Onboard: Palmer Johnson’s eccentric 50m superyacht Khalilah

Palmer Johnson broke the mould when it delivered the 49.5-metre superyacht Khalilah. She was originally planned to be the first unit from the Palmer Johnson 48 Supersport series, but subsequent projects were put on hold, meaning that this unique twist on the superyacht experience is truly that – unique. She’s built to perform and has been equipped with two MTU engines that give her a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top speed of 32 knots. It’s not just her lines that are eye-catching though, as Palmer Johnson has finished Khalilah with a golden palette for both her hull and superstructure. For such an atypical superyacht, it’s only fitting that Khalilah’s interior design is just as charismatic. The task was conducted by Palmer Johnson's in-house team and as Fraser, her charter CA, describes, the result is a “cool, funky and fun interior” design. The superyacht Khalilah can accommodate as many 11 guests, who’ll reside in one of her five staterooms. Her master suite is nothing short of sublime, and has been finished with ornately carved wooden features and embossed golden sheets. The sleeping quarter of the suite has large windows that flood the space with natural light. The remaining four guest suites are all distinctive and furnished in a way to bring a unique charm.  "We are all really proud of this project where we achieved the aim of having almost 100 percent indirect lighting system in the interiors, being with Palmer Johnson Yachts almost 'pioneers' also in LED indirect lighting technology," Laura Pomponi, CEO and Founder of Luxury Projects Atelier, commented.Khalilah yacht saloonPhoto: Breed MediaKhalilah yacht interiorPhoto: Breed MediaKhalilah yacht deckPhoto: Breed MediaUptop on the upper deck is a second saloon, which is still generous in size and fitted with large windows.
