Azimut Yachts' Grande 36M presented ahead of its debut at Cannes

The all-new 35.29-metre Azimut Grande 36M has been presented by her builder, and is set to make her public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival later this year. Azimut Grande 36M yacht exterior designThe Azimut Grande 36M is a true Italian pedigree as she wears an exterior design by Alberto Mancini and an interior curated by Achille Salvagni Architetti. She’s been designed to accommodate as many as 10 guests, across five staterooms.Azimut Grande 36M yacht exterior designThe Azimut Grande collection is swelling not by one model, but by two as the Italian shipbuilder also presented the smaller Grande 26M. The series is said to “evoke a feeling of being completely immersed in nature.” Azimut has achieved this by fitting each yacht with full-length windows that remove all physical barriers between the interior and exterior spaces. Azimut Grande 36M yacht exterior designThe Grande 36M will feature an innovative upper deck that’s semi-walkaround and which runs on a single level that extends from the stern almost to the tip of the bow. The shipbuilder says this is a “never-before-seen-feature” on a superyacht. With this redesigned upper deck, guests onboard can relax at a higher vantage point, from nearly any area of the yacht.  Azimut Grande 36M yacht interior designAzimut has also installed a skylounge that has oversize slide-away glass doors that seamlessly merge the interior and exterior spaces. The skylounge is home to a glass hot top, while the sun deck is fully equipped with lounging gear. There are many customisable options for the Grande 36M and the saloon and sky lounge can be tailored to certain needs. Azimut Grande 36M yacht interior designThe Grande 36M will be constructed out of GRP, reducing the vessel’s superstructure weight by around 30 percent over steel or aluminium. This weight reduction is just one part of Azimut’s “green” drive with this model, as she’ll also sport the latest evolution of the D2P® (Displacement to Planing) hull, designed by Pierluigi Ausonio of Studio P.L.A.N.A. and the Azimut|Benetti R&D department. The hull’s fine tuned wave piercer is said to optimise fuel usage levels, with peaks in efficiency of up to 40 percent at displacement speed, compared to traditional hard chine hulls.Azimut Grande 36M yacht interior designAzimut is offering the Grande 36M with either twin MTU 2,2200 horsepower engines or twin MTU 2,400 engines. With the latter, she’ll be able to reach speeds of up to 24 knots and cruise at 18 knots.
