The inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR) will kick off in just two days time, marking the start of the charter season in Phuket and the surrounding areas. Hosted from 10th until 12th December, the invitation-only event will welcome Kata Rocks villa owners, superyacht owners and yachting industry professionals for a social and relaxed three days.

Highlights from the rendezvous include welcome reception on a superyacht plus a cruise with the fleet to a secluded beach for a gourmet BBQ at The Surin resort. There is also a 'Gins of the World' sunset cocktails, a 'yacht hop' and 'big boy’s toys' on the water showcase followed by the exclusive Infinite Luxury Feadship Owner’s Dinner in Kata Rock’s iconic Sky Villa Penthouse and a grand finale that concludes with the Kata Rocks Charter Season Opening Party.

The KRSR is part of a series of coordinated yachting events starting with the Phuket King's Cup Regatta, from 3rd to 10th December. This year the King's Cup is followed by the inaugural KRSR from 10th to 12th December, and culminating with the Thailand Yacht Show from 15th to 18th December. Countdown to Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous

Following a meeting between the Thai government and Phuket industry stakeholders held recently, new plans have been announced in regards to legislation for superyacht charters and foreign flagged yachts in the region. According to Adam Frost of Seal Superyachts Thailand, the decision to overhaul current legislation that has stunted the growth of the superyacht industry in Thailand will work to, “Firmly establish the country as the leading Superyacht Hub of ASEAN.”Three integral areas of improvement have been highlighted to reach this Superyacht Hub goal. The first outlines the building of more first-class marinas throughout the country, the second to develop and issue Charter Licenses for foreign flagged yachts, the third being the creation and support of new international standard yacht shows.The superyacht Charter License is expected to be in place in the next six months, allowing foreign flagged yachts to charter in Thai waters right in time for the Thai high season which will begin in November. Furthermore, Thai immigration laws will also be revised in order to allow crew to legally and easily stay for longer periods of time in the country."This is a significant announcement for the local Superyacht support industry in SE Asia ahead of the imminent ASEAN economic integration, with emphasis on foreign-flagged charter vessels wishing to enter Thailand waters," comments Frost. He continues, "The Thai government recognises the benefit of visiting Superyachts, and thus these newly proposed changes to the legal framework will be welcomed in order to bring growth to the industry."By Gemma Fottles

Queen of Andaman - New luxury charter yacht in South East Asia

Now in the final stages of construction, this beautiful new 41 Meter classic motor sailor design will be launched in early June, ready for sea trials in Turkey and hand over to the new owner in July 2007. Once complete, Queen of Andaman will be heading to her new home port of Phuket, Thailand. She will become the largest Thai registered sailing yacht, being fully licensed to offer charters in Thai waters. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122461/image/large-fb55c0671b45327d355a382a196a418b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122461"> Under the Management and Central Charter brokerage of Seal Superyachts, Queen of Andaman will be available for charter from November 2007 onwards. Encompassing four master guest cabins, the yacht will offer all amenities expected of a modern superyacht. Each luxuriously appointed guest cabin will have satellite television, wi-fi broadband Internet and telephone access, as well as large flat screen plasma television, Bose entertainment system, minibar and safe.Dining areas for ten guests are in the main salon, as well as exterior dining on the aft-deck and fly bridge.
