Launched in 2008 under the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/1410" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Terranova 11535.05m (114'12&quot;)">Terranova 115</a> series, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1411" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tananai35.05m (114'12&quot;)Terranova Yachts2008">Tananai</a> is the biggest motor yacht built by the Italian shipyard. The 191 GT superyacht features naval architecture and exterior design by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/464" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Barracuda Yacht Design Ltd. (Company)">Barracuda Yacht Design</a>, while her builder, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/920" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Terranova Yachts (Company)">Terranova</a>, penned her interior design. Constructed entirely in GRP, the three-deck superyacht has a cruising speed of 14 knots and can reach a top speed of 17 knots. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1411" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tananai35.05m (114'12&quot;)Terranova Yachts2008">Tananai</a> mainly cruises in the Italian waters and is currently offered for sale with an asking price of €4,200,000.

Following the recent takeover of Terranova Italian Yachts (previously named Terranova Yachts), the company has told SuperYacht Times that they will begin to restart building three models at facilities in Viareggio and Pisa as soon as the re-launch period for the shipyard is completed.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/156044/image/large-701df54627ff24b88c070cf2c98e4e3f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156044">Mr. Massimigliano Zilioli, a yacht owner with over 20 years experience in the industry, is the Italian company’s new CEO, who told us that the build of the three projects - the 68 Yacht, 85 Yacht and 115 Yacht - will commence over the next few months. Zilioli says, “The building process will start-up the coming Autumn 2015. Unfortunately we are not ready with a new boat for Cannes Yachting Festival; as you can imagine our marketing strategy to re-launch the new shipyard foresees the presentation of at least one of our new boats.”Though the company offices are not in close proximity to the sea, Zilioli assures that the upcoming vessels will be built in either Viareggio or Pisa either by the company’s own technicians or by subcontractors.By Gemma Fottles

Changes at Terranova Italian Yachts

Barracuda Yacht Design have just completed the naval architecture and exterior styling for the 35m <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/1410">Terranova 115</a>’ motor yacht, the largest of three Terranova moderate displacement luxury Explorer vessels. The Terrranova 115’ is expected to launch in Autumn 2007 and is currently being completed at the company’s 9,000m² ultra-modern shipbuilding facilities in Lavagna, Italy. <div align="center"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122689/image/large-faa54e70836ef3a24ffb58b02d176d91.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122689"></div> The <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/1410">Terranova 115</a>’ is built using a combination of VTR, lamination and isophthalic polyester and fibre glass, in a composite sandwich construction, using biaxial and quadriaxial textiles in the lay up. Primary propulsion will be via twin 900hp engines with a max cruising speed of 15knots and ‘economy’ speed of 10knots. Barracuda’s first collaborated with Terranova Yachts in 2005 with the design of the (25.90m) 85’, from which the (20m) 68’ and (35m) 115’ followed. Much of the design inspiration comes from the rounded corners and flowing lines of the most stylish ships from the 1950’s and 1960’s periods. Externally each model has been given plenty of outside space. In particular, foredeck areas offer ample room for the speedy launch and recovery of various items of equipment via permanently mounted crane. At the aft each model has an ample boarding platform, for the use of swimmers and divers and launching and recovering equipment. Each model has a proportionately large fly-bridge, not just for steering, but for great viewing of local scenery and marine wildlife etc. Internally these yachts offer a high level of living space with maximum comfort. Each model makes best use of large windows offering panoramic views. The <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/1410">115</a>’ can accommodate up to a maximum of 12 guests plus crew. The lower deck houses the crew accommodation and crew galley, plus four main guest cabins, each with en suite facilities, plus a further full beam width VIP suite, with separate bathroom area. The main deck on the <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/1410">115</a>’ houses an impressive lounge and dining area and a less formal ‘breakfast’ area adjacent to the main galley. Outside there is an external dining table and seating on the aft deck further settee style seating around a low table on the foredeck area, next to a permanent Jacuzzi/plunge pool. The upper deck contains the forward looking helm station and to the rear of this a very private and luxurious owner’s state-room, containing a large bed, double bathroom, walk-in wardrobes and separate desk/table area. Patio style doors open out from the owner’s bedroom onto a further private seating and this is also where the yachts main tender is launched and stored via crane. Finally the sun deck/fly-bridge area offers plenty of sunbathing space and further fixed seating and there is an external steering position here too. Terranova have employed a classical Italian cabinetmaker to oversee the furniture, which is made out of satin-lacquered cherry wood and designed in an elegant and traditional style. Cherry has also been used for the wall panelling. Other natural fabrics, such as linen, cotton and leather add to the ambience and overall 50’/60’s period feel. These yachts overflow with character and offer a sense of purpose through their distinctive profiles and ‘retro’ look. Their fairly rugged appeal ensures they stand out from the majority of motor yachts of similar sizes. These are true sea going vessels, with many design influences taken from sailing yachts and able to cope with a wide range of challenging weather and seas. In fact it’s easy to imagine these yachts exploring far off and remote locations, where safety and self-sufficiency is paramount.
