After having been hosted in the city of Genoa for the past 16 years, the annual MYBA Charter Show will no longer take place in the Italian maritime hub. OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona is to welcome exhibitors, brokers and media next year as the new venue for the industry’s largest gathering of charter yachts ahead of the summer cruising season.
After thorough inspection and consideration of various ports, MYBA found OneOcean Port Vell to be an ideal location to welcome the summer fleet of top charter yachts in. In addition to the vibrant backdrop that the city of Barcelona offers, the benefits of having the event take place in the western Mediterranean stretches far beyond attendees having a good time at the show. “MYBA hope that bringing the Show to Barcelona will further speed up and enhance any progress in opening up the charter market & regulations in these attractive cruising grounds,” commented MYBA Charter Shows Panel Chairman, James Graham-Cloete.
General Manager of OneOcean Port Vell, Paul Cook, said:“It is a great honour for OneOcean Port Vell to be appointed as host of theprestigiousMYBA Charter Show from 2017 and we would like to thank MYBA for their confidence in us. The easing of legislation on Spanish charters, which has had a positive impact on the demand for charteringand cruisingin the region, ensures that OOPV and MYBA are optimally positioned to deliver the next evolution of this event in 2017 and beyond.”
The 2017 MYBA Charter Show will be heldacross OneOcean Port Vell’s four Quays, Spanish Quay and Barceloneta Quay, Deposit Quay and Sota Muralla Quay. The entire marina’s 930 linear metres of quay will be used to house exhibitor tents, with the majority located directly in front of where the yachts will be berthed.
