The 28.9-metre sloop Mariposa 3A, listed for sale by Matt Albert at Yachting Partners International (YPI), has been sold in an in-house deal. Her new owner has changed her name to Grit. Photo: YPIDesigned and built by Dutch Vitters Shipyard in 1994, Mariposa 3A embodies a timeless early 20th-century racing style. Having undergone two refits since her inception (one in 2006 and a second in 2012), the Vitters sloop is in excellent working condition. Her latest refit saw the addition of new North sails, a new engine, and her teak decks completely replaced.
Her naval architecture and exterior are designed by Dubois Naval Architects who have provided her with clean lines and a smart keel design. "Mariposa 3A is an exceptionally beautiful, immaculately maintained, pedigree sailing yacht,” said her broker Matt Albert. “I am confident that her new owners will enjoy her just as much as much as her previous one did.”
On board, the classic sloop can accommodate six guests in a three-cabin layout. Her owner’s suite features a queen-sized bed, shower room, a bidet, vanity space, and plenty of storage space. Additionally, one double and one twin stateroom house four more guests.
Under the power of her sails and one MTU diesel engine, Mariposa 3A can reach a maximum speed of 11.5 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.
According to her broker, Mariposa 3A will undergo an extensive winter refit at the end of 2018.
The asking price for Mariposa 3A at her time of sale was €1,950,000.
