Exclusive: First look at Lürssen's 140m superyacht Scheherazade
After setting off on her maiden voyage to Norway earlier this week, the Lürssen-built superyacht Scheherazade is on the move again, this time heading south with Gibraltar as its latest destination. Photographer Tom van Oosanen rendezvoused with the 140-metre motor yacht over the North Sea yesterday to bring you these first images. Photo: Tom van Oossanen / SuperYacht Times

No official statement about the project has been released by her builder, leaving any details about the yacht open to speculation. From these images, however, it is clear that Scheherazade carries two helicopter landing pads (with D values of 18 and 15 on the upper and foredecks respectively), two outdoor Jacuzzis as well as two outdoor firepits. An enclosed sea lounge on the main deck aft increases the overall volume of the vessel, which measures at over 10,000 GT. Photo: Tom van Oossanen / SuperYacht Times

Known before as project Lightning, the yacht is currently identified as Scheherazade according to the ship’s details. With several interesting connotations, Scheherazade is most commonly a female character in the MIddle Eastern folk tales collected in the series One Thousand and One Nights.
