that are under 500 GT, and you can only do that by having more open or semi-open spaces. This in turn influences the exterior proportions and the relationship between full and empty volumes.&nbsp;Antonio: I think this is one of the most exciting design trends we’re seeing at the moment. The most recent example is 58.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7555" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Phi58.5m (191'11&quot;)Royal Huisman Shipyard BV2021">Phi</a>, the longest yacht under 500 GT, designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/43" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cor D. Rover Design (Company)">Cor D Rover</a> and built by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman Shipyard BV (Company)">Royal Huisman</a>. These low-rise superstructures and long, slender hulls are more challenging to design and engineer, but we’re seeing more and more demand for this kind of yacht. We’ve started experimenting with designs of our own and the 50-metre explorer concept for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1661" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tankoa Yachts S.p.A. (Company)">Tankoa</a>, for example, is available in two different versions that prioritise interior volume or hull length.

<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena Marine</a> in Turkey recently appointed a new Chief Executive Officer: Çağın Genç, formerly COO, replaces outgoing CEO İpek Kıraç, now company president and an heir to Koç Holding, one of Turkey's largest industrial conglomerates. During the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cannes Yachting Festival - 2021">Cannes Yachting Festival</a>, where the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 68 was making her international debut, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena Yachts</a> further announced it was diversifying into superyacht production. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4509" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuperYacht Times (Company)">SuperYacht Times</a> sat down with the new CEO to find out more. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/207814/image/large-bab590b20bf7a30c4191838b101c2ad4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/207814">You’ve been with the&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena</a>&nbsp;brand almost from the beginning. Was becoming CEO always part of the plan?&nbsp;You could say that in recent years that was where my career path was headed, certainly since I became COO in 2019. &nbsp;I joined <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena</a> in 2008, two years after the company was established and I worked first on the production side, then quality control, purchasing, sales and after-sales, and so on. I’ve worked in every department and seen the company develop, so today I know the brand and its products inside out.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199554/image/large-911abe4382878a4dfefdc583f6e9803e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199554">In what ways has the company developed? We grew our production skills building for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6046" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut-Benetti Group (Company)">Azimut-Benetti</a>, but because of contractual limitations we could build only sailboats under out own Azuree and Euphoria brands, not motor boats. Then the 2008 financial crisis came along and the market slumped. The idea had been to build around 150 units for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/358" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut Yachts (Company)">Azimut</a> each year, but we never reached that number. Both sides were affected financially so we were eventually able to renegotiate the contract and continue as a supplier, but also start up our own branded production of motor boats. We still build the Magellano 43 for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/358" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut Yachts (Company)">Azimut</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/63444/image/large-074423990115d0a983d64b011111584d.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63444">What was your first motor yacht?The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 64. We started the design development in 2013 with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/171" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="German Frers (Company)">German Frers</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/118" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Design Studio Spadolini S.r.l (Company)">Tommaso Spadolini</a>. We had the skill sets from working with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/358" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut Yachts (Company)">Azimut</a>, but we were also able to draw on the know-how of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Marine (Company)">Sirena Marine</a>’s parent company, Kıraça Holding, in the automotive and textile sectors. We launched the first <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 64 at the end of 2016, but we had the crazy idea that we wanted to present to the market not just one but two models, so we developed the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 58 at the same time. The first <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 64 made her debut in Dusseldorf in 2017, where she was sold, and the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 58 premiered in Miami just after. The feedback from dealers and owners was very positive and we realised we’d found a sweet spot in the market.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/23337/image/large-03026347c12401fd827f5091437475de.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/23337">How have your products developed since then?<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena Yachts</a> have always been based on superior interior volume and performance. The former is thanks to the hull form with a straight bow, which allows us to push the forward suite further forward and have a cabin almost as big as the master suite. Then you start gaining more space at the back of the boat as well and we calculate that our models have 15-20 percent more volume that comparable boats. It also helps that our hulls have a higher freeboard than usual, and we use carbon fibre in the superstructure to reduce the amount of material required and keep the centre of gravity low. The seakeeping and stability is thanks to the round-bilge hull, which is actually a hybrid design because it also has a chine for more speed. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/171" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="German Frers (Company)">German Frers</a> has been responsible for the naval architecture and exterior styling from the start. More recently, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/118" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Design Studio Spadolini S.r.l (Company)">Spadolini</a>’s interior layouts and design for the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> 64, 68 and 88 have been revisited by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/43" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cor D. Rover Design (Company)">Cor D Rover</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/63445/image/large-d9d32e074ee4341d22cdcd83325cbe97.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63445">And how have your processes developed?Our way of doing things is a bit different than other fibreglass builders. Over half of our personnel come from the automotive segment, our holding company’s core business and one of the most efficient and productive manufacturing sectors. This knowledge means we have a systematic, industrial approach that affects the decision-making process, quality control, how we use the jigs and move hulls around. For example, we’ve imported comprehensive quality control checklists used in the automotive industry so critical steps can’t be missed or forgotten. I would say this puts us ahead of head of many of our competitors.You’ve announced you’re going to start building superyachts over 30 metres or 100 feet. Is that market pull or push?Both. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena Yachts</a> has reached a stage where we want to be able to offer our clients more choice. The idea is to have three new semi-custom models between around 30 and 50 metres in length and below 500 GT that will retain the design DNA of our existing fleet, which we’re also looking to expand with two new models, one between the 68 and 88 and another entry-level offering. We’ve just completed our internal briefing for the superyacht range and the next stage will be to ask our favourite designers to come up with concept proposals. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199550/image/large-ae71d7de3861deff472e4af5a435d93f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199550">Where will you build them and are you prepared to start the first on spec?We’re currently geared up to build smaller yachts at our facility inland, which is more cost effective. For larger yachts it makes sense to be close to the sea to avoid the issue of transport and we have a 10-year agreement with the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK&nbsp;</a>shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul, part of the Koç group, to rent 2,500 square metres of hangar space, but we’re also looking into opportunities to acquire a facility of our own with access to the sea. For sure we’re prepared to build the first hull on spec. The two biggest hulls will likely be in metal and the smallest in fibreglass, but this has yet to be finalised. I would probably go for the mid-sized model, which will have a good mix of superyacht features. Either way, we’ve promised our chairman that we will be ready to present the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4910" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sirena Yachts (Company)">Sirena</a> superyacht range in Monaco next year!

The yacht has a sheer bow and aggressive aesthetic.

Dutch design firm, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/15" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vripack (Company)">Vripack</a>, and the Turkish shipyard, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a>, have released the details of their latest superyacht design collaboration, the 37-metre RMK 120. The superyacht, named Seven Seas, is currently in build at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK Marine</a> facilities in Istanbul.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195899/image/large-875a6ad468f8ba2d7e732a54c8042437.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195899">Seven Seas is described by her designers as a “pocket-sized explorer imagined on a grand scale”, incorporating aspects typically found in explorer yachts much larger into her sub-500 GT interior. Details of the in build 37m explorer superyacht Seven Seas have been released. The design is the sixth collaboration between Vripack and RMK Marine.
