The custom spars package by Lorima features a 31-metre rotating mast, box boom with outriggers, longeron, and crossbeam - all constructed in pre-preg, autoclave cured, high modulus carbon fiber. The coachroof-stepped mast is positioned relatively further aft than previous <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4959" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gunboat (Company)">Gunboat</a> designs, for a more balanced sail plan and centre of gravity.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/13131" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Agave24.65m (80'10&quot;)Gunboat2024">Agave</a> features lifting, retractable T-rudders designed to improve life at sea and at anchor, and offers the yacht a minimum draft of 1.3 metres, which will allow her to cruise in some of the world's most remote shallow water anchorages. Seaffinity, as it’s aptly called, has been designed in-house under the direction of Patrick le Quément to emulate the great birds of the sea. Parisian design studio Van Peteghem Lauriot Provost (VPLP) unveiled a new 100-foot sloop concept named Ampersand. As a modern take on a classic cruiser, Ampersand offers clients a performance experience with a touch of class.

The project is named after the ‘&amp;’ symbol and signifies the design’s combination of both the competitive and cruising worlds. Marc van Peteghem explains how the studio arrived at this concept: “Our starting point was the work we did for Comanche. For instance, she features a mast set further aft to inject more drive into the sail plan, a towering mainsail and a powerful fore-triangle, as well as a chined hull.”

VPLP Design’s modern classic Ampersand concept

Set to kick off on Saturday 26 December 2015, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will see an international fleet of 110 yachts from 28 nations gather at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Sydney to embark on the iconic yacht race that covers over 628 nm to reach Hobart on the Tasman Island. French design studio VPLP, known for having designed the world's largest catamaran Hemisphere, has come up with a forward-thinking trimaran concept named Komorebi. Sailing yacht Comanche in St. Barth

Hodgdon Yachts are nearing the completion of a 100’ maxi yacht with one sole focus: speed. The project is one of the largest single-hull infusions ever completed in America, and is also among the largest of its type worldwide. The project features naval architecture from French designers, Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP) and Guillaume Verdier. <div align="center"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="281" mozallowfullscreen="" src="//player.vimeo.com/video/103348207" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe></div>The yacht is scheduled to be launched in September, in time for the Sydney to Hobart race in December.
