Imperial announced today that it has signed a new build contract with Amels and Damen Yachting for the construction of the 120-metre project Signature. Signature is designed by Espen Øino and will be the largest Dutch-built superyacht when she is delivered in 2025. Photo: Espen Øino / Imperial
The ‘green’ project is designed and engineered according to the Lloyds Register of Shipping EP (Environment Protection) notation and will be powered by a diesel-electric plant and an Azipod propulsion system for “the lowest levels of noise and vibration ever experienced on a yacht of this size”, according to Imperial. Imperial will act as the owner’s representative and build supervisor during the construction process.
Project Signature is the ninth collaboration between Amels and Damen Yachting. “This day is a special one for Imperial,” says Imperial Director Julia Stewart. “We confirm our leadership in the 100-metre plus superyachts new construction range while proving that our important knowledge helps to raise up the level of our demanding and changing industry. Partnering with Amels and Damen Yachting shipyards makes sense for this project: they have a reputation of excellence that nobody can deny and we value their high standards and results to deliver in record time.”
Amels and Damen Yachting Managing Director, Rose Damen, shares the same level of enthusiasm for the project. “We are extremely honoured to be selected for this major 120-metre superyacht project. This superyacht adds on to our strong relationships with both Imperial and Espen Øino International. We have an excellent team on this project, including designers and engineers at our yard as well as our production department. Everyone involved is very excited and looking forward to delivering the very best vessel for the owner.”
“We are obviously very enthusiastic to be a part of this exciting project, the largest ever built by Amels,” explains designer Espen Øino. “Collaborating with the great teams from Imperial and Amels has strengthened our existing thriving relationships. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a yacht with a unique layout and a timeless external appearance blending edgy design with elegant curves. We very much look forward to seeing this impressive yacht come to life during the build process.”
According to Imperial, more information about this project will follow in the upcoming months.
