Jet-Tern Marine, the Chinese partner of Guido de Groot Design in the Netherlands, started engineering work on the new Selene 78 Ocean Explorer several months ago. The partnership has already produced the mould for the first yacht. This represents a landmark moment as the yacht is the first Selene 78 from Selene Yachts’ Ocean Explorer line. In addition to the Selene 78, Jet-Tern Marine is also currently building a Selene 92 Ocean Explorer.<img alt="" src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/146332/image/large-ace5487f8bc93cabcf06da0bd0100023.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146332" class="legacy">The new Selene 78 is being built for a North American customer and is slated for delivery in the summer of 2015. Her extensive range and stylish interior make this trawler yacht ideal for long voyages in luxury and comfort. The first Selene 78 Ocean Explorer has a length of almost 24 metres and a beam of 6.50 metres. Her volume is greater than many yachts of a similar length thanks to the round bilge and deep hull form and her cruiser stern. These features are also responsible for the yacht’s excellent seagoing sailing properties and relatively low fuel consumption.<img alt="" src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/140867/image/large-f844bc0459a65baa02f46bb65ebcd413.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/140867" class="legacy">This exceptional volume also ensures plenty of living and sleeping space on board.
