The 120m Project Y910 is currently berthed in the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/295" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fincantieri Yachts (Company)">Fincantieri Shipyard</a> in Trieste and is ready for conversion. Originally a commercial vessel, the yacht has been semi converted, allowing the future owner to fully put their mark on her. Substantial headway has already been made with the conversion; the hull, superstructure, and most of the crew areas now complete. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/295" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fincantieri Yachts (Company)">Fincantieri</a>, her conversion fitters, is confident that the future owner can complete this conversion project in under 18 months<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/205702/image/large-4b2d06e3fc1cef90cc3d6aff9afc457c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/205702">Not only is this among the top twenty biggest yacht conversions, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/295" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fincantieri Yachts (Company)">Fincantieri</a> is working to make her completion a historic event. Sustainability and unlimited horizons are the mantras behind this rebuild. Her innovative hull design, hybrid propulsion and waste heat recovery are just three ways that will make this a reality.&nbsp;As the main bulk of the conversion is still to be designed, the possibilities of how this vessel will be shaped are only capped by the imagination. At &nbsp;approximately 6,000 GT and with over 2,500 square-metre of guest interior, there is considerable space for the future owner to play with. The exterior is vast and already features two helicopter platforms and one lift hanger. There is also a pool on the upper deck and space to add gyms and bars, while still leaves plenty of space for lounging areas. She will be equipped with a wide selection of toys, from Jet skis through to diving gear. Inside, Project Y910 can accommodate up to thirty-six guests across her eighteen staterooms, not including the space for her fifty crew. She is built with an Ice Class 1A hull which means she can cut through the Arctic at ease. Her 10,000 nautical mile range also makes this possible, and with a cruising speed of 14 nautical mile she can cover distances at a good steady rate. Her design, then, can also make her a strong companion for long expeditions. The Project Y910 can get researchers to remote destinations, while also providing space for all the necessary equipment and sanctuary for the needed rest bite. She used to sail under the name Vladimir Chivilikhin until she underwent conversion and was extended to the length she is now. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1995" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="McFarlane ShipDesign (Company)">McFarlane ShipDesign</a> took charge of her exterior and naval architecture during her previous conversion, while <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4535" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Stirling & Co. (Company)">Stirling &amp; Co</a> penned her interior. The exterior was completed, but the project went on hold for unknown reasons before work could go underway inside. Her interior is finished in a neutral colour palette and her main saloon features large windows as well as an expansive skylight, which allows for plenty of natural light. She underwent a refit whereby <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4535" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Stirling & Co. (Company)">Stirling &amp; Co</a> carried out the design of her interior and exterior. In partnership with Fraser, Royal Huisman unveiled a new 49.25-metre motor yacht project during last week’s Monaco Yacht Show named Marlin. This classically-inspired project sees design heavyweights Germán Frers and Oliver Stirling working their magic on the exterior and interior of the vessel respectively to create a timeless and elegant vessel that will appeal to a discerning and experienced owner.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/14547/image/large-62ab6e9e2cb07417a2acb48e2c9cb396.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14547">Marlin is not the first project these two designers have worked together on and as with previous projects, managed to establish a synergy between the interior and exterior that allows for an uninterrupted and seamless experience on board. Despite her classic look, Stirling explains that she is far from being an old-school vessel. “Marlin is a very modern yacht. She combines innovative engineering and technology to create a high performance, head turning, distinctive design. She was conceived as a Gentleman’s Yacht, designed for an experienced yachtsman who understands the life on board a yacht at sea.” <img src="/uploads/store/photo/14546/image/large-371ce60d04ca4b7f64c4ff32f8449c1d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14546">With a volume just below the 500 GT mark, Marlin is designed to offer guests an intimate time at sea. Her slender beam of 9.2 metres and low freeboard height also puts guests so much closer to the ocean environment, and a series of large windows along each deck make this visually possible.Intended to be used as a private yacht, separation of the 12 guests and 11 crew formed an important part of the layout design. To achieve this, discreet access points and tucked-away workstations for the crew were first introduced with owner and guest areas then built up around this structure. “This creates a hotel culture that ensures the owner and guests receive the most efficient personal and professional onboard service,” says Stirling.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/14549/image/large-d63ef42f0c438f2a47f551f00ff1f6e0.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14549">With regards to guest accommodation, Marlin’s owner can look forward to retiring to a full-beam forward or aft-facing master suite that is located forward on the main deck. A VIP suite is placed just aft of the owner’s cabin.On a technological front, Marlin is equipped with an advanced lighting and entertainment system both inside and out on deck. The project will, therefore, benefit from each party’s experience in the field in order to deliver a highly functional yet stylish and contemporary end result. Fraser’s sales broker Andrew Bond agrees: “project Marlin speaks for itself with a unique yacht design that boasts a timeless exterior and an elegant interior with vast indoor and outdoor living spaces.”Project Marlin is offered for sale through Fraser with an asking price of €41,000,000.

Huisman Frers Stirling combine forces on new classic motor yacht project

Burgess has announced that the 56-metre Benetti superyacht Galaxy has been sold in a deal where they represented both the buyer and seller. Galaxy was launched as Al Massarah in 2005 to a design by Stefano Natucci. She was listed for sale at $26,900,000.

Galaxy completed a major refit project in 2014 that involved several structural changes to the interior of the yacht which was completely restyled by Oliver Stirling and his team. Perfectly set up for charter use, Galaxy features a vibrant, fresh and modern interior with well laid out deck spaces to accommodate a variety of guests and their needs.

Launched at the Vitters shipyard in Harlingen, the Netherlands in October last year, the performance super sailing yacht Unfurled has been delivered to her owners and is currently cruising the crystal clear water of the Caribbean. Unfurled was the Dutch shipyard’s first collaboration with Argentinian designer and naval architect German Frérs.

As seen in these images, Unfurled boasts a high performance rig setup by Southern Spars combined with a total of 3,000 square metres of sails by North Sails. The 63 metre tall mast’s running rigging was supplied by RSB Rigging.

A unique feature that posed a challenge to the yard’s engineers was to develop and construct the retractable propulsion pods that aims to reduce resistance while under sail. Vitters also developed their own headsail storage system on the yacht that would enable a shorthanded crew to efficiently stow and change sails.

Inside, Oliver Stirling created a contemporary interior, and Unfurled can accommodate her guests in a full beam master suite and two guest cabins in luxury.

 

The yacht will make her regatta debut during next month’s Loro Piana Caribbean Regatta in Virgin Gorda, followed by the infamous St. Barths Bucket.

Top 10 sailing yacht launches of 2015

What started as a soft furnishings refresh for the 56 metre superyacht Galaxy has turned into a transformation. Purchasing the yacht at the end of last year, the owner decided to completely remodel the vessel over a period of seven months with a full structural refit at the Monaco Marine La Ciotat shipyard. The interiors were also completely restyled by Oliver Stirling and his team at Stirling &amp; Co. Though time constraints were present in order to get the charter yacht ready in time for the Genoa Charter Show, the team pulled through and presented a brand new Galaxy at the event.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151722/image/large-4edab5d61d4f9af616e3d413ac5b3d0c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151722">In regards to alterations to the interior, it was overhauled to create a fresh, minimalist environment with a unique aesthetic. A core palette of stainless steel, glass, white marmorino and ivory leather was selected to harmonise with feature materials of white onyx, striking black agate and palisander veneer, with dashes of colour being present in smaller, decorative details. Her interiors were further enhanced with statement pieces from the owner’s 20th century modern art collection, including several Basquiats, a La Chapelle and a Warhol.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151723/image/large-9d7f6046ba8f8c668ddeb3e76d2f689d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151723">At the entrance to the main saloon is a new internally lit white onyx bar. The upper deck saloon was radically reconfigured to create a relaxing space with deep white sofas, large rotating leather chairs, a bar and a concealed 80” TV. Vitters Shipyard has released more information about 46 metre superyacht project 3072, with the yard describing the first yacht to be built by Vitters to a design by Argentinian designer, German Frers, as a project that displays “the essence of active enjoyment.” Combining extensive experience of high performance cruisers, the inaugural relationship between the two has been an emphatic success.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148438/image/large-ae3eae4dae968f633bd30c116c98fab6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148438">The vessel has a variety of unique features, one of the most challenging for Vitters to engineer and build being the unique retractable pods for propulsion. Another interesting feature is the headsail storage system developed in-house for the handling of large code sails. Designed for ease of handling with a shorthanded crew, two sail stowing drums are placed under the foredeck.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148439/image/large-e9297dc7fce1eebf7bcf9ff2a5713300.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148439">Project 3072 is primarily designed as a cruiser. However, the involvement of the experienced owners with the teams at the yard regarding high levels of dedication to both performance and sailing abilities ensures that she will be a worthy contestant on the regatta circuit. Project 3072 offers luxurious yet comfortable accommodation over three cabins, including the spacious full-beam owner's’ stateroom with his &amp; her bathrooms, and two guest cabins with ensuite facilities.
