The 33-metre explorer yacht concept Virus was born from a cooperative vision between the international yacht agency firm <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4889" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jonacor Marine (Company)">Jonacor Marine</a> and the Finnish shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5631" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brizo Yachts (Company)">Brizo Yachts</a>. The duo has a long and fruitful relationship, delivering five yachts – including a 20-metre yacht with space to stow a submarine – and a number of projects in the pipeline, including Virus. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/248797/image/large-97cbc406c256011186614fb5f8b90355.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/248797">Virus is the largest project that has been presented by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4889" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jonacor Marine (Company)">Jonacor Marine</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5631" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brizo Yachts (Company)">Brizo Yachts</a> – and, if taken to build, will be the largest yacht constructed by the Finnish shipyard. The explorer yacht is envisioned with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1456" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Germanischer Lloyd AG (Company)">Germanischer Lloyd</a> and LY3 classifications.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/248794/image/large-d9839736fff8cc323c3d36ddd2b7c190.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/248794">The explorer concept has been envisioned to offer guests maximum privacy and plenty of space to socialise with friends and family. “In conceiving&nbsp;Virus, we decided to move away from the common practice of outsourcing the exterior of the yacht to one design firm and the interior to another. We decided to entrust the entire design to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5631" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brizo Yachts (Company)">Brizo</a>, who fully realised our vision,” Igor Shmakov, Manager of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4889" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jonacor Marine (Company)">Jonacor Marine</a>, explained. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/248795/image/large-0eb99404ebe21ae558c209680a483145.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/248795">In terms of performance, Virus can be equipped with twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1470" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Scania (Company)">Scania</a> HD V8 DI16 diesel engines that deliver a 3,000 nautical mile range when cruising at 12 knots and a top speed of 14 knots.
