Abeking & Rasmussen has confirmed the sale of a new 120-metre plus superyacht. The contract for this new-build was signed last summer, making it the largest superyacht to be built by the German shipyard upon its completion. Little details of the project have been unveiled.Abeking & RasmussenThe  largest superyacht currently under construction at the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard is the 118-metre project 6507, which is now undergoing her final outfitting and which will be delivered to her owner in 2022. She will be the largest in the fleet upon her delivery, until the 120-metre plus project is launched. Project 6507 was designed by Joseph Dirand Architecture, while the project is being overseen by the owner’s representative, Cornelsen & Partner. Though the design of the project remains top secret, the superyacht will host an array of tenders and toys, including a submarine. A Neptune Lounge and a pool will also be found onboard.

The shipyard has also revealed that it has been commissioned to build three Multi Purpose Vessels, each exceeding 90 metres in length. They will also be used in Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) settings, and made to be flame retardant. The yard has also contracted two 62-metre mine hunting vessels for the Indonesian Government.

“Working on a range of projects and technologies for different clients and purposes has always been a strength of Abeking & Rasmussen,” Matthias Hellmann, CFO of Abeking & Rasmussen, explains. “Besides certain synergies we always found it very helpful to gain expertise with technologies in one market before these things were even asked for in other markets.”

As it celebrates its 114th birthday this year, having been founded in October of 1907, the German shipyard has demonstrated its range with its diverse portfolio of projects currently underway.
