36.80m superyacht Serena III sinks off Fort Lauderdale

Reports of a superyacht that sunk mere miles off the coast of Fort Lauderdale in Florida has been circulating the web today. Local sources report that the 36.8-metre yacht Serena IIImade a distress call around 6 p.m on Monday evening after taking on water. The Coast Guard along with private maritime assistance companies were quick to act, and managed to rescue all 13 people on board before the yacht went under.

The yacht was reportedly on her way to Freeport, the Bahamas when she went under. Authorities are unsure as to what might have caused the yacht to sink, but it could be that Serena III may have hit bottom on her way out of Port Everglades.
